codemasters f1 vs gt5

Definitely looks like a must-have. Hopefully the September release date for F1 2010 will encourage Sony to get GT5 out before then.

GT5 cover many racing categories. If F1 is going to be include in GT5, Codemaster has no chance against GT5.
Anyway, I don't think codemasters can beat GT5...

Not even close to GT5.

Here's why it won't compete with GT:
"We're tailoring the handling to a different market... that Dirt 2 and Grid..."

'Nuff said.

Looks nice, and it's been a while since I've played a decent F1 game. However, even if it is graphically brilliant with amazing physics and AI, I don't see how it can ever take anything away from GT5. The two are very different classes of racer, with very few people likely to only pick up the F1 game and not bother with GT5.

I'm sure that F1 will feature in some capacity in GT5, and I'm sure it will be great fun. I don't think it will be able to compete with the depth that F1 2010 will be able to offer, but again, that's not the focus of GT5.

They meant that they're not tailoring it to Dirt 2 or Grid market, which are less sim/more arcadey. Why would they bring in Anthony Davidson to tune the handling and physics to appease the Grid market?

gtbillyboy, what you've done just now is asked GTPlanet readers whether this game will compete with GT5 . . . just wanted to make sure you realize the silliness of your actions.

It's not going to be stealing GT's thunder - it's a completely different concept. However, if you only buy one racing game this summer™, (ignoring other games) then it'll come down to whether you're a massive F1 / sim fan, or a car nut in general. I fall into the latter group, and there is no contest - GT5 "wins".

I want both, though :dopey:
It looks good! 👍

I think they will take the shine off things like implementing marbles, the most advanced weather system seen in a racing game .... etc.

Each new thing that GT5 will eventually show us, will probably have been implemented in every other racer by then.

If F1 is out before GT5 I'll most likely buy it and definitely buy GT5 when it comes out, if GT5 is out first then I may not buy F1, it'll depend on reviews or playable demo. Either way I buy GT5 and I don't expect F1 to come close to it although it could still be a very good game.

I couldn't be sure when I heard it the first time, so I listened a few. It's hard to tell if he says "than..." or "that..." ... Drit2 or Grid market. I heard "that". I could be wrong.

Anthony could very well be there to tweak the physics engine, whether it's a new one or not. I'm sure, if they were recycling the one from their past games, they'd still want to give it a tune up, and using a Pro is great for advertising.

Anyways, I don't see a series specific game ever being a threat to a broad car game like GT. We have the F2007 in Prologue, and while it is great fun to drive, it is taxing on the body when you use a wheel, and mentally fatiguing no matter what input you choose. It's not the kind of thing I want to do all of the time.

Verbatim:
"We're tailoring the car handling to a very different market to that of DiRT 2 and GRiD"

So it will be different.

I think CM said they were going to use a new or updated version of the graphics engine from previous games, maybe grid but the physics engine was to be new.

No it cannot compete.

I don't care if the physics turn out to be brilliant. The game is limited by the fact it is based on Formula One. As an overall game it will be annihalated by GT5.

I bet it will be fun though. For any car/motor racing enthusiast this game would be good to have.

GT5 will be better in many ways, though in some aspects the F1 game will shine.

Especially the track dynamics (dynamic weather with drying lines and puddles) and the damage model will probably outdo the implementations we see in GT5 (although we haven't seen much of both).

I hope they'll make it more of a sim, but I also had great fun with GRID :)

Overall GT5 will most likely be better due to higher diversity, lasting appeal and the getting-that-last-tenth-off-your-time-factor.

To be honest, graphics wise, F1:CE looked better.
Game could be good though, the menu system in the pit looks cool.

It seems like a great game while waiting for GT5. TDU2 and that, GT5 could come out in 2011 finally :sly:

I'm joking but there are some pretty good games coming this year.

GT5 will be better in many ways, Graphics, Gameplay, accuracy etc. but only if it comes out. Right now GT5 is better than ..... oh that's right, nothing.

loved Dirt2, loved Grid, will pick up F1 for sure.

To answer your question; not the same market... I think F1 will definitely be close to GRID in gameplay; not saying anyhting about physics tho. But definitely not a contender for "QUALITY" compared to GT5.. however, i dont know about sells.. releasing it that close to GT5 is suicide IMO.

Who said it will be close to GT release. If developers were afraid of releasing along side GT 5 we wouldn't have had any releases in the last 18 months. Where CM does strike a victory is in their comunication dept.

I'm skeptical about this becoming a full blown sim like GT5. I can only hope it will. Then I can play another racing game besides prologue :D

Exactly, what the hell have they done with the colors? It doesn't look realistic at all, looks like someone has puked all over the screen:crazy:

Brown, yellow and bloom all over the place. Just like in GRID:scared:

I don't think they ever mentioned they were going for "realism" in looks. Personally, i love the artistic direction they go for. Bloomy, vibrant colors, compared to the dull gray-layered colors of games like GTR2 and stuff.

Worry about the physics, not the look.
