Well has anyone else seen this movie? I myself loved it. Starring Tom Cruise as Vincent and Jamie Foxx as Max.

Max has lived a mundane life as a cab driver for twelve years. The faces have come and gone from his rear-view mirror: people and places he's long since forgotten--until tonight. Vincent is a contract killer. When an off-shore narco-trafficking cartel learns that they're about to be indicted by a federal grand jury, they mount an operation to identify and kill the key witness, and the last stage is tonight. It is on this very night that Vincent has arrived--and five bodies are supposed to fall. Circumstances cause Vincent to hijack Max' taxicab, and Max becomes collateral--an expendable person who's in the wrong place at the wrong time. Through the night, Vincent forces Max to drive him to each assigned destination. And as the L.A.P.D. and F.B.I. race to intercept them, Max and Vincent's survival become dependent on each other, in ways neither would have imagined.

I'm not a super good movie reviewer, but I can guarantee you that if you watch this movie, you will be pleasantly surprised. Easily in my top 10 movie list. 👍

I reccomend that nobody read that blurb Slick posted, it's stupid.
The movie, though, is very very good. And pretty.
I don't have the film geek backround to say how they shot the city, and how good it is. It just has a sense of presence that most movies don't.

I rented it when it first came out on DVD. Tom Cruise as an hitman was pretty interesting. Thumbs up!

I enjoyed this film a lot more than I expected, it was a bit predictable but it's a good watch.

If you can come up with a better summary then please post it. I'll edit my post and include yours. I just posted that because I'm horrible at coming up with summarys.

I was pleasently surprised by this movie. Tom Cruise played a pretty good bad guy. An enjoyable evening, and even more so the second time around. In my second viewing, you picked up alot more on the subtle tones of the film.

Enjoayble rental, almost worthy of owning.

I loved it! Best part: the "tough-guys" that robbed Max in the alley, and got totally owned by Vincent. I laughed for 10 minutes. 👍

I don't think a summary is nessicary. If you just give a rundown of the plot it will always sound stupid, a quote from a professional film critic would be much better.
Like this random google flack from E! online:
(blah blah plot summary blah blah)...But the real guy in control here is director Michael Mann, who meditates on long, beautiful shots of late-night L.A., explores the colorfully seedier sides of town and, thankfully, doesn't let the inevitable showdown fall for (too many) blockbuster contrivances. Cruise packs plenty of heat playing the self-centered, philosophy-filled A-hole (he's just acting, right?), and it's a pleasure to see him not be the hero. Meanwhile, this serious side of Foxx leaves you looking at him in a new light (and hopeful about his starring role in the upcoming Ray Charles biopic Ray). It's a perfect hit.

Maybe it's just me, but I think movie commercials and reviews (and the blurbs on the back of books for that matter) go much to far into explaining the plot. It's like they feel they need to coddle every brain dead moron who may possibly wander into the theatre so they know exactly what they're getting. Like it's somehow a violation of the consumer if they're ever surprised by anything. It just pisses me off how everthing is so controlled and sanitised by freaking focus groups and...
maybe I should just </rant> now.

Anyway, I find it funny that so many reviewers obviously hate Cruise's character (Vincent) so much. I really sympathised with him.

I think it is an OK movie. A decent rental and worth seeing at least 1 time. Not terrible and not terrific. Right in the middle.

I thought it was a bloody excellent film, Cruise gave his best performance yet, and Jamie Foxx was great as Max the Cab Driver

EXCELLENT FILM, AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOUR HEAD MUST BE BROKEN...

Great movie, not as good as the hype made out but still very good.
1 thing Michael Mann does really well is the noise the guns make, they sound so much more real than on most films.
I cant think of much to say about this it was just very good, great atmosphere, great acting, great direction. but its only worth
7/10
