Just throwing this in here, as it seems as good a place as any.

http://uoflcardgame.com/charlie-strong-is-imminent/11972
It appears Charlie Strong, Florida's defensive coordinator, will be going to Louisville. The buzz is big and Louisville's Athletic Association Board is meeting at 3:30 today, with all reports saying Strong is their only agenda item.

And the photoshops have already begun.

Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game
~ Pasadena, California, USA ~

#2 Texas vs. #1 Alabama

Sorry I've been so lazy updating all of this. Still a lot of time to think about what games to look out for this season.

Bowl Season is ready to rock! But before we talk Bowl action, here is a brief highlight:

Division 3 National Championship Result: #2 Wisconsin-Whitewater beats #1 Mount Union 38-28 for the National Championship

Now let's do Bowl Season!

Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - New Mexico Bowl: Cowboys Look to Lasso Up... Bulldogs?
* Fresno State {Bulldogs} vs. Wyoming {Cowboys}
The Land of Enchantment. At least, that's what New Mexico is known as. It's too bad the University of New Mexico had a terrible season. Otherwise, they'd be a bowl game lock. The Bulldogs of Fresno State are ready to tangle with some boys from one of the two box states. It's the Wyoming Cowboys. This first Bowl game of the postseason had plenty of excitement as sixty minutes wasn't enough to settle their differences. Wyoming pulled it out in the end.

Final (Double Overtime):
Fresno State - 28
Wyoming - 35

St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - St. Petersburg Bowl: Might as Well Be the Knight Bowl
* UCF {Golden Knights} vs. Rutgers {Scarlet Knights}
This is the kind of match King Arthur would disapprove of. These two kingdoms have their own Knights of the Round Table, and neither court likes the other. It's simple. Either you rock UCF's Golden Knights, or you're rockin' Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. The only FBS school in New Jersey won this one. The Scarlet Knights were CLEARLY the better pack of Knights on this night.

Final:
Central Florida - 24
Rutgers - 45

We're just getting started! Up next is the New Orleans Bowl tomorrow night. The New Orleans Saints call the Louisiana Superdome home, but it will be the battleground for Southern Mississippi and Middle Tennessee State. Take care, everyone!

Time to go to the Big Easy for another Bowl.

New Orleans, Louisiana - New Orleans Bowl: Gold vs. Blue
* Southern Mississippi {Golden Eagles} vs. Middle Tennessee State {Blue Raiders}
Some USM students might have been seeing their alum, Brett Favre, play on Sunday Night Football. Many others were trying to see if the Golden Eagles can shut down the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State. The only thing that got shut down was Southern Mississippi.

Final:
Southern Mississippi - 33
Middle Tennessee State - 42

No Bowl action on Monday. I may use this time to make a few predictions on the big bowl games.

BYU creamed Oregon State 44-20 last night in the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl. Utah and California go at it tonight in San Diego for the Poinsettia Bowl.

When you're a damn good FBS team that's not a BCS contender, how do you stay afloat? Keep kicking butt. That's what Utah did, to the tune of a 37-27 victory over the California Golden Bears in the San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

Nevada vs. SMU tonight in Hawaii for the Hawaii Bowl.

Merry Christmas to all of you! Last night, unfortunately, Nevada had an un-Merry Christmas as SMU hammered them 45-10 in SMU's first Bowl Game since 1984.

The Bowl game love continues Saturday with a good number of bowl game matches.

Midwest, East Coast, West Coast. MoTown, NASCAR country, Bay Area. Three bowls, three scores.

Detroit, Michigan - Little Caesars Pizza Bowl: Former MAC Rivals Clash for Pride
* Ohio {Bobcats} vs. Marshall {Thundering Herd}
Welcome to MoTown! Two teams that rock green and white are ready to take the field at Ford Field. The Detroit Lions of the NFL call this field home. But right now, Ford Field will be the battlefield for the Ohio Bobcats (Athens, OH) and Marshall Thundering Herd (Huntington, WV). The Thundering Herd held on long enough to leave Detroit with a win.

--- Final ---
Ohio - 17
Marshall - 21

Charlotte, North Carolina - Meineke Car Care Bowl: Which Blue Are You?
* #17 Pittsburgh {Panthers} vs. North Carolina {Tar Heels}
No football team in FBS or FCS occupies Charlotte, North Carolina. However, there is a football program in the works for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. The UNC in this match comes from Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels wear blue, just like the Carolina Panthers that call this stadium home. Panthers will play in this game, but they are of the [University of] Pittsburgh variety. Pittsburgh was down, but not out as the Panthers pulled ahead late to a win.

--- Final ---
#17 Pittsburgh - 19
North Carolina - 17

San Francisco, California - Emerald Bowl: Bay Area Battlefield for Two Winning Programs
* Boston College {Eagles} vs. USCal {Trojans}
San Francisco has a football field, but it's the absolutely dull Monster Park. Football stadiums don't make lovely baseball fields, but baseball fields can make lovely football stadiums. Just ask Chase Field or the future site of the Yankee Bowl at the new Yankee Stadium in a few years. I LOVE AT&T Park in San Francisco. Rain was falling on this night as the USCal Trojans took the field along with Boston College. That's right- USCal. This is not the Trojan teams of old, who don't have to settle for December bowls. A tumultuous season for USCal resulted in them having to settle for a trip up north for the Los Angeles-based school. The Trojans want to hit a home run like the Los Angeles Dodgers (the feared rivals of the San Francisco Giants). Boston College is perhaps the largest and most popular Jesuit university of all Jesuit universities. It is one of 28 Jesuit universities. The Eagles are ready to soar high in taking on a less-than-perfect Trojan squad. The Eagles were downed by the Men of Troy. The boys in cardinal and gold returned to L.A. with a nice win.

--- Final ---
Boston College - 13
Southern California - 24

Sunday night's match will be Kentucky vs. Clemson at the Music City Bowl.

Can someone please tell me why we are giving Tim Brewster a contract extension?:yuck:

The guy has a worse win percentage than the guy we fired before him.

Ugh. My Cats lose 21-13. Well, in proper Kentucky tradition: It's basketball season!

I felt a bit redeemed when I saw CJ Spiller being interviewed postgame and heard his Mike Tyson voice. This loss is just for today, that man has that voice for a lifetime. :lol: It may be childish, it may be immature of me, but I will take whatever I can to feel better about this loss.

Kentucky and Clemson went at it last night in Nashville. The Clemson Tigers knocked off Kentucky's Wildcats 21-13.

Today's match involves the Independence Bowl, between Texas A&M vs. Georgia.

I guess it comes to no surprise Texas Tech fired Leach. Can't say I feel sorry for him. Kind of funny how a year ago he was a hero to TT fans.

I'm seriously befuddled at how people think Jacory Harris is heisman worthy here in Miami. If he even gets in the running for a Heisman trophy in his career, I'd be shocked. The guy is a terrible QB.

Wednesday Results:

* UCLA beat Temple 31-20 (EagleBank Bowl).
* #24 Wisconsin beat #14 Miami 20-14 (Champs Sports Bowl).

Just now, my Houston Cougars got their brains beat out, a 47-20 beatdown in the Armed Forces Bowl vs. Air Force. Navy vs. Missouri up now here in Houston.

Coach Bobby Bowden is set to coach his last game for the Florida State Seminoles as they will tangle with the Mountaineers from West Virginia in this years Gator Bowl.

Good luck Coach Bowden,I would like to see you go out on a winning note to cap off a brilliant career. 👍

P.S. - GO BUCKEYES

New Year's Eve results:
* Houston vs. Air Force (47-20; Air Force) - Armed Forces Bowl; AFA revenge over HOU
* Oklahoma vs. #19 Stanford (31-27; Oklahoma)
* Navy vs. Missouri (35-13; Navy)
* Minnesota vs. Iowa State (14-13; Iowa State)
* #12 Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee (37-14; #12 Virginia Tech)

#13 Penn State just upset #12 LSU 19-17 in the Capital One Bowl.

I'm hoping the identity crisis team from Oregon wins. I was born there, so I guess that makes it ok.:P

Ohio State's BCS losing streak was over as they handled Oregon. Congratulations to the Buckeyes on this win.

I've still been lazy with updates. Since I'm trying to establish myself elsewhere online, this may be the final season I religiously cover college football on GTPlanet. But fear not... I'll always have a thread on hand because I still want some college sports discussion going to add diversity to the sports threads. Having said this...

Texas vs. Alabama tonight for the BCS National Championship! Who you got- Longhorns or the Crimson Tide?

Crimson Tide should win, Than again USC should have won in 2005 and we know how that went down.

Edit: Congrats to Alabama, I think Texas would have won if McCoy didn't get injured(Although Gilbert did an excellent job in the second half).

Last edited:
...just got back from the game. Heartbreaking that McCoy didn't get to play. After watching the true freshman Gilbert do an impressive job to get us within 3 points and have the ball with only 3 minutes remaining - I have to think McCoy could have won it. Unfortunately Gilbert's lack of experience caught up with him.

Good game to Alabama, but I'm afraid that everyone - even Alabama fans - was robbed of the chance to see the game they really wanted to see.

yeah I was disappointed with 'Bama. It was like they just decided we're going to run and forego the pass no matter what. Did Julio Jones have any catches? He seemed like a decoy and a run blocker most of the night. Bama played offense like they were playing not to lose and they almost did. I do believe if McCoy was in the game Texas might have pulled off the upset.

I was disappointed in Alabama for refusing to show any class by running up the score when they could take a knee and go home. Absolutely shameful. We played a hard-fought game with a 19 year old freshman qb who has never started a college game. Is it really necessary to pad your lead when you could take a knee and go home? No class.

Texas still had their timeouts. With all that onside-kicking, Saban had to make sure the game would be won. I feel bad for Colt McCoy, though. Gilbert looked terrible out there. That kid really needs to fix his throwing technique and delivery if he wants to be in the NFL some day.

Texas had used all but one timeout (pretty sure we still had one). Bama had the first down and could have taken a knee to run the clock out. Instead they went for another score.
