According to the GTPlanet's latest news "Gran Turismo 5 Challenge Helps Japan Tsunami Victims at Spa 1000km May 5-6" Lucas has helped put together an event using "Com’In Sport Motion simulators" Now I would think that they would be using GT5 as the platform for the event so my question would be. If they can use those actuators to simulate motion with the "Com’In Sport Motion simulators" in GT5. How would we be able to replicate it if we wanted to build our own Motion Simulator? That is what I would like to know. Do they already have it in GT5 hidden away somewhere in the game? 💡

Someone would probably have to take one of those apart and figure out the components it uses. Then try to figure out what parts are needed. All in all it might not be too hard, if you're willing to shell out the money. Maybe its possible with Buttkickers.

I see what radracing is getting at. If those actuators are simulating G force it would mean GT5 is outputting telemetry data somehow. Sadly, I'm guessing the actuators function like a giant rumble pack.

Buttkickers work by sound. This one looks like it runs on force feedback to simulate acceleration, braking, turns, bumps and elevation changes. I can probably source the componets easily but actually making it work with GT5 is key. I've seen a video of one that worked with GT4 but this would be cool if someone could figure it out for GT5.

...where they can donate €10 to race against Intercontinental Le Mans Cup drivers in GT5 race seats. The public will pit their wits against the pros over two laps on the game’s virtual Le Mans La Sarthe Circuit, or fans can make a charity donation to complete virtual laps of Spa Francorchamps using Com’In Sport Motion simulators.

Looks like the Com'In Sport simulators won't be used for GT5, and will be using a PC-based sim to run Spa.

GT5 seats > La Sarthe

Com'In Sport > Spa

Oh well, thats too bad. I was hoping for something new with GT5 or hopefully GT6. Come on PD lets get it in gear and implement this feature with LAN also.

Isn't it up to Sony to give the data of the PS3 to developers of motion simulators. That's why other hardware, created for the PC, like e.g. working dahsboards, shift indicators, SLI, etc... doesn't work on the PS3.

I'm not surprised that the guys from X-sim managed to get a motion sim working on the PS3.

Excellent news!

Edit: not so excellent after reading how he did it. He got the data to drive his 2 DOF motion sim from HIS SCREEN. He managed to get the data send by the PS3 from his monitor. He himself admitted that it is slow and unreliable.

My guess is the actuators are tied into the Logitech steering wheel and move with the direction of the wheel (Left/Right). I doubt that it moves in any other direction/angle. I seriously doubt that it is taking an input from GT5. Curious to see how this plays out though.
