So we're totally getting a Horizon Story that includes the 86, right? With the corniest dialogue known to man no doubt. I do hope they improve the dialogue in FH6 though, even if it's not my main want.

I haven't seen many people mentioning it but I would love some livery editor improvements over what we've got in FH5. Or at the very least, no regressions like FM8 brought us... If I had one wish it'd be repaintable trim/vinyl shapes placeable over trim. My lowrider needs some sweet gold chrome trim to complete the look!

Oh yeah, the HiAce will probably be FH6's equivalent of the Tsuru, a uniquely Japanese car that somehow ends up being the most highly requested car for FH6 because of how ubiquitious it is. :P I know you said it'd probably end up as a traffic car, but... I can't see it not being playable in some form. I just can't.
I can't wait to drive one in FH6 with the GT7 ambulance livery :D (please PG...)

Wanna place bets on which Japanese cars are going to be barn finds? I'm thinking at least the Hakosuka or the 2000GT will be.
Lots of good responses to this. I'm guessing the last one to unlock/spawn will be something fast, exceedingly rare and new-to-Forza, like a Jiotto Caspita or Toyota 222D.

My guess for the short teaser is like "leak insurance". They'll show more once TGS gets going but this way they can announce it will be there on their own terms since leaks happen at these shows all the time.
I didn't realize TGS was done tbh. I thought it started today so this comment kinda aged poorly

I think so, we'll have a story about the AE86. But it'll also be a barn find, just like Vocho in FH5. And it also deserves another version, the FE.

This was just a beautiful coincidence as I just landed back from Japan after 2 weeks there this very week, and of course, I visited Hakone and Tokyo among others, so if they nail the locations, I can confirm this is simply the best map yet in a Horizon game hands down.

And among the many things I have questions about...there is a small detail I wonder about. Starting with FH2, they got a bit 'lazy' regarding the traffic cars, FH1 had unplayable but real cars that made sense as traffic in Colorado, and since then, the Fiesta-Bora-Legacy fest has been a bit boring to see, I really hope they let those rest for good and build an actual traffic set for this game, as it's simply part of the whole experience, it's a vibe of its own when you look around, and the default traffic won't cut it at all, especially when you consider that not only those cars are not representative at all of the traffic in Japan in any period, but now it's even worse, since as we know cars older then 5 years are 'rare' to some extent, due to the shaken inspections among other factors (Oldest Prius I spotted were all 3rd gens), and now those traffic cars are 15-20 years old. (In fact, I spotted more Ferraris than Fords...just one. Again, in 2 weeks. A Fiesta funnily enough)

If I had to choose 10 cars for traffic, based on my observations, they would be as follow:

-Toyota JPN Taxi and/or Crown Confort Taxi depending on the area
-Toyota Sienta
-Nissan Note 3rd Gen
-Toyota Prius 5th Gen
-Daihatsu Move Canbus
-Nissan NV100 Clipper
-Toyota Voxy/Alphard
-Daihatsu Taft
-Mitsubishi Delica
-Toyota Probox
-Suzuki Hustler

And...that was 11 in fact. Or 13 if you count both taxis and Toyota vans, even with that of course a bunch of quite seen cars are left out, but I think these ones give a good representation of the traffic, having a bit of everything (And I didn't add the Isuzu/Hino buses, trucks...). But again, this for me at least is a crucial detail I really want to see, I don't expect them to nail them or even get close to a list like that...but as far as they move away from the FH2-FH5 traffic we're definitely moving forward.

EDIT: It would be lovely to also be able to have realistic license plates to some degree, I get they are trying a creative approach and/or maybe they want to avoid legal issues in any way, but again, Japanese plates are quite iconic so I hope they don't try something too fictional here (but anyway, I'm expecting something like the one in the teaser...)

EDIT 2: In the traffic list, I still need to add the Toyota HiAce, the most common van by far...really hard to stick to just 10 cars. The Nissan AD is also quite a common sight.
it needs more kei cars, i would add Honda N-One and Nissan Sakura

also i would make all cars driveable by players too

they already done it on FH5 with a lot of tofu puns, i belive this time we are gonna get some storyline based on anime cars like the FH4´s LaRacer was used to show some history of racing games using some cars like testarosa for OUTRUN a rally car for SEGA GT and so on

i also belive they will use the following:

Nissan Z (Devil Z)
Toyota Trueno AE86
Toyota 86
TransAM Forza Edition (Redline)
Some sports car to look like Mach 5
1968 Abarth 595 esseesse/FIAT 500 (Lupin III)
Alpine‑Renault A110 (two different versions for Lupin III/Evangelion)

I hope all the strange licensing issues that have struck the last few games at launch have been resolved. Volkswagen in 3, Toyota in 4, the Italian cars in 5. Fingers crossed we have no issues this time around.
We still seemingly have the issue with Maserati/Alfa Romeo, that caused the MC20 to be pulled last minute from FH5 and FM.

I somehow have the feeling we FH6 will miss out on BMW... The Crew Motorfest Spoiler incoming:
There have been Leaks that TCM will announce a "exclusive" partnership with BMW at their next show. That might lead to other games not having them anymore. (Maybe PMR is an example for that since no BMWs have been confirmed there)

I just hope the TVR selection isn't gutted like it was in FM8. If I remember right, only the vaporware Griffith was included in that game. Hence the profile picture.

I hope it is more of a "new models are temporarily exclusive" type of deal rather than EA-Porsche type of deal, if it really is an exclusivity deal.

BMW has usually been quite free with video games, and I remember some interview/YT video claiming that they were the some of the few manufacturers to be very eager to put their cars in games. I hope it continues, because losing BMW would be an enormous blow to any racing game.

I'll be soo bloody pissed if the M3 GTR is shelved for Project Motor Racing.

The version we're most likely going to get is the Strassenversion anyway. The race car stopped appearing in the franchise before Horizon ever got off the ground.

Actually it will be more of the Honda N-BOX, considering that it's been the best-selling car in all of Japan in recent years.

Highly doubt BMW is going away from most racing games.

The leaks, from what I read, include the following BMW's into that game, such as:

  • BMW 3.0 CSL Race Car
  • BMW M Hybrid V8
  • BMW M2
  • BMW M2 CS
  • BMW M3 CS
  • BMW M3 E46
  • BMW M4 CSL
Think of it like when they did the playlist with Ferrari was active.

Many things are missing from that list, those two would be great for sure, and having them playable first it's again a great idea not only because they deserve that and players will like it, but also since they already have the models, all they need is a simplified version for traffic and that's it, just a handful of cars would be needed as traffic only (big trucks and buses for example...and again, driving a smaller mountain bus is something I can definitely see myself doing, even as a histories event or something like that, just like with the tow trucks in FH5) otherwise I don't expect them doing 30 cars just for traffic, especially when again, most of them deserves to be drivable first, so no excuses here.

Of course, I worry a bit about certain licenses never seen before in Forza, such as Daihatsu, which I think is plain mandatory here, from Moves to Hijets, and Copens to Miras, you see them everywhere. And let's not forget about the many variants a model can have, such as the Move Canbus that I did added to the list, quite a common sight.

So long story short, if they really did their homework, just like I did when I was there, they know what's needed. If something cannot be obtained because of legal issues...well, too bad then, but if they were able to do it, and didn't want, it's a different thing, and I hope neither of those scenarios happen. And talking about legal issues...
The word exclusive when it comes to racing games is honestly so scary nowadays.
Correct. Has always been for me, but at this point the 'exclusive' thing should be banned for good, it's something no player gets anything good from.

Let's say the BMW thing could be real...TCM players get the cars, and non-players get nothing, as it happened in the past with so many examples, it's plain extortion, mafia style: 'Oh...heard you like this car. Such a shame...but they are our partners now, so if you want it, you better pay for their game, and about yours...forget about it'. Doing this has always sound like desperation to me, as if saying 'our game is so mediocre we need to hold captive these cars to force some sales here', don't care about the reasoning behind, it's just what stinks of, and it's bad for the industry as a whole, but money and press releases with 'BRAND-BRAND new collab!!' sounds very corporate to them and think they are doing just great business deals I guess...

They better not count with me buying the game if that happens, even if I had it, what if I want to use them in more than one game? What about racing cars outside of a game with actual circuits? Big pass on that, I'll boycott any game that approves of that technique, no matter who does it.

Kei car wise, I really hope they use the streets below the C1 to make good use of their nippy handling and have courses with lots of tight turns.

Having that car class, I hope we get cars like the Mira Avanzato TXRR, Minica Dangan ZZ and Vivio RX-R.
