I love gran turismo games my favorite racing series of all but after reading that most the work is going into Gran turismo 5 prologue and that is why GT5 is pushed back to 2010 i have lost my nerve seriously I have bought Gran turismo 5 prologue played it its on ATM and have gotten over it I personally think they should leave Prologue now or just minimise work and put 90% of staff onto the actual game because personally Id find it more interesting receiving a game with 900 cars and 60 Tracks then receiving a 1 car update or basic game changes every 6 months and this causing an amazing game to be delayed
What is your opinion on this?

You do know when they work on GT5P they are also working on the full GT5? Cars and tracks will be exactly the same, and you can bet they are not giving us all the cars they model in GT5P.

Things like Damage, private rooms etc will all be work towards GT5 (full).

I know that im saying what Yamauchi said few months ago about the focus being on Gt5 Prologue and Gt5 will be taken slowly.
I seriously hope tho that there is more of the game completed then there is in Gran turismo 5 prologue atm :S because im thinking if it were that way 2011 launch?

As long as PD continues to set the benchmark in racing simulators the wait will be worth it.Having said that it would be nice if they could just update online play to something more like Formula 1 Champ Edition has, which by the way is almost 3 yrs old.

Patience, dear padawan. PD's staff is doing their best to fulfill both ours and Yamauchi's expectations. It won't get here any no matter how we wish. All we can do is sit tight.. As the previous games have pointed out ,they're worth of waiting, and waiting is rewarded with quality and diversity.

yes but I also want the game to be new if this gets released in 2011 it will look outdated interms of gameplay, car content and graphics.

I think that full-stops would be wonderful ;)

As for the game, you just have to exercise some patience. I expect the PD staff are a lot busier than you think, working on both games, and that in terms of time it'd still take them probably as long to finish GT5 on it's own as it would if they weren't working on GT5P at the same time. Both are really the same game remember, so any development on GT5P will benefit GT5, and at least we won't have to wait as long.

Saying all this, I do wish PD would talk about the full game a little more, as soon as GT5P was first announced (well over a year ago) all news, interviews, stories have all been about GT5P and not the future final product.

That is exacty what Iam saying I see one person has understood, like seriously Iam just hearing news about Prologue but nothing about the real deal that we are waiting about.

I have a great idea.

Why don't turn this topic into another good-old Wishlist thread?

Oh, and you can also start bashing Polyphony and such, it's always a more than welcomed praxis.

Search button is your friend, as well as all general topics here.

Hold on a second and think about what that actually means.

According to KY, GT5P and the full GT5 will be exactly the same where functionality is concerned, it's just the car models and tracks that make the difference. In other words: GT5 will just be more tracks and cars.

So, turning the focus from GT5 to GT5P means that they are now focusing on the game engine rather than extra cars and models, which is exactly what you want right?

Yes you make a good point there Viper. I think it would be advisable for PD to every once in a while update the GT news section of GT5P to include basic information that informs us of how GT5P is forming the basis of the testing ground for incorporating new idea's or testing existing one's. This simply lets everyone know that GT5 is still in the focus as the direction of current activities is for and directly impacts GT5 as a polished and finished production.:D:tup:

mate Iam not making a wish list, Iam stating the problems Polyphony digital are stiring by focusing on a demo more then the actual game.
Remember in 2003 Gt4 was delayed but Polyphony had released lots of screenshots clips etc and that was 1 1/2 years before launch atm if it is a 2010 launch we are once again 1 1/2 years away with not a single image of the actual game.

After having a break from prologue and then returning im now less bothered about the delays because i've realised just how good Prologue actually is. PD have produced a racing game which no other console racing game comes near to and the sheer excellence is why PD take so long.

The only negative is the online side. My own personal view is features such as private rooms, chat, should of been available right from release. It is in this department that PD are a little behind its competitors i.e Turn 10 (Forza 2). Still figuring out how to write the network code is one of the reasons why PD are probably concentrating on Prologue rather than GT5 because they want to get the online side of the game right on Prologue first.

If PD release another track, few cars, private rooms, ingame chat in the next update then frankly im not bothered if GT5 comes out in 2010/2011. I am willing to wait plus it gives me time to save up for a playseat, G25 wheel!

Hmmm 2011 I might actually consider selling my Ps3 and buying it cheaper on the games launch because ATM is rubbish.

Mate, if you'd take an even slightest insight on history of GT series, than you'll realise that praxis of long development and "demos" are very usual for PD and GT series.

In last 10 years we've seen no more than 4 "big" games, and we got 2 "demos" for PS2 (GT Concept, GT4: Prologue), both predecesstoors of "big" GT4 game, in times whne digital distributin was not an issue.

So, any new thread regarding issues "PD where is GT5", "Why does PD waste their times on Prologue instead oon GT5" and such are nothing more than "whishlists".

PD is a big devloper with more than 120 people in Tokyo offices only, who are working on "Gran Turismo Nex-Gen" project from October 2003, which was the moment when GT4's internal game structure was finished and GT4:Prologue was ready to be released.

Today - in 2008 - we can be pretty sure that untill the end of the year we can expect some serious update of existing Prologue game, as well as we can expect that some major news regarding GT5 game will be published during 2009.

So, be sure that PD's main efforts are focused on GT5 game, not on Prologue. But also notice that if you had rudimental knowledge about PD's way of dealing with news, you'd know that PD - unlinke majority of studios - does not EVER make any kind of previews, showcases and such crap untill they actually FINISH something. I recall that both F1 cars in GT3 and exhaust-flames in GT4 were total mistery untill just week before release (both were showcased by spy-videos few days before JP releases of the game).

Also, nobody even mentioned Nurburgring untill PD actully released a famous BMW Series 1 demo in 2004, which was the FIRST moment EVER that we saw Nurb in Gran Turismo game - and there was no even a rumors of such before actual disc has hit the shelves.

But, all stated above WAS ALREADY DISCUSSED in NUMEORUS THREADS in this forum in years and months before today, thus I insist on sarcasm and irony when commenting about the respectful content of your thread - as I do and I woould do on every such thread that pops-up from nowhere every now-and-then.

Hmmm 2011 I might actually consider selling my Ps3 and buying it cheaper on the games launch because ATM is rubbish.

Im lucky in a way because I tend to play all my other games i.e FPS on my xbox 360. However I purchased my PS3 for GT5 and although many thought I was mad buying a console for 1 game I feel its very good value. As I said in another thread I took a break from prologue and played Forza 2 and when I returned to Prologue I was in awe of how good this game actually is.

I never tire of prologue because I would class myself as a hardcore racer. I can happily spend 2hrs just hotlapping in the same car on the same track. I do understand your frustration but the lifespan of prologue largely depends on how you play the game.

Yes but with Gran turismo 4 Prologue it was released and that was it, as you said yourself last 10 years 4 big games, but Gran turismo 5 has been in full development for 4 1/2 years now that means the first 5 1/2 years had 4 games while we are waiting the full duration it took for 4 big games in one game.
Yes Gran turismo games are amazing and yes I admit some of my Frustrations are comming from the fact of what the careless sony are doing throwing first parties and 2nd parties out the window and focusing on the Ps3 as a Blu Ray player.
But a Prologue Update would do good, I want a few more cars and an Endurance race at least on LMS racer added seriously we've got this Prologue game but only one full fledged racing car.
Remember tho Gran turismo 3 was made in 2 years and at the time its graphics were more ground breaking the 5's are in 2008

I can safely presume that GT3 was made in a bit longer time than 2 years :)

If I remember corectly, at the same time that GT2 (for PSone) was released in JP (1998), the PS2 hardware-protoype already existed. I also remember that in 1998. Sony was already demoing "nest-gen" Tekken, Gran Turismo and other games, so we can safely presume that worrk on GT3 begun way before 1998.

Do not take "release cycle" and "developement cycle" as same - they're pretty different.

Yes but GT3 wasn't online.

I believe the online features of GT5 is one of the main reasons why this time its taking longer. Even PD admit they have alot of catching up to do with their competitors.

You guys should just practice some patience and be happy that PD is striving for perfection instead of bringing out a half-assed game.... If you remember the past you realize that PD is ALWAYS late.... but when they do bring stuff out, its AMAZING.... kind of like Dr. Dre for the hip-hop fans in here.... Takes FOREVER making albums... but when he does bring one out its usually an instant classic :)

Actually I disagree with this, the graphics difference between GT2 to GT3 was mainly a higher polygon count, higher res textures throughout.

GT4 to GT5 includes full seperate panels, full interior model, a bunch of extra effects, greatly improved shadowing, 1080P screen resolution, even the headlights are fully modeled aswell as the high polygon count etc

I'm actually not impatient for them to hurry up on the update but please change the online races already Polyphony Digital, I want to drive my Integra again :(, and the bad news is that I found out that the autumn update is going to be a little late than the announced time which means we might get on December since they are still working on that damage patch for the game. But I'm not suprised though because it took almost 4 years to work on GT4

release date:

GT1 released in 1997-1998

GT2 released in 1999-2000

GT3 released in 2001

GT4 released in 2004-2005

GT5 Prologue released in 2007-2008

As this shows, we are going to have to practice some patience for the full game to arrive

I think we all want a few more of everything... but there's nothing you can do... so the sooner you accept, the easier it will be on you.... You can rant and rave all you want in here... they wont listen... :ouch::ouch: It is taking very long, yes... but Prologue is most likely a testbed for GT5. So when they DO bring GT5 out everything will be working optimally, providing a great racing experience!👍:sly:

Oh really? Got a source for that statement?

I don´t want the same game "only" with new cars and tracks! the changes from the prologues to the full games where always big and with the online update option the changes will not big...

And i totaly agree,I want the full game now and not all 6 months an update with changed tyre names and an GT-TV option that sucks... waiting so long for nothing...

Nobody knows what the fall update will bring but it will suck anyway if we get 2-3 cars and 1 track... they should focus on GT5 and do their updates on GT5 i think...

They only want to make more money with Prologue as long as they can... the game is now nearly 1 year old and we got to wait up to 2 years for the full... that sucks really for me...
