Sweet! I still play Red alert 2 and Yuris revenge once in a while so hopefully this will be just as good on the 360. Looks like the graphics got a nice upgrade. I cant wait and get it for the 360. There is also a trailer available to download at the 360 marketplace and it looks pretty good. :)

The Xbox 360 version differs from the PC version with a few obvious changes: The console version will deliver a new control system and game user interface (UI). Xbox 360 owners will get extra multiplayer modes, Capture and Hold, King of the Hill, Siege and Capture the Flag. EA also will implement support for the Xbox Vision Camera. Gamers will see their opponents in the lobby before and after a match in addition to seeing them while playing. After a match, the winner's video window is centralized and he or she gets to use that little pulpit to brag and lord over his loser friends. -IGN

I will definitely be interested to see how this works with the controls as I have yet to find a satisfactory RTS for consoles. I just can't seem to get around not using a keyboard and mouse for an RTS.

I just bought LOTR BTME2 and the controls work decent for that game. You are right its not as good as the mouse for RTS but they still did a decent job with it. I will also be interrested to see how they do with Halo Wars and C&C3. The controls also worked real well with Viva Pinata. It is also a strategy based game that I highly recommend for the 360. Oh roller coaster tycoon did a great job for teh original xbox version too. I wish they would bring one of the roller coaster games to the 360 since they already had it for the xbox.

Well, I don't have a 360, yet, but I will eventually get one so I will have to check C&C3 out.

Question about Roller Coaster Tycoon on XBox: Was it an RCT3 port (full 3D graphics, ride the coasters) or just regular RCT?

The PC version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 allows you to make videos and pictures so that you can share designs online. It's even possible to import homemade 3D objects to further customize your parks. These are all things that today's consoles should be able to do, but I never see it implemented within the regular gameplay.

The other issue I have with a console-based RTS is that a $10-$20 expansion for PC is a full-priced game on a console.

My big hope for these PC ports to console is on the PS3 because it has full keyboard and mouse support, and with Blu-Ray they could package the game and expansions on one disc.

I'd also be curious about a port for the Wii because you could have pointer functionality with the remote.

If next-gen goes right I may end up not having any games on my PC.

So far though the 360 seems best suited for PC ports from a software angle and if they could implement good controls then it would work out really well.

It was just Roller Coaster Tycoon for the xbox
The best port I have ever seen to this day is still Far Cry Itstincts. The map making on the xbox version and on the 360 was untouchable. It was the easiest, fastest, and most effective map making system ever made. Then all your friends could join and play your map online. Every FPS should have this IMO. I almost never play PC games any more now that I have a 360. Which is disappointing since I just bought a brand new PC last year with all the best parts. Oh well now it just sits and gets dusty. Once in a while I play Age of Empires 3 with Heather but its been a long time.

Well, they bundled all the expansions on to one disc, like I was talking about.

I agree. Map making adds a lot of replayability for both single and multiplayer.

Personally I prefer mouse and keyboard in RTS games and especially FPS games. I just can't seem to aim that well with a controller. Is there absolutely no keyboard + mouse availability at all for the 360? I see a couple of USB ports in the front...

I'm sure it can use them as it can run Windows, but many game developers never implement them into controls.

Honestly, it is the keyboard and mouse that have me playing any games on my PC still and if they would implement them on consoles then I wouldn't need them on the PC.

I am the complete opposite. I prefer console controls over the mouse and keyboard. But I grew up on consoles and thats probably why I prefer controllers over the mouse/keyboard. However I do agree the mouse is the best for RTS games.
Viva Pinata had an option to click your left controller in and that gave you a cursor that was almost as fast as a mouse. It was very effective. 👍

Well, let me clarify, I am better with first person shooters on the console. But building simulations such as RollerCoaster Tycoon or Sim City and RTS games I almost need a mouse.

I remember Sim City on the Nintendo (or was it SNES?). That was horrible.

I think that I just can't aim with my thumbs well enough. I'm okay, but I'm far more accurate with a mouse. It's just that my thumbs are dumb(s).

There's this...

I finally had a chance to check out this demo. They did a very very good job with this game and now I might end up buying it. The cursor is EXTREMELY fast and the controls work real well. The graphics are also very nice. Hopefully the full version will allow us to play with friends against the AI.

I've always found RTSs on a console to be very fiddly. This one wasn't so bad, but I still find nothing will beat a keyboard a mouse.

The graphics were merely just "above average" to me, and I noticed some slowdown in rather mediocre battles... God knows what it'll be like in very heavy fights.

What I really liked about it is how they filmed the cut scenes using real actors. It's pretty cool and different. 👍

Do you know if the full version will allow us to play with friends against the AI like on the old PC versions of C&C, red alert, and Yuris Revenge???
GT What TV do you play on? You have HD right?

Yep to the "Do you know if the full version will allow us to play with friends against the AI like on the old PC versions of C&C, red alert, and Yuris Revenge???" question.

I forgot to add the quote in when I edited...

Oh really?!! So on the 360 version my girlfriend and I can play against 2 AI bots if we want? Where did you get that information from? If this is true we will be buying 2 copies of C&C 3. If this is not true we will probably just rent it.
As for the TV I have noticed that most games look better on my CRT HDTV than they do on our HD LCD monitor.

Oh, I apologise. I got completely confused there and looked at C&C 2 on PC instead of C&C 3 on the 360. :dunce:

I don't know if you can play against the AI, but it would be great if you could...

Any you guys know will you be able to connect to same servers as PCs do? If so I would sure love to play someone at this game. It looks awesome on my PC and I would appreciate some new competition.:sly: :sly:

I ended up buying Command and Conqurer 3 for the xbox360. Great game and even the graphics are very good. The 360 version also allows you to play against the AI and set the AI to turtle, rush, or many other options. Great game and teh graphics are very good. 👍

Here is a little more detail about the computer AI.
I ended up buying this over the weekend and its true you CAN play against the AI with friends. You can also set they style the AI difficulty and way the AI attacks. You can set their fighting style to Turtle, rush, or several other options. You can only select the AI in unranked matches which is fine with me.

My girlfriend and I spent quite a bit of the weekend against the AI and put them on turtle so we could get the hang of the controls and all the options. We started with just the 2 of us against one easy AI to get the hang of it. Then we went against 2 AI on easy. One match was the 2 of us against one Medium AI and one Easy AI. That was a pretty long tough battle that we almost didnt survive. She got attacked with the Ion missle twice and was left with only soldiers to fight with. I had a massive defense base set up that they could not enter so I just kept building armies and we both rushed at the end. Killer battle!!!

I couldn't resist and bought the darn game... should be here tomorrow. 👍

Sounds like you had a great time, Camaro. I'm sure that's what mode I'll be playing a lot once I finished the Campaign.
