At one time GM held 40% of market share. Today they still have 25% market share. Combined, the big three have 2/3 of the market to themsleves. I wouldn't worry about Honda taking over any time soon.

And people don't preach "Honda" any more than they have big 3 brand loyalty.

I never said the Honda takeover would be overnight. But they're working on it, 24/7/365.

And are you kidding (w.r.t. Honda being preached as much as the Big 3)? Is ANYONE loyal to the Big 3?

I didn't mean the big 3 as a whole; I meant one of the big 3. I know plenty of people in my age group who would "only buy Ford products" or "never buy a Mopar." And pretty much every American guy I've talked to over, say, 40 has some sort of brand loyalty.

You've been brainwashed by "The Man", that's why!

Any minute now I expect the head honchos in Tokyo to break out Borg-style:

"WE ARE HONDA. LOWER YOUR TARRIFFS AND SURRENDER YOUR INDUSTRIES. WE WILL ADD YOUR BIOLOGICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL DISTINCTIVENESS TO OUR OWN. YOUR CULTURE WILL ADAPT TO SERVICE US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."

Honda has spawned their own little cult of devout followers, which really pisses me off more than anything. They've conned millions of people into believing they're just a little upstart company trying to compete with bigger fish in the sea (which is a flat out LIE; they're the world's top producer of internal combustion engines), that cares about the environment, etc. What they're really doing is conning people into believing all of their propaganda in order to squash the competition. So now you have these Hondaphiles driving around, preaching the way of Soichiro Honda, trying to convert you to the faith, with the eventual goal of having everyone on Earth driving their own Accord or Civic, mowing their lawns with Honda mowers, having fun on the weekends on their Honda ATVs and fishing with their Honda-powered boats...

Well and good all that is, I still haven't heard a single reason why the Buick LaCrosse has all this value I've heard about.

Truck buyers are, and that matters most in this country since they account for the top three best-selling vehicles here.

My apologies, then. Gosh. Don't bash on me, now.

I was usually on the context of Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Volvo, MAN, and that sort of thing when I came up with this topic.

And according to America's big three, which truck makes the best choice for an American truck to have for commercial purposes, M5Power?

*Prediction: M5 will say it's the Ford F-150. Because of options, or something.*
I say the Ram. Hemi power!

I meant with respect to it's competition: the likes of the Ford Five Hundred Limited and Lexus ES330. Of course it's not of any particular "good" value compared to "mainstream" cars like Altima and Accord. Impala and Grand Prix are basically the same thing as LaCrosse, for much less.

Meh, I suppose.

i have no problem with honda being the number one engine producer seeing as their entire range of engines is emissions friendly. and somehow the vehicles they end up in get good milage for thier category. and comparatively speaking, they make good power.

Midsize it's the Dodge Dakota, hands-down. Cheap as ****, easy to maintain, and you can get them in any configuration known to man.

I'm unimpressed with the large truck market right now. The Ford F-series and GM trucks don't offer side airbags, which is disgusting given the number of sales they're targeting, and I've got problems with the trucks which have side airbags available - Ram's okay, but that Hemi engine isn't worth what they want for it, Titan's great, but only if you want a huge V8 and an extended cab (or crew), and Tundra's way too expensive. Fleets are boned because the Titan's the best of that crew and Nissan's not too keen on fleet sales of the thing - so they're wiser to go for Dodge.

What do you think about the new Superduty? And what seperates a good truck from a great truck when on the job?

But when you come down to it, a budget ES330 and Five Hundred Limited is the Accord EX V6. I might rather have a LaCrosse than a Five Hundred Limited, but I'd also rather have an Accord EX V6 than both of them.

New my ass. All they did was change the grille. At least, that's what it looks like on ads - I don't follow the heavy-duty truck or cargo van market at all.
