Comp issues. Internet connection problems

I'm going to make this short since I'm on the iPod. But, my comp. is playing more freakin' games. First, I started getting a pop up stating a USB Device is not connected, even though everything was fine. Now, the computer is starting to lock up on me. It used to last a couple hours, but now it'll lock after 2 minutes. :(

I don't know the whole specs of the system (I'm not a comp guy), but the computer is a HP Pavilion m7567c model. I have defragged and I have checked my Device Manager. Nothing wrong or fixed.

If anyone can post something that can solve either problem, I'd greatly appreciated. :(

I presume you have also run your AV? What AV do you use?

Using the latest version of Spybot S&D? If so, update it and run a scan.
 
Also install CCleaner to clean temporary files and the registry.

It may also be a hardware problem, heating too much, so try cleaning it.

Yes, I have the latest version of SpyBot as well.

Ran CCleaner. It's picked up the performance a bit, so I think I've killed part of the problem.
 
Yay. The computer has, once more, decided I can not be blessed with zero issues. Now, the computer has picked up 2 new habits.

1: During start up, I lose my desktop background, and get a "Windows Error" telling me to run a Virus Scan. I have, repeatedly. It picked up 1 virus and deleted it. During this time, I also get a Windows Script error pinpointing some file in my Local Settings/Temp folder. It's been a different file during every start up.

2: My connection has slowed dramatically. I have unconnected, & reconnected. I have unplugged, and plugged back in the cable for the modem which usually works. My Ping in Counter Strike rises from 50-70 to 150 & counting. My internet slows, and sometimes, when I click GTP Forums on Google, or some other page, Firefox opens up a blank tab instead of the forums.

A third problem that has happened twice when the comp. has been left alone, is the computer will go into a cycle. It'll go to a blue screen (not THE blue screen) that says some error has happened, and I should press F8 for Safe Mode. After a while, the screen cuts to the Windows loading screen. This, will then go back to that screen. I believe these causes have also caused my Logitech mouse to become slow to respond.

I believe I'm at the point where I'll either kill this computer in cold blood, or I'll be seeking anger management because it pisses me off so much. I've even beaten the side panel with a hammer, which ironically, fixed the last problem. Or maybe I should just go Mac.

You should get the name of the virus. I have found that some anti-virus programs are bad at removing certain viruses, so sometimes it's better to find a way on google.
 
I will be doing that PB. I'm highly considering buying a large WD Notebook external HD, maybe a terabyte or so.

I have, however, found a huge problem. My desktop was replaced with a Windows Warning Message that said Win32/Adware.Virtumonde & Win32/PrivacyRemover.M64 were on my machine.

I have learned that, while these are still technically trojans, they are actually ploys to get people to buy more false Anti-Software. I have downloaeded Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware program after reading many positive reviews that it will remove the pop-up. I also have Spybot S&D scanning the background as well.

I believe this annoying P.I.T.A. is the cause of all the trouble.
 
I had trouble with Virtumonde before. The program that worked for me was AVG Anti-Spyware or at least the old version of it. The new version I think comes with the antivirus.

What I usually do it boot into a system with a Live CD of some sort, I use Ubuntu, and then transfer all of my files to my flashdrive.

Then, boot into the Windows CD and do a FULL format when you re-install, not a quick one.
 
Thanks for the advice so far. Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it. During my scans, the comp. restarted. Now, the computer no longer goes pass the Welcome screen.

I am now running the malware scan in safe mode.
 
Update.

The comp is free of the malware and I have done restore. Now, my only problems are the return of an iTunes issue and a connection issue. For some reason, my router cannot assign an ip address to my computer. My connections are showing that I have limited or no connectyvity.

However, my iPod & my ps3 as well as my xbox are able to connect to my internet. I have reset my router & it still has not assigned an ip.

Any advice?
 
Right-click your network connection and select "Fix" or something similar, I don't know exactly how it's called in English versions of Windows. If you already did that, try to manually set an IP to your computer, within the range your modem is using of course.
 
Go to network connections, right click on local area network connection (or Wireless if that is what you are using) and select properties . Highlight 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click properties. Make sure IP and DNS are aquired automatically.
