Hats off to those who had achieved C or a superior safety rate.

I topped at E1520 and I'm going downhill ever since. Horrible day today. Ended at F1480.

It seems that for every clean race I manage, I get three 'dirty' ones.

If I'm at the top, I get rammed. If I'm at the back someone at some point will crash in front of me creating an unavoidable barrier.

:banghead:

PS4: I would appreciate if someone could explain a few things to me about how this works. I am currently at D1486 so I have been in a few races ;-)

Here are some examples:

I qualified fastest, I was on the front row and someone jumps the start and rams me while I am stationary, why do I get the contact infringement?

I slow down for an epic turn 1 pile up, I avoid the crash and cautiously pick my way through the carnage and then get ploughed into and get a contact infringement.

At Monza, having a huge battle for 1st, the guy in front spins and crashes at Parabolica, so I figure I would cruise for and easy win. Lo and behold he screams up the straight, completely cuts the chicane and overtakes me, he then slows to give the position back then dive bombs me at the next chicane, pushes me off the track and he gets the win.

Rolling starts, the person in front looks like he has started, screams off only to then brake heavily before the start/finish line, I just put a nose in front of him and I cop a drive through penalty.

Next race, aware of this trick, I brake heavily to avoid this happening again and I get rammed from behind, my car is broken and I get a drive through penalty.

Another trick used by higher ranked players on me is when I am mid corner just tap my rear quarter panel so I spin, I get put out of the race and a driving infringement.

And the best one of all to date. 16 people start a 20 lap race with weather at Mt Fuji. This is where I copped a drive through. So after the first lap I am dead last because of my drive through. I battle the rain, storms and night for 20 laps, along the way finding a puddle, spinning and copping a 15 second penalty. So I fight my way to the front, get 22 seconds in the lead, win the race only to find everyone had quit and I got 1 (yes that is ONE) lousy point added to my lisence >:-( Where are all these points for hanging in there and not quitting?

And the best ones are when the lobby freezes and I have to quit the whole game or it just crashes back to the PS4 menu and I lose 85 points >:-(

So please tell me, how are any of these things fair?

Everyone involved in a contact gets punished. Just avoid contacts and don't race in a lobbies with minimum requirement of U cause that's where all the dirty players are. I think the system works pretty well. Just moved up to C level after about 40 races.

Are some races unranked and if so how do I know which ones! After 3 of my 4 online victories I saw no increase in my Skill Rating.

I've been working on getting my license levelled up, with 31 races I've got to D, but my skill rating has been so up and down. Pretty much any time I can finish, it goes up. However, I've been DCing a lot, and if I DC mid race, I take a 40-50 point hit. The most I've got for a win was about 10. Seems a little imbalanced.

Other than that though, it seems to work ok.

I am finding the dirtier players are higher ranked, especially Cs and Bs. They are the ones that are turning me around if I am in front of them >:-(

I find I rank rank up faster racing against Us and Fs because at least I can (usually?) get pole, get in front and hopefully get the win and a no contact race.

I personally do not think this system works in it's current form because there are too many people being dirty and using exploits to their advantage.

Why don't you guys who are having issues trade psn, steam, or xbox gamer tags and race together? Seriously. I've been finding clean racers, friend requesting them, driving with them and making more friends. Also have joined a discord that has hundreds of active racers that are all looking to drive clean.

Currently A1543 and no issues with the races I host or the ones from the community host. Honestly guys... the folks here all talk about wanting to race clean so let's actually be a group of racers that race together.

Like... right?

This has been my experience as well.

Currently at E1515 and getting more frustrated to a point where I question whether it actually is fun or not...

The system in its current state is not working in my opinion and just penalizing both parties for contact is not the way to go in some instances. How can I be to blame in any way if the driver in front of me went wide in the first chicane at Monza...since I was holding back not to overtake I saw this as an opportunity to pass...but no the guy joins the racetrack just in time to crash into me...causing me to spin. He then proceeds to ram me into a roll and leaves me trailing by a mile.

There needs to be more parameters for these things. Surely it can be coded if contact was made and the one party just joined the track into a car that wasn't off-road then only the party joining the track in unsafe conditions must be penalized and in my opinion DQ'd. Similar they should have braking zones on all tracks. If car A is braking within that braking zone, but gets hit from behind by car B that isn't braking at all or braking too late then how the hell can car A be penalized?

Was doing a race this morning against people rated C's and D's...and it is singlehandedly the dirtiest race I've been part of. I simply refuse to not finish a race but at this point I don't know why bother.

This behavior is the worst at Monza with its long straights and big brake zones...unfortunately it seems it is one of the most popular tracks at this point.

I'm losing faith in humanity due to what I'm seeing in these lobbies. Just don't get what is wrong with people refusing to be overtaken. Hell you are going to win some races and lose some races. I've had races where I'm clearly not fast enough but I just accept it...not try to cheat my way to a better position.

That kind of misses the point of the rating system, isn't? I am already on a league of clean drivers but I do enjoy a quick-no-fuss race on the open lobbies.

One look at the rank and you'd know if someone's clean.

I like how the system has been implemented. It works. I just had bad luck during the weekend. I need to create a lobby with a minimum rate of E and that's it. Solved.

BTW, I think I raced against you this weekend, at Imola could be?

minimum rate of E and that's it.

That doesn’t work on PS4 I'm rated C and I can enter above. Likewise I can create a room with a minimum of C and U rated drivers can enter.

However, it does work with the numbers part of the license which seems backwards.

Yes, I would rather race against an A100 than a U2000.

I am still waiting for someone from SMS to actually try and explain how the system actually works because from my point of view it doesn't.

Didn't know that. That's pretty useless then.

It is with things like that when you kind of understand why people get mad at SMS.

I believed in the system.

Went up to D, only to race at spa where the car in front of me spun due to wallcontact.
There is no way I can halt my car going over 200km/h within 5m, yet my rating dropped back to E.

I love online it all felt fair,... Until that. I'll race in the leagues I'm in and screw online races.

I keep getting disconnected all the time, my internet is fine as I have a laptop next to me and it has no problems atall, I worked my way up to 1550 and now its below 1500.... Why do you penalise getting dissconnected??? Why cant you just penalise people who quit, surely you can tell the difference???

Bug and fixed on the PC-side last Friday. Will be fixed next PS4/XB1 patch.
When is the PS fix coming? I've seen multiple posts about pc fixes but for ps it's always 'next patch'.

Some of us are starting to feel like second rank users of your product...

Edit: I realise Sony 'needs' to review the patch,... But I as a customer don't relly care about the behind the scenes. We see PC getting updated and us eagerly awaiting one.

There's your problem right there.

There's your problem right there.

Yeah I agree.

It just is very frustrating slow loadtimes are getting worse. (no I won't deletr my saves why would I have saved them otherwise?)

All those small things that didn't matter become more irritating when having to wait a lot just watching at frozen screens..

Clearly that last case is not fair! I get that SMS want to punish quitting out, but it's not in keeping with the ELO-style system for points. 'Fair' would be that quitting is essentially a retirement/DNF. So first to quit comes last and loses the most, but is still counted as beaten by those who stay in, who should gain points from that. The way it is now, it seems the quitter still damages the race for those who stay in.

Ideally taking to the grass to avoid a collision shouldn't be penalised. Maybe the decision could be made on whether the passed car is going within some percentage of race pace. However, I can see that might encourage first corner cutting unless there's some other criteria (I'm not sure that matters much - the benefits might still outweigh the cons, and it's still risky to use the grass).

It's only been a week, I think you should just drive cleanly and your rating will work itself out. I think once it's around C you shouldn't worry too much, because racing incidents are always going to happen.

I personally hate when I'm much faster than someone and I end up rear-ending them because they brake too early

Yesterday i started at D1546 and i had two disconnects on bad lobbies. Lost 39 points on each.

Then i had a bunch of good finishes including six wins, but only up to D1478 after all that.

I like the punishment for people quitting lobbies, but there´s gotta be a way to recognize disconnects, race-ending crashes and what not from the regular rage quit.

It´s like every time you string a sequence of good races you end up in a horrible lobby that trashes away all your gains.

Of course I have already read these (a couple of times now) but they lack detail. These official explanations only give a very general idea of how it should ideally work. I see absolutely no relevance to what is written in those links and what is actually happening to me personally in online lobbies :-(

So I ask you this. Why, if the ranking system is sooooo good and important, I cannot set the search criteria to search on ranked lobbies? I would have thought this would have been the #1 search field but that is just me I suppose ;-)

It is my opinion that this ranking system is only teaching people how to manipulate the rules to advance their rankings and NOT getting people to actually drive better! The biggest one is when I am leading a race I get dive bombed into one of the last corners and speared off the track I then cop the contact penalty and lose the race as well. I am getting *VERY* sick and tired of this happening >:-(

It will be patched so safety rating will prevent this from happening:

I keep hearing about this "sooooo impressive" next PS4 patch but I cannot see anywhere where anyone actually says when it will be available. Oh the Big Wookie did say a few days but then that really is meaningless ;-)

BTW *IF* a very urgent game patch is required it can be rushed through Sony testing (for a fee of course). So SMS either deem it not to be very important, are too tight fisted to spend the money or are still trying to find fixes for it. Perhaps all three ;-)

Again to quote the Wookie, there are 5 very import issues to be redressed on PS4. So where's the patch?

So you doubt that a patch will turn up? Or you want it now?

Becoming very frustrated with things, but ultimately it's my errors causing the frustration not the system.

I still can't seem to cross the pit lane @daytona without getting pinched.

Also, on manual race starts stay as far back as you can.
The latest fad seems to be slamming on brakes so the guy behind you getting a position penalty before race start.

Had 4 terrible races in a row tonight, getting rammed, host quitting, penalty after penalty.
Going to bed now.
