if he does all the work himsef (other than engine) you save a ton on labor.
and some people enjoy working on cars much more than driving them

I can see where the guy is coming from really. I'd rather build something like that myself than buy an already ready track car. Even if it did cost more. But I reckon if he's only going to track it, it is kind of pointless I guess.

The only thing that's wrong is if he's choosing/doing mods based on that they're the most expensive, instead of basing it on what he likes. Having every modified part made for your car isn't necessarily cool :)

fortunately hes not going for what other people think
and as he says “I put the best of everything on as i went along”

...it's no wonder modern cars are so damn heavy! Wire anyone? I've got loads!

look at how much he chucked out!

i admire his enthusiasm, and i like his attention to detail and envy his chance of being able to afford so much! every motor nut likes to get goodies :D

I have to say this guys attention to detail is amazing, it would have been easier to step up the power on a pre-made rally spec impreza. Of course For some people there is no game in that.

Surely I'm not the only one who expected to see a really riced out Subie when we went to that?

Kind of overkill with the chassis stiffening stuff, imagine how much weight all that stuff adds. Not to mention he put Dynomat on everything.

It might go fast, but it's not going to handle any better than a stripped out Subie with some mild suspension work.

I still want to know what he does for a living. That's at least 50k-70k euros worth of upgrades. I do admire the work going into it.

I guess for some people it's the journey and not the destination.

Exactly. There is a very special pride that one can have ONLY after doing such a car project him/herself. Even for my extremely humble engine build, I've taken a VERY long way around just because I really enjoy it. I love looking back and seeing how far it's come. This guy seems to get it. He just has LOADS of money to do ANYTHING he wants.

I love taking cars out of winter storage, newly stanced/built, then taking it for a wash and some pics with the details missing :)
