So for some reason when I am on facebook and something pops up it causes my browser to stop responding. It will normally do it for awhile if I'm running an app.(which really sucks if I'm playing poker)

Any ideas as to what would cause this? I have the latest version of flash and am running Vista. Do you think an upgrade to 7 would cure this?

Edit: I should add it happens with both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Well for a start download ZoneAlarm, it's a good firewall and will protect you far more than the Windows one.

AVG used to be okay, for the free ones Avira and Avast are better.

Do you have Spybot? If not, download it and run a system scan.

I'm still having issues with this, I tried messaging facebook but they're as helpful as a rowboat in the desert. One thing I found out though is that facebook takes up a good chunk of memory.

The part that is circled is from when I was on facebook, the part right after is when I went to Yahoo.

Do you think a ram upgrade(as well as W7) would help solve this.

The thing I noticed is that even after a format, my old computer isn't that fast around the web. I blame Flash.

I used Flashblock with Firefox to selectively choose what Flash bits I want to run. Otherwise, a non-animated Flash ad would make my YouTube video chug on my older Mac.

Definitely get more RAM though. 512 MB is too little. Even my weakest Windows XP computer has 1GB (Athlon XP 1.8 GHz).

No, stay away from fancy RAM unless you are overclocking, or know how to tweak for additional voltage and tighter timings. If you are certain your computer takes DDR2, then get regular sticks of DDR2-800. Newegg has a set of Crucial 2GB DDR2-800.

I looked around for a datasheet on Corsair's website but couldn't find one for the XMS2. If it can run fine at JEDEC spec and can drop down to DDR2-667 or DDR2-533 as needed, then go for it.
