Okay, my new computer came in ( Thank god I can have my own. NO MORE FAMILY COMPUTER w00t! ) and I wanna hookup my PS2 into my PC moniter. Heres a picture of the connections I got in my moniter.

It does have 4 USB ports. 2 on the bottom. 2 on the sides of it. But what do I need to buy so I can play my PS2 through my moniter instead of my TV?

Tell me the correct item or whatever I need to buy, I'll buy it. Thanks for the help.

Here's what you'll have to do.

You need a PCI TV Tuner card. I have one, and it works great. I play console games on it. You put this, obviously, in your tower in a PCI slot.

Here is a deceont one.

Won't a Radeon All-in-Wonder work too? I believ the best in the AIW in the Radeon 9700pro. Also, you'll need an RF adapter.

An AIW would work, but a 9700 Pro AIW costs about $350.

You don't need an RF adapter, the video capture devices have composite inputs aswell as RF.

now, do I have to order that threw the site?

I can't just go to my local Computer store and see if they have it?

Yeah, be careful with this sort of thing though.

I bought a connector (not the one you provided the link for though) to link my ps2 to my monitor (17"crt) a while back and the results were interesting. The image quality was bareable, looking very blurry up close (i.e. usual pc operating distance) ranging to blurry/ok at a few metres. It connected ok, but needed reseting (mine had an 1/0 switch) a few times for the image to settle. Obviously you wont get sound with that cable you linked to.

Buy from a shop if you can. That way you can always take it back easily if it's craptastic.

So with the link that Darin provided, how do you use that thing? Do you plug the A/V plugs into that thing, then your monitor into it, then that cable into the back of the tower?

Yeah, both the PS2 and your monitor goes into the VGA adapter and then it plugs into your video card.

VGA adapters for PS2 are lame. Get a TV Tuner card.

Well, I can't buy something thats ultra-expensive here. I just wanna find something, so it works.

I'm not looking for the #1 product. Just one that will work.

Yeh I use my graphics card because its got a video capture facility, but the picture is naff but usable plus it lets me mpeg my replays with sound so that is ok, I also have a TV card but no RF connector for my ps2 so I’m unable to check if that would work, but I’m sure it will.

Just remember that if you have you computer set a high resolution then when you start using your ps2 thought the PC then it will be at a resolution of 800*600 if using PAL not sure about the rez for NTSC tho. So when you maximize the image to the size of you monitor then it will look ****.

Coz I run a 19" honsol 920p at 1600*1200 at 32bit true, the highest it will go, and my image from my ps2 is 800*600 so it looks very small sat in the middle of my monitor.

Have a look at something form here,

Hauppauge TV cards

I use on of these to watch TV on my pc, and also capture TV programmes, you can plug a S-Video in and an Arial (not sure what it is in the states) but im sure you will find somethng there that is at a resonable price.

LOL i know what ya wana do, but a TV card will do it. :).

(fig a) Is the S-video - if you have a cable that has this conection ou will get a picture through this, if not use an RF-lead (standard TV arial plug) wich plugs in at (fig b) then for your sound get the red & white cables and plug them into your sound card useing a two phono to jack plug (found at any local hi-fi , pc type shop) as shown in (fig c) , once this has been done you will not only be able to play your PS2 through your pc and onto your monitor but you will be able to capture your games onto the HDD, and MPEG um. :)

Oh p.s. if it is a flat screen LCD, and not a CRT monitor you will get digital drag or ghosting which will make GT and any other game look CR*P because of circuts inside dont change the pixles on the screen fast enough to keep up with the action so this happens like on Plasma tvs but this is getting better.

Stop being ignorant, Darin. TV Tuner cards are $40 and take 2 minutes to install.

👍

Yep.

Look for a few things when shopping: Resolution, connectors, and...That's about it and you'll be good.

Awesome!

I need to call CompUSA and see if they supply it. Which I hope they do.
