I was browsing a car parts website the other day, when

BEYOOOOOOOOOP!

the whole thing cut out, and wouldn't stay running five minutes before it would shut off again.:ouch:

it's in the shop, and me and my mother (who is very aggrivated her boredom remover is down for the count; she's a surf nut) are using my cousin's to get our dose of goodies. the tech I talked to before dropping it off said it sounded like a heat problem. when I took it in, he immediatly said "we'll see if it's worth it". ARRGH!

why can't people accept that some of us can't afford to replace the whole thing? it didn't even come with the disks! i hope they still buil drive slaving capabilities in.

does this sound like overheating to you? the comp runs for about five minutes, then immediatly shuts off, except for the Power Scource fan, which stays running.

I was given a PC a few weeks back which had a similar sounding problem. Mine was down to the heatsink and fan becoming slightly detached from the CPU/Motherboard. It also broke the seal made by the thermal paste between the back of the CPU and the bottom of the heatsink.

I'm now typing this from the keyboard of a brand new eMachines unit.

I had to call the shop. five transistors blew their caps, destroying the motherboard. everything else was untouched.

all our private material, favorites, and paperwork are now trapped on a 40 gig HD that I have to slave into a brand new machine. I also have to swap out a very old 10 gig to get my original net material off.
