Computer sound out to power amp

I have seen adapters which enable you to run sound out from your computer to your power amp. The ones I've seen have on plug into the computer and a composite into the amp. Simple enough. But my computer has integrated sound with three jacks, pink, green, and blue, I think. Will the adapter I described work with this set-up? If so, which color would I plug it into? If not, would I need to get a sound card?

Also, if you have suggestions for brands, etc., I'm all ears.

Pink is usually microphone and I forget what the blue is. This soundcard must have some kind of software with it, alot of which will allow you to remap the microphone or blue socket to be an output. I don't know if you can make it a constant output though.

One of these leads will run straight into your amp.

The only problem being that if it is a standard output from your computer, the volume on the computer will control the volume on the amp and may become distorted when turned up too much.

The above should work fine. I've got my laptop connected to my sound system in the same way, and my school does the same thing in classrooms (laptop into amp into speakers).

Btw, if you just want to do that, there's really no need to go and get such a high-spec soundcard. Any standard card will give a 3.5mm output.

Green is usually the standard L/R output for most sound cards that I've seen.

Hey Pako. I've been well. Got a new baby boy this past summer. You know, sometimes I reflect back on some of the religion debates on the opinion forum and think to myself "I never would've thought I'd end up thinking so much like Pako." I guess a couple little boys can make you re-evaluate.

Not needing a sound card would be great now that I know the green plug is the one to use. My comp is a newer Dell and has integrated sound. I think I will just use it and save myself some bucks.

👍 Glad to hear all is well and congrats on the little milefile's, they can have a tendency to change your life in more ways then you could have ever imagined. :)

Integrated audio isn't bad. It used to be that you needed every ounce of extra processing power so a separate audio card to relieve additional CPU load was required.... With CPU speeds today along with additional ram and mobo chipsets, integrated audio just doesn't tax the system like it used to and it can do a damn fine job all the same.
