If you've got a comfortable chair, it's should be pretty comfy. 👍

I'm representing the North Delta side in BC. :dopey:

👍 North delta's crazy. Sun, i think i've found my dream speakers and i actually got a pretty comfy chair(no idea how far back this thing can go). The speakers are crazy you can upgrade em for 50- 100 $$$ and they become 7.1s or i might by the s750 those will rape my ears...👍

I'd suggest going to Costco, they've got Logitech Z3's for a sweet $69.99 after mail-in rebates. I love the a speakers! I don't think Creative Labs would be very high in quality, stick with the Logitechs, believe me. 👍

I'm going to probaly buy these and use the warranty i get to its full extent and if i dont like em return em. its full proof

Indeed, it's best to do that stuff with Costco, 2 months ago I returned a pair of Cobra walkie-talkies, and I just found the battery charging clip last week.

My speakers so suck. They are 4-piece MidiLand speakers with subwoofer. Only 2 speakers and my sub are working. I want to get better speakers......

Join the party. I'm going to get my speakers i just gotta cough up a little money.

i might buy cheap speakers and buy a sub and build the speakers myself like burnout did.
The s700 has the same sub as the s750. Same speakers. That's why it's upgradable. The Creative Labs are arguably the best 5.1 computer system on the market. And most definitely the best 7.1.

I own the Creative Cambridge soundworks DTT2200 5.1.....believe me the dont sound like normal creative speakers... I got these speakers about 4 years ago and they still sound fantastic.got it for around 1400Dhs (which is around $380)

they are crystal clear and the subwoofer delivers a very deep and powerful bass...and there is no distortion at high peak levels
build quility is also superb..
they are one of the best I've heard as compared to altec lansing...(but not as good as the s750..WHOA)

I really would like to buy the Gigaworks s750....

its true that the creative speakers are not that good in terms of quality...
BUT ..The creative cabridge soundworks are totally different to normal creative speakers like inspire.

trust me ...the s750 is THE BEST SPEAKERS I'VE HEARD SO FAR....the main disturbuters for these speakers gave me a demo....and there was ABSOLUTLY NO DISTORTION at 98DB.....its was simply amazing...

one of the main reasons for that type of sound is because it is certified by THX.
once its THX certified...you know those speaker will perform to the limit!!

btw...I'm a audiophile person :sly:

Ha, no distortion at 98 dB. It goes quite a bit louder than that without any noticable distortion. Especially the s750, which has quite a bit more power than the s700. I used to have a $50 set of Logitech speakers with a max volume of something like 85 decibels. These easily get 4-6 times as loud as that without any noticable distortion (easily 100-105 dB). I can hear these outside, with no distortion, and I have insulated walls and dual pane glass. And that's the s700. Not that I actually listen to anything that loud, this was in the second week, after I got over my fear of breaking them and wanted to see how loud they would get. The answer is pretty damn loud.
Plus, that 210-watt sub sure makes explosions fun.

My Logitech Z3's are crackling when I turn up the volume. It sucks to watch movies now. Anyone know what's wrong? I'm consulting with Joel at the moment.

It probaly needs some lite re-wiring, but most of the time its stupid things like if u got a cell phone or some other electronics around it the speakers will go nuts. Or the wire could be lose.

Oh yeah?

My brother's Civic can do 145db with no distortion!

Remember; to each his own. 👍
Yes, but in what frequency range? I prefer fidelity to volume, myself (not that I'm opposed to volume!). And I think that's a made up number. That's beyond the pain threshold. Like, far beyond it. So how the hell do you know if there's distortion? The answer is you don't, so don't say that you do.

actually the threshhold of pain is at around 140db...so it isnt that far away....
and it doesnt have to be 145 db from where he is standing, the system may give out a 145db
but from where he is standing he maybe hearing less than 120.. so he could make out whether or not is distorting..

the guys civic must be for competition use only where they can measure the amount of decibles givin...

but then again I prefer fidelity to volume like what Timmotheus said. :)

does your bro have an Earthquake system by any chance??

cause I saw this site about a civic using an earthquake system doing..143.2 dB (SPL)
linky

btw how would you compare the megaworks 650 to the s700/750....do they perform the same as the s700/750?,do they have the same subwoofer box as the s700/750?

rite now I have the audigy2 6.1 ....so I'm thinking of buying the megaworks 650 6.1

or should I go for the gigaworks s700 5.1?!

The gigaworks sounds much better, but it's decidedly more expensive. And it's also louder. The problem with him being far away at that volume is that, yes the volume itself might be lower, but if you're far enough away for the signal to decrease something insane in volume like that (about three times, when referring to 20dB), the high end is probably going to drop off anyway, and that's usually where distortion occurs first, so it's not a fair test. Just so you people know, the decibel scale is logarithmic. This means, in a nutshell, that something will get twice as loud for every additional 10 decibels. It really gives you some perspective when comparing 145 dB to the pain threshold, of which 140 dB is a high estamite, as I usually hear it's around 130 to 135. A jet taking off from 25 meters away is 140 decibels. Yeah, that's loud.

Really? I've got an alarm clock, printer all-in-one, and a lamp around my speakers.

👍

To tell the volume, a db meter is used by a guy with headphones, and the distortion thing comes from standing not directly where the sound is 145db.

The resident frequency of the cabnet is 35hz, just so you know.

He doesn't have an Earthquake system, but a custom made one.

Right now there are two 10" in a custom bandpass box, each having a peak of 1600MHz. He's adding two Infinity for a wider range while conserving clarity.

Remember, fellows, there is such a thing as a volume nob. You don't have to crank it, and I must say, it sounds good at everyday listening levels. 👍

Unless the sound is measured from the focal point of the sound waves, there's an amount of distortion inherent in the sound, because the high end drops off. That effect on actual sound quality is negligible, but unless you're using thousands of dollars of equipment of measure frequency response versus output, there's no way to tell if there was any distortion. Which was really me entire point. I'd love to be able to play crap that loud though, I could definitely break some windows.

Window breaking...Indeed.

When I said no distortion, I was talking about the frequency the system was put together to be loudest, if so desired, at. In this case, that would be the resident frequency of 35 Hz. However, the system was also designed for decent sound in the everyday listening environment.

Also, when referring to my no distortion statement, I was inquiring about no audible distortion, or distortion that can be heard by the human ear. It is true that there was most likely distortion, but by the time the sound waves reached a distance as to where the human ear and clearly hear it without being so loud it damages the hearing, the distortion was not noticeable. And, obviously, in the car, with the earplugs on, you wouldn't be able to hear the distortion either. I suppose, without very expensive equipment, the exact amount of distortion is indistinguishable.

It is dang loud, though. :dopey:
