Concentration - "zone" effect

I know this sounds weird, but I haven't really zoned since I played GT2 :scared:

I used to honestly look away from the screen for about half the race to talk to my brother, occasionally glancing at the screen, and then look back to find I'd been driving perfectly.. I liked GT2 and all, but I didn't play it nearly as seriously as I play GT4. I'm only 15 now, so I guess I was a bit young to be really good when I played GT2. GT4 has me completely obsessed, with 72 golds to my name and a whole bunch of driving I'm damn proud of, but still no zoning :nervous:

Beats me :sly:

Ah, this is called "right concentration". Part of the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhist teachings.

... and "right effort", too, I suppose. When you're in "the zone", You don't push the car, you don't wait on the edge to brake at the exact minute, you don't "over drive" the car. It seems effortless, the car seems to drive itself.

... and "right intention". You aren't into turning the fastest possible time. You aren't into winning. You're just driving.

.... and "right thought". When you come up behind a car going slower than you, you plan your pass. You think ahead a turn or two, setting yourself up for the place where you can quickly pass, instead of just stupidly ramming the car from behind, or wedging thru on the inside.
