Concept Car and Ptototype Car

Is there a difference between these two or are they the same thing?

Concept Cars are dream machines. Prototypes are testbeds for a production car in the near future.

Although most everything nowadays is called concept cars.

Prototypes don't necessarily have to be one-of-a-kind. Often, there will be several identical prototypes.

Essentially, the prototype is a pre-production version of a car that is nearing production. A concept car is an experimental vehicle, which serves both as a concept for a new vehicle and as a testbed for advanced features.

And more often then not, there are prototypes of concept cars.

Check the Nissan 350Z as an example.
