They are considered in the same 'league' if you'd like as road cars usually (stuff like Furai and X2010 are obvious exceptions), but they aren't technicaly road legal usually.

Fair enough what about a v w nardo, (im guessing not )

VW Nardo is classed as a road car, as the remote races proved since you can race against one. If it comes on Sports: Hards then it tends to be more road-class. If it's a race car-style concept it'll most likely come on Racing: Hards.

I'd say yes, purely based on the fact that when they turn up in the UCD they actually have mileage on them, some more than others. If they were true concepts there wouldn't, technically, be any miles on them. After all, how far is it from trailer to stand at the Geneva/Tokyo etc motor shows? >:0)

Some cars like the Ford GT LM Race car concept aren't intended to be road-legal, whereas the GT-R Proto is intended to be so ;)

What is even more puzzling is how they all drive to start with, most of them were just exterior display models when the concept was released, and didn't have an engine or a functioning interior.

Arghhh stop filling my brain with puzzles.

Good points from all , thanks.
No ones said anything about me racing with it even though i win a fair bit with it. I did get smashed by some amg merc today thought.

Does anybody know if the proto will get an interior in spec 2.0?

Wouldn't it have one since it's already premium? I don't own one so I can't say for sure. And are you sure you're not thinking of the GT-R Tokyo Concept '01. It's a standard. Also I believe all cars are getting and interior that will be plain black in 2.0

The '05 Proto (Premium) will NOT have an interior, the real Proto was only a mock up and had no interior, engine, or major components.
