There has been a lot of talk about this car coming into production and taking place of the current Dodge Challenger. When ? Not for sure, possibly '14 or '15 ?

Looks pretty cool, we'll see what the future holds for this offering from Chrysler.

They put even less effort into designing that than they did with the Challenger (though on the other hand, it doesn't seem to have the problem with critical amounts of fatness that the Challenger had in its styling; probably because they did stick a lot closer to the original). I also still don't particularly understand why Dodge won't simply redesign the Challenger rather than tossing the nameplate entirely (again) when the car moves over to SRT.

Also, needs to have a cheese grater.

I don't like it. It looks like a challenger with a bodykit, it's fat, it's ugly and they used the wrong inspiration. This was the barracuda they should have modeled it on:

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a badly modified Challenger?

No, it does look like a modified Challenger... but i actually think it looks better than the fugly Challenger.
Dodge should have definitely built that instead of the Challenger (IMHO).

I'd rather have one of these

Or the Demon concept. Or a Firepower. The Challenger/Cuda is still ugly and probably still very overweight. They should have just made a lighter Challenger that isn't desperately trying to fool people into thinking it's from the 70's.

Honestly they should just take the already bad ass looking Challenger, change the grill to the Barracuda style, and call it a day.

Are you people really think that's a "concept car"? It appearing at SEMA doesn't tell you anything? Not a tiny bit?

That thing SMACKS of custom SEMA car.

Yeah, i thought that was the case (remember seeing it a while ago in a magazine), reminds me of the way they convert Camaro's into Ponti's... just think it's a real shame that dodge didn't have the foresight to do something like the SEMA Cuda, instead of that fugly slab-sided piece of junk (Challenger)... it's amazing what some flared arches, bumper moulds and CF does to improve the design.

The Concept Cuda was more than a Challenger with a body kit. Front and Rear Fenders are different. Notice the Challenger has a Side body line that follows with the Upkick in the rear. The Cuda has a Body Line that goes strait from the Front to rear. Also the Roofline is Alterted to look more chooped. they shaved the Rear pillar to be slimmer and the whole roofile is tilted back.

Yes, they did all of that. It still smacks of SEMA custom car. If you don't think custom car builders go to such lenghts to make a statement, you're way wrong. Completely custom bodys have been with us since the 50s.

Come on, do you really think Mopar would use such butt-ugly aftermarket wheels on a concept car?

It still looks like a badly modified Challenger. I don't care how much they tried, it's still rubbish. Build us a whole new car that is a better sports car than Camaro or Mustang, and let the Challenger get as fat and cushy as it likes. It'll sell, this is America.

Yeah, wheels are pretty hideous.
As far as being a custom.. Yeah i buy that, reminds me a bit of what Foose did to that Thunderbird quite a while back (chopped and sloped etc).

Overall though, custom/concept or not.. for me it still looks 10 times better than the hideous Challenger, i understand the Challenger floats some peoples boats, but it definitely doesn't float mine. :yuck:

[EDIT]
Just checked pics of the Foose Thunderbird... probably not the best example afterall, put i'm sure people get the picture.

I think that Dodge needs to make the Challenger look even more like the old one, even though there is quite a bit of resemblance. The new one just looks like it got old and gained weight. They also really need to make the Charger look like the old one. They are so different looking. I say do these two things and they don't need a new car.

I don't think that dodge will be able to make the cuda, especially loosing their spot in NASCAR then stating that they couldn't afford to make their own team after penskie racing dropped dodge but who knows they might make the new cuda into like a 200c R/T instead of copying the challenger

Yes apparently it's supposed to be a replacement, but I can't see them doing a whole lot with it without pissing a bunch of people off. They need to go mid '60s fastback style I think, but I doubt it will happen as this and the '70 body style are infinitely more popular.

I like the '70 body style more they did paint themselves in corner styling wise. I wish they could make the damn thing smaller.
