Condemned PC Demo - jesus man!

Unimpressed. The graphics while atmospheric were also irritating, what was with the Sepia thing on cut scenes? I hated the physics, and I couldn’t understand why the AI kept hiding in locations in full view of me as opposed to hiding out of sight. The thing which really ruined the game for me was the controls, there was no way of knocking down obstacles, the kick seemed un-aimed, the movement wasn't precise enough and the aiming was over reactive. The only thing which came close to scaring me was when I saw my first foe, one bullet and the enemy crumpled.

The best thing about this game was easily the weapons, the firearms all felt reassuringly powerful (with the possible exception of the shotgun which sounded like a No8 .22 cadet rifle) and the melee weapons felt solid and, after a while, suitably blood caked. However the weapon system had its flaws, I hated being unable to carry two or more weapons, being able to put a handgun in your pocket and have an axe in your hand would have added extra realism and made switching weapons in a fire fight an option.

Edit: No, dont bother PMing me, I am CERTAIN that the games shortcomings have nothing to do with my hardware!
 
Yeah it felt a bit juddery when i played it. Probably just a glitch in the demo that will be fixed for the final release though.
 
Oh I only had one situation when a enemy appeard 10 meters in front of me, threw his crow bar and I was hit! That was the only thing where I was a bit surprised but the game runs smoothly and looks great on my "old" hardware.

I'd like to play F.E.A.R because these cutscenes are just grest and scary. Doom3 looks like a kindergarten game to me now :D

Yeah, the game's physics are questionable at best, I was hit with a pipe by somone on the other side of a wall.
 
Why hadn't I picked up on this game before? I haven't downloaded the demo, but just looking at the screens on Gamespy, it looks like one to add to the collection. 👍
 
Maybe a dumb question, I know it's a demo but I just shot down 2 enemies with pistols, then the game gave me a hint to sprint with shift, and next room I saw an enemy running away...I ran after it (thinking the sprint tip wasn't for nothing) and I just saw the stranger running off through some garbage and a wooden board thing was in my way. I cant seem to continue from that point?! Is that the 400MB I downloaded?!

I just finished playing, and it looks like this game is using the same graphics engine as FEAR. Am i correct?

You are correct. So far I like Condemned better than FEAR though, but I've only played the demo so I should keep my mouth shut. I picked up the PC version last night, can't wait to get home and play tonight.
 
Wow just saw that when I went back in the previous room, a door closed...the game gets on my nerves and I dunno if I like those games very much lol. I like how the detective bit is implemented with the gadgets and stuff, it allows for some discovery freedom somehow.

Just finished the demo, it was great but I'd like just plain fun games over games that get on my nerves lol.
 
I just found my favorite weapon ever in Condemned: The Paper Cutter. Unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot... but holy crap that is some sick gameplay.
 
I found the demo to be very short, i definatley got to the end. Where did you guys find these paper cutters and shotguns?
 
Shotgun is in a room which you need the fire axe to acsess (it tells you when you go up to the door) it is a side room and it only contains the shotgun.

By the way, the shotgun isn't a particularly good weapon and it has a pretty rubbish sound for somthing that's supposed to be the level's ultimate weapon.

The paper cutter isn't in the demo, at least I don't think. I bought the full version of Condemned, so get all the cool weps (meat cleaver was a good one, I also liked the table leg in the abandoned store, did some serious damage).
