OK, I've been on here grumping quite a bit about all the things I hate about GT6 for a while now. It's too boring, too hard to make money, too this, too that, you know how it goes...

Cards on the table, though... I just had a race, and it was fun... I'll spare you all the gory details, but it was the most fun I've had racing in a Gran Turismo game in a very long time...

Not sure if the stars aligned or what, but it genuinely felt like the AI drivers were fighting for positions at Brands Hatch... The car never nose-stood or did anything insane, other than trying to get sideways when I got too hard on the throttle as (to the best of my knowledge) cars actually do...

It was tense, it was close racing, there was actual battling with the AI drivers... The PP limits for the series seemed to fit my car about perfect... It was a blast...

So I'm here to confess that perhaps I've been whining and moaning too much about GT6 and I was wrong... I know it has a million and a half different glitches and problems, but it also has some moments of true brilliance... Now it's just a matter of time before the moments of greatness outweigh the moments of aggravation, and if I know anything about PD that time will be coming sooner rather than later...

Ah well...

I think we've all had those moments with GT6 and the series in general; those magic moments where it's not to easy, to hard or to suck and for those few moments we remember just why we love this game so much.

And that's EXACTLY why I complain.

Becaus there are so many opportunities for greatness in this game and so many little frustrating things that constantly irritate and annoy instead of making us blissfully happy.

We've all seen little things as a community that we agree need to be changed and yet they don't get changed. Instead we get moon missions, perfect night environments and promises of upcoming Sony movies instead. It makes me wonder where is the real focus at PD and what are the real priorities there.

That being said, I agree those magic moments make it all worthwhile and I, like I believe you, hope and wish for more of those and will keep playing for those moments of bliss

I have something to confess as well. Like you I've been aboard the moan train, & with just cause as this game does have it's problems. However, while driving the Aston Martin Vantage V12 on The Ring 24 Hour I had the most awesome time. The car was so lively, & a real challenge to hold onto. I couldn't just jump over every kerb & take certain corners a gear up as per usual. I felt like I could no longer do a "game lap", but had to drive it like I was really in that car, really driving on that track, & doing a "real world lap".

Even with it's flaws, there's something about this game that no other simulation has. I'm not sure exactly what it is, it's...something special...that I can't really describe.

Since we're all confessing...
I wanted to have something new to have fun with during the xmas holidays. So based on the reviews, I went out today and bought a copy.
Of Forza 4 that is.
Though it's 3 years old, to me it's new, and the car list is much more up-to-date than GT6's car list.

And you just made... The wrong decision oh dear.

Confession?
Okay. Three attempts at that STUPID STUPID STUPID "Rain Masters" race at Sarthe. Three times I calmly and methodically worked my way to the front. And three times that (STUPID STUPID STUPID) Ferrari FXX nudged my rear end into a ridiculous spin with less than a half lap to go.

My confession is that on the fourth attempt I blew right through the sand at both roundabouts and built up enough of a lead so that the FXX couldn't nudge me again. Race over. Three stars. I'm never going back. And I ain't the least bit sorry. hahahahaha.

Whats wrong with having the moon missions in the game. Note the last word in the first sentence, game. I though it was pretty cool to have that in there. Great graphics. I just hope you can actually have a on-line race on the moon. How fun would that be?

Enjoy 👍 ; i remember those first days playing FM4, and to quote somebody else "not have punched myself in the face for not making that step earlier". Great game and a true eye opener if you only knew GT so far.

Don't forget to put on simulation steering.

When I downloaded the demo a couple of days ago, I turned off all assists except ABS, just like I did in GT5. My initial thought was "GT's physics are better, this feels too arcadey". Then I changed the steering mode to simulation, and suddenly it was "hey where have you been all my life?"
15€ for the game plus probably the Porsche expansion pack later on, I can do without the monthly car packs: to quote the GT fanboys, "that's less than going to McDonalds" (a couple of times).

I hope I didn't turn this into a GT vs FM thread. Because GT would lose.

moon mission is way more fun than driving a nascar billboard in a circle

...and here we go slating NASCAR.
Yep. It's alot more than driving in a circle for 200-500 laps. It's all about timing your pit stops right, as well as making the correct adjustments to your car at the correct time. Plus i'm sure the NASCAR-haters are players who participated in the ever-so-popular-yet-unrealistic dirty NASCAR lobbies and think you just go full throttle into every corner bumping anyone you can. In proper NASCAR, you're going door-to-door at 180+mph through corners. We're talking like 3 inches apart (if that). One tiny slip-up can ruin the race for a load of drivers, because in real life, all it takes is one crash to destroy your NASCAR.
Those who think NASCAR is all about making left turns has either never seen a NASCAR race, or are just hopping on the Bandwagon Of Bull:censored:.

You just said everything that goes through my mind when someone down talks NASCAR.

Usually I can deal with haters but when someone knocks a racing series for such completely arbitrary reasons that's going too far.

the next thing someone will probably say is "nascar drivers are athletes" donovan mcnabb has the correct idea on that subject

I have been having fun from the start. No tuning, and only using prize cars helped. For example I used the Corvette Stingray in, I think it was, the 400pp Clubman Cup with a limit of 500pp. Maybe it was the 500pp Clubman Cup with a higher limit? Anyway racing against modern cars with that was a blast, just drifting around the Autumn Ring and other tracks. Also netted a trophy 'Old Dog, New Tricks'.

If you want to keep trolling GTP with anti-NASCAR comments, put it somewhere else.

This is a thread about GT6, not what some retired football player said about NASCAR. And you're clearly just trying to stir up some trouble.

The sounds woke me up in forza 4 but the physics seemed to have some underlining aids going on. For me, i like Forza sounds and gt6 physics...well most of the cars anyway.

Rion Moon complaining about moon missions? Now I have seen everything.

Lol

Not surprisingly I like the moon missions!

I just think the time it took to program and implement the moon missions would have been better spent on say...AI that doesn't Pitt Manuever me without penalty

This is what I think a lot of people's problem is, they never delve deep enough to give it a chance. Things have only gotten better physics-wise in 5 (despite the other issues with the game) and people are so quick to wave it off with the same old "it's arcade racing" argument. I adore both series and just wish that everyone could be happy that we have the chance to play both.

I hope I didn't turn this into a GT vs FM thread. Because GT would lose.

I'd be careful with that statement though... in my mind there is no hard and fast winner.

They ARE athletes, plain and simple. Jimmie Jonson is a prime example of what a NASCAR athlete is, and I'm not just saying that because of his 6 championships. It is the fact that he keeps himself in top shape that has helped to get him those 6 championships, among other things of course. Mark Martin is another example of a top NASCAR athlete and it is his dedication to keeping himself in shape which has led to his longevity in the sport. So yes, NASCAR drivers are in fact athletes, whether you want to admit it or not. Maybe you and Donavon should try driving 500 miles with 42 other cars around you in 100+ degree heat before spouting off such silly remarks. ;)

as the ratt is still trying to catch up from 10 days ago, i will admit i find this commercial funny because it pokes fun at the fact that nascar drivers know they are not athletes. and if i had to pick a favorite driver in nascar id pick smoke. he says what he wants, does what he wants and doesnt care who he ticks off. all the while eating cheeseburgers and being the poster boy for out of shape nascar drivers. yet the man has 2 titles

He's still stronger and fitter, physically and mentally than you are. That ad is poking fun at him being American, not what series he races in. You're terribly misinformed, stubborn and you keep trolling the thread with anti-NASCAR remarks. Just stop it.
