I really do want to get into more PC gaming but I keep having issues where my back and neck hurt after working at my desk for over 8 -10 hours. I am thinking about hooking up the PC to my TV but then I feel like that’s not kosher. I’m a mess with my choice paralysis.

Any suggestions?

You need a good quality chair that lets you sit with good posture, and vesa mount the monitor so you can get it much higher, the mounts that come with monitors put the screen hopelessly low for correct posture.

I have a flexispot C7 max and I thought that would be good enough, with vesa mounted monitors. I feel like I can’t get comfortable still

@Pepperoncini good answer! That means you have some options. If you have a PC already but don't like sitting at your desk you could get some use out of a Steam Deck since you can play games anywhere on it, stream games from your PC, plug it into your TV (and stream games to that, without moving your PC), it supports loads of input devices but has a powerful set of controls and a control editor of its own, it's a really flexible device. You can also install emulators on it very easily but that's all I'll say about that. I love mine, haven't played a game on anything else since I got it in 2022 (but I'm not much into AAA games myself, or online shooters) and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from their desk.

Failing that, you could get a Raspberry Pi and install some sort of game streaming software (Steam Link, Moonlight, etc.) on it and leave it plugged into your TV, again so you can leave your PC where it is. You could get a controller for your phone, even, like a Backbone or whatever, stream your PC to that... Finally, Valve are releasing a mini-PC that's supposedly better than 60% of existing Steam users' PCs (obviously the bottom 60%), a controller that's basically a Deck's worth of inputs and a VR headset next year which might be of interest depending on how good your PC is.

One thing I would say though is while you can get keyboards for use on your sofa/couch/settee/whatever, they're subpar. I have a Roccat Sova and used to play a lot of Insurgency with it but it's a bad way to play keyboard and mouse games AND a bad way to play games on your TV, they're just fundamentally incompatible in my opinion, so I don't think you'll get a vastly different experience PC gaming on your TV. It's more about having the same library of games available everywhere instead of one on your PC and one on your console.

Why give up consoles? No good reason. You can use both.
Not giving them up necessarily. I have my switch 2 and my ps5 still and will continue with them, I just want to find one spot to get all of my third party games and I may want to do that on PC.

Game on what you want. I exclusively played on PS5 until I bought my first gaming PC a few months ago and now have them both connected to the TV and sim rig monitor. Nothing wrong with PC gaming on the sofa and I'm quite happy using it at 4k 120hz on a big OLED.

I think that’s what I’m going to end up doing, using it on the TV!

How do you know what place you will buy a game for? Like I would have paralysis if I want to purchase on Steam or ps store

Why? You can put a PC anywhere, especially if it's a small build. Wireless keyboard/mouse/controller are not forbidden either. ;) Don't fall for the PC elitists that tell you you can only hook a PC up to a monitor and have to sit behind a desk with a wired mouse/keyboard/network, that's just BS. :)

I think any cross platform games I'll probably get on PC now due to the performance boost but still have the PS5 for console exclusives or multiplayer titles without cross play. There are also other routes to get games for free on PC if you're inclined.

I guess I have trouble figuring out where to build libraries lol
This is an interesting problem to have. As a PC/Xbox/new PS5 player I recently decided on where to buy/play Final Fantasy XVI which I was tracking for rebates. And while arguably the best deal was the discounted complete edition in the PS5 storefront, I opted instead for the standard Xbox version, why? Because of Play Anywhere (play on console and PC/handheld for the same price) AND the rewards points, which I used for 80% of the purchase price and I only had to cover the remaining US$5.

And I also work extended hours in front of my PC and doing exercises to strengthen your core and legs help with the back and neck.

Assuming the desk you sit behind at work is not the one you plan to sit behind for PC gaming?

A proper gaming chair for gaming would be fine - especially if you try using a orthopedic kneeling chair for work.

I started getting back issues about a decade or more ago and i switched from using a normal office chair to the orthopedic one and haven't looked back since (or had back pain from sitting for hours). They take a bit of getting used to, but you quickly do so and its a game changer for back pain issues. They probably wouldn't be ideal for gaming as you tend to move your body around more when you 'game' than you do when you do Excel spreadsheets or whatever office-based drudgery pays your bills.

I’d like to really use the same chair for both functions as my PC is near my work laptop. All on the same desk and monitors.

I’m lookin into more comfortable options while being able to work there for long period of time.
