Confused with GPL demo 2004

I purchased and installed the original GPL software 2 weeks ago and ... it rocks.
Now, I see there is a download for a GPL demo 2004 .
Could someone be kind enough to clear my confusion about that demo:

1) Is it a warez ?
2) What does that demo have that the original doesn't : does it have better graphics, or more cars or more tracks ?
3) Is it an adaptation of the 1998 version but modified to run better on more recent hardware ?
4) where could I find screenshots comparing the original version and the 2004 demo ?
5) Shouldn't it be easier for me to download separate extra tracks and extra cars and add them to my legally purchased original version ?

I'm really very confused.
tia for any info

Have you tried downloading it? It could be just what it claims to be.. a demo for GPL, nothing more. Just because they didn't make one before doesn't mean they can't release one later.

I downloaded and installed it yesterday, and it is a lot better than the original game, the graphics are great and the cars are very accurates ( the honda being the best example ).
The demo has 1fantastic track only ( Watkins Glen ) , but there are litterally hundreds of add-on tracks available.
In order to have the original GPL tracks in the demo, ( Spa, Silverstone, the 14km old Ring ) I just had to copy these tracks from the original GPL installation into the demo tracks.
Great game, great domo.
I have to go right now, so I can fire gPL and memorise the 90 curves at the Nurburgring.
Merry Christmas to all the GPL fans.
