Don´t know about the rest but i really do have this feeling.:scared:
When you think of something, on how good or bad it is, you usually take in consideration the Pros an Cons. I did that with GT5 and got scared...

Pros
Car physics/handling
Premium cars
Realistic sense of speed

Cons

Car sounds
Standard cars
Slipstreaming
AI
Online options and online issues
Poor career
Not enough new tracks (real circuits)
Premium/standard ratio ridiculous
Important recent cars missing

Obviously much more, but those listed to me are important and...the bad are more than double in number

Don´t get me wrong, i bought PS3 just because of GT5 and i would do it again, i won´t sell the game nor play another car racing game and i still love GT5...but...they have taken 5 years to do this...and they got me to love it... God i think i need help :banghead:

I think you need to think harder. There are way more pros than cons, you just don't realize it because it's easier to notice and point out the things that disappoint you.

If you really thought there were more cons than pros you probably wouldn't like the game.

The way I see it is there is not ONE racing game I own (and I own a lot of them) where one title suits my needs completely. They all bring something different to the table.

GT-5 (like every other title I have) has it's cons.., but for every con I can list.., I sure as hell can list 2-3 pros per con. It's not perfect.., but PD in general did a pretty good job with this game IMO.

Oh a whole.., and this applies to ALL the developers of racing games.., I wish that the community would stop pushing so hard on PHOTO-REALISTIC graphics that run at a constant 60 frames per second. So many other good things can get lost, dropped, or undeveloped because of this.

On a side note., I own both the PS3 and the Xbox. I have both major racing titles (Forza and GT) not to mention I have multiple copies of other racing titles on each platform. I've found that even owning BOTH major gaming consoles that I've yet to get that one title to fill all my needs. Granted GT has other racing classes such as Rally, NASCAR, and F1.., logically they're not going to be good at them all. That's why I have F1-2010, GRID, DIRT 1/2, NFS Shift 1 and Unleashed, Forza 2/3 (soon to be 4), PGR, Race Pro, and so on. I get something different from all of them.

The game owns me.

Car sounds - some are good and some are bad
Standard cars - well what did you expect with 1000 cars?
Slipstreaming - what's the problem with it? always worked well for me
AI - I've never seen good AI in a game, so this is really a problem with all games
Online options and online issues - I don't do much online so I can't help GT there
Poor career - I agree with you up to a point, I don't think there's enough to do
Not enough new tracks (real circuits) - I sort of agree there
Premium/standard ratio ridiculous - I still agree. Another complaint I have is that why some cars are premium when there are many more deserving standard cars that aren't (Pagani Zonda that isn't the R over the POS Autozam AZ-1 or whatever it is)
Important recent cars missing - definitely agree here, I could go on a huge rant about this but I won't. For example, who wants EVERY SINGLE model of the Mitsubishi 3000GT and GTO which are the same exact car or EVERY SINGLE model of the Mazda MX5

I can forsee this thread ending badly. I think the good is far more than the bad. Just think without GT5 you wouldn't have any game...

Sure there may be a few cons like this and that, but the pros make up for it. EG: driving physics, and amount of cars. (Excluding the multiple skylines,mx-5,3000gt,integras etc, there is still a lot of cars to drive, and the standard ones look fine, at some parts of the game the lighting effects make them look almost premium quality). Like every games, GT5 isn't perfect, maybe the successor to gt5 will change that, but for now just play gt5, the main thing I love the most in gt5 is time trial with all the driving aids off (especially in Nurburgring, driving heaven).

I do understand you... Its same for me, but I can say for sure I never played better driving game.. GT5 physics and premium cars are so awesome... I just forget about everything else, its the most important parts of any racing game for me for sure. And GT5 is getting better and better all the time... and I just know that PD will not upset us in the future as long as KAZ is alive GT will be best driving game for me!

I think even real life could get improvements but it just is what it is.

I think grinding to the point of collecting 72 Premium Cars within a 24 hour period is a sure sign that the game just might own me :sly:

Biggest con for me would be the number of hondas especially civics in GT5. Don't get me wrong, yes they are cars too but an odyssey van?! Cmon PD...that's retarded IMO...I know there are a lot of skylines and miata's which is too much IMO but who in their right mind would want to take an odyssey VAN through it's paces? Already got in trouble for "stating MY opinion"...people please remember they are just OPINIONS. Don't take it all so seriously, and also it is just a video game...you want the real experience get in your car and never let off the gas. Way more pro's than cons, just wake up and realize it, yeah PD has veered of course a little but they still made a great game "IMO".

👍:tup:Agreed Mate:tup:👍

I'd say what really irked me was a few of the vehicles that actually made it into the Premium selection. There are a number of Premiums that should have been Standards.., and a HUGE number of standards that should be Premiums.

I've played Playstation games since 1997. This is the first game that hasn't started to bore me after a few weeks. It has been eight months since i started playing Gran Turismo 5 and I keep coming back for more. In many ways not much different to Gran Turismo from 1998 but more addictive than ever before. Online, physics and premium cars help a lot.

I second that! :)

Well maybe I will get away with that one. Mods tend to get all pissy when I bash hondas...big whoop, so sue me. LMAO, JUST OPINIONS

THe car you should be ranting about is the Sirion/Storia (besides the X4). The Odyssey is actually a pretty fun van. But that's just my opinion.

I bought TDU2 today to get my mind off of GT5......man does it suck compared to GT5, and the original TDU. So after about 30 minutes of playing TDU2, I got really bored and started playing GT5.

You man, have just made my day. This is exactly the way I think.

I love the game. I praise it's realistic physics and it's astounding graphics, I love most of it.

But I just don't see where the 5 years have gone. I loathe the car selection (Why do they think petrolheads around the world want to drive crap econoboxes????). I hate it's career mode and the online one too. And B-Spec is just an utter fail. The AI is too slow, and can only beat me with overkill cars which annoys me.

What to do????????? Agh!!!

💡

BMW M3 around Nordschleife. That'll fix my problems 👍.

The point is that it is a damn VAN...yes I'm sure there are worse cars but spare us the pain of having to look or come across a VAN in a realistic RACING game. If someone wanted to race the van, I would laugh till I cried and bash them too...sorry but vans aren't meant to be fast, they are meant to lug your family of 6 around or get groceries. I will also say that there are some nissans that should have never made it to the game, honestly, but I don't honestly think it gets worse than a van or a schwimmwagen or whatever it is. Just stupidity and selfishness IMO. PD could have made so much more money if they would just LISTEN to CONSUMERS. The people that buy their products, don't you think they deserve a little more? Such as the DLC we were promised? Never enough is it?

So to answer OP, I do infact find myself confused on why I love this game....until I take a Veyron out or a twin turbo 300 zx. Then I remember why because its freaking awesome! And we all live for speed, whether it be virtual or reality.

Yeah, GT5 has been very addictive, online, seasonal events, time trial, go carting, rally, Formula gran turismo. GOD, this game is massive like all the other GT games, it's worth more than it's price. I just wish people would rather play these type of racing simulation games than just Call of Duty. I really always tell my friends/cousins to play gt5, but no they're too blind to even realize how much better the gt franchise is than overrated, cheesy, bugy and unrealistic COD. BTW COD is a good game but is too overrated than it should be.:indiff:

I played gt5 constant day in day out, for the first 3 or 4 months after release. I got bored/frustrated/bored again and didnt play for another 3 months or so. I then got shift 2, wasnt happy with the way it felt (awful input lag) and im now loving gt5 again. Just spent the last week or so doing all the seasonal events ive missed over and over again.

Try time trial in Nurburgring with all driving aids off in an F40. You will have an awesome sim experience.

Why would NOT play another game? Thats pretty silly. Your missing on a ton. F1 2010 and 2011 soon, Shift2, Dirt1-3, come on now!

I personally have found way more cons than pros. Thats why I play GT5 for B-spec when I am doing other things. A Spec? No thanks. Collecting cars is fun. Playing dress up with your drivers is fun...for a few minutes.

The fact people really deep down think this is a simulator freaks me out. 1, The lack of real damage 2, the ease of driving over rumble strips AND grass...and sand 3, and the funny dukes of hazard jumps landing from 30 feet in the air with no problems 4, the lack of cockpit views (how can you be a sim when you are driving like wonder woman in her invisable jet?) 5, and finally the lack of real world tracks with all their configurations. Its call a sim, but it sure dont act like one.

PD did do a good job in some areas though. The brainwashing of people to think GT5 is the must have game if you like car games. People end up close-minded and are not willing to trek out into other games because heaven forbid they like something else. Why do you think people have huge flame wars over GT5 vs or Forza? Because people have been TOLD to like this or that....not both or all. Its pathetic.

I prefer the racing, sense of speed, real tracks, and ability to customize my cars, visually and performance wise, so my main racing game is Shift2. I like the fun style of rally, so I also play Dirt. I like the practice/qualify/race of F1 cars so I play F1. I like to make an ugly, outlandish lowrider with daytons and neon, so I play Midnight Club. I like to play pokemon with cars, so I play GT5. Why cornhole yourself???

WOW, I'f you don't call it a sim, then that's just you. Because so many other people agree and call it a sim. And no no one told any one to like GT. You may think it like that because it has a lot of fans. The reason why it has a lot of fans is because it is a good racing game. And NFS SHIF 2'S tracks are not even that realistic or precise, shift 2 doesn't even come close to what a sim does. And no in GT5 your speed does get affected in gravel and sand. So, NO GT5 does act like a driving simulator. For a game that has formula 1 cars, rally cars, le mans cars, GT1 cars etc all put together in ONE game is astonishing. I'd like to see codemasters and EA make a game like that. Also do you really expect a game would have 1000 fully detailed cockpit views ? BTW I do play games like dirt, F1 2010, grid etc.Like other people I just play GT5 more because it's a better game .
