Anyhow recently I have been replaying both Aero Wings 2 and Aero Elite Combat Academy(DC,PS2) and it hit me why don't we have any kind of realistic flight sims like these(not the Ace Combat games given the fact they're technically unrealistic in every way) on the PS4/Xbox One?

For me it's impossible to recreate the same kind of steering sensitivity and button layout as in BoS.

There are a few hundred commands in a good modern combat sim.
You would need a keyboard and mouse, by that point you might as well get a PC.

There's also no demand for a combat sim on console.

I'd enjoy a new game like Sky Odyssey (PS2). It wasn't super realistic, but it made more of an attempt at being a simulator than a game like Ace Combat, and the peaceful gameplay was a fresh alternative to combat or the directionless sandbox you usually get with a flight sim.

Aero Elite Combat Academy

I still fire up my PS2 to play it. What I usually find myself doing is, quickly navigating in and out of the menus to activate the Scramble game mode. Unlocked quite a few planes that way, and they're quite fun.

But yes, we need more MODERN flight sims.

However, when you think about modern aero combat, it comes down to who locks on first. No skill in flight required when you have targeting systems that lock onto a target 8 miles away.

I don't know if you played Battlefield 3, but there was a mode called Air Domination. Basically nothing but jets. That didn't go well, as all you saw was flares and smoke. You couldn't stay in the air for more than 10 seconds before you heard that annoying beep.

Which is why I find WWII flight sims and even WWI dogfigthing sims are a lot more entertaining than jets.
