I'm growing a bit desperate here; i own a orange livebox as a router which worked fine so far, but lately i keep having these constant small disconnects.

Every 5 minutes, a little yellow triangle appears on my internet bar, the internet disconnects for a couple of seconds and automatically reconnects again causing small cuts. Very annoying so the past days I've been reading up everything on the net and i can't seem to find a single solution as there's so much different factors that could cause this.

I already reset it, restored factory settings, set the primary and secondary DNS servers of google on my connection instead of having the router find one automatically, but it doesn't really improve the situation...

Please help!

Have you contacted your ISP. It could be a problem on their end.

It could also be that the router needs replacing.

Can you access the security log via the admin log in to the router and see what reason is behind the disconnects?

Three weeks ago my wireless router modem started D/Cing every 5-10 mins for 2-3 mins at a time. After googling the error logs, it was either my ISP line or the router playing up. As it was 5 years old, I replaced it and haven't had an issue since.

Hi, @DQuaN the router is practically brand new, and seeing that i didn't have these problems before, i think it must be either some internal router settings, or indeed the line itself. I'll spend some more time jerking around with it before i call my ISP, to see if i can fix it myself. If you would have other router tips feel free to advise 👍

@Mike Rotch ; yes it sounds like you had exactly the same problem as me. This morning i had problems again and then i updated my firmware and all of a sudden it seems better now (knock wood), i only had 2 disconnect in the last couple of hours and managed to play online even. Let's see but i bet the next time i reboot it, it will start all over again every 5 mins...
If it does i'll check the log and post it here so you can take a look at it. As I said before it's a brand new livebox so i do not think it would be the router, but more the settings, possible interference, or the line itself giving me problems.
Did you also have the little yellow triangle appearing on your internet bar every time your connection dropped, and did the lights on your rooter work normal? (mine do)

Have you tried replacing the filter(s)? Do the drops correspond to the phone ringing at all?

How would you replace the filters, I haven't heard about this before? No the drops do not correspond to the phone ringing. I unplugged the IP phone from the router even yesterday but that didn't help neither.

Well my joy didn't last very long, since i wrote my last post it has been going down every 3 minutes...

Unfortunately that log is not really giving any information.

The filter should be between the router and the phone line. There should be one on each phone socket in the house that has a phone connected to it.

Get a line check done.

They will most likely say no fault, but do not let that be the end of it.

I had the same kind of issue.

I went through 5 modems, had a guy come out a install a central line filter and still had the issues and this was over 6 months.
Then i complained to our Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman(TIO), 2days after I complained I get a call from my ISP stating there is a major line fault outside my house.
They come and they fix it, never had a disconnection since.

@DQuaN I was checking that one out yesterday evening, but as the problem remained even after i disconnected the phone completely i think this wouldn't solve the problem.

Actually i just got off the phone with Orange; and I was lucky enough to have a competent bloke at the line; that tested the line and admitted there was a problem with it :D

They are gonna send a technician over ;)

Thanks for the help guys

I'm just gonna throw this out there if you're still interested. By any change is this a wifi connection? If so, how old is the network adapter in the computer? I'm thinking your network card/wifi is dying. Mine did the same thing right before it stopped working altogether. First it started dropping connections, then finding connections but couldn't connect, then nothing.

Hi, no the technician came today and it turns out they installed the wiring wrong in the relay chamber down below in our app. block. He hooked them up and all is perfect now!

(router is also brand new).

Cheers!
