I am going to get contact lenses this year. :D I have gotten so tired of glasses. such a pain.. but anyway, Does anyone have reccomendations for different types of contacts, or anything I need to look out for? I have heard a lot of good things about Night&Days contacts, bu tI wanted more opinions.

I still use the cheap, "annual" type lenses, due to the low prices. I think they're Baush and Lomb.
 
If I remember correctly, like $20 each? Something like 40 bucks for a pair. I go to this place that used to be called "America's Contacts & Glasses" or something along that line. I think there's a good chance, there's one by where you live too. This place is really pushy and kind of cheap establishment, but this allows them to lower the prices. I have this $99 agreement that allows me to have as many tests done as I'd like for free, for three years. The $99 membership also entitles you to get the discounted contact lens. You should look into it.

Woah, I thought they'd be more expensive then glasses.. Thats a great price.
 
I use Acuvue2 disposable from Johnson & Johnson. Worn them off an on for the past 8 years. Currently in the off portion. Sometimes glasses are easier because you can just take them off and don't need to take your contacts out.
 
If i got contacts, they'd be full time, Im blind as a bat without vision correction. :indiff:
 
Had glasses for 11-12 years here.


Wanting contacts. Next time I go to the dotor, I am gonna ask if I can get contqacts in my presvcription.

Yeah. I tend to wear glasses around home, contact lens for work, going out. Utilizing both contact lenses and glasses is a great way to go. The best way is supposedly the laser surgery. Used to cost thousands of $$$, now hundreds of $$$? I'm starting to think about it. :)
 
Yeah, but the surgery isn't perfect yet. There are still people that go blind from it.

That's the way to go. 👍 I've always considered eye surgery but am skeptical. It would be nice to be an officer in the Air Force and fly jets though.
 
Two of my coworkers had the laser eye surgeries. One a few years ago, the other like two years ago. They swear by them. However, I have heard the horror story like the silverzone's talking about. On the news, just the other day, they were talking about some lady who now see spots with one of her eyes, due to some faulty surgery. :nervous:
 
i can't fathom sticking something in my eyeballs. that's like heretic. I can't even open my eyes under water. glasses suck though. they make your vision progressively worse.

thank god for 20/20.

Damn, you're lucky! On sticking something on eyeballs..... :lol: I used to feel the same way, when my friend in high school had contacts. It looked so painful, when he was putting them in. :sick: In actuality, you get used to it, like on the day you get it.
 
Yeah, my cousin said that it took him 45 minutes t get his contacts in and and out at first, but now he doesnt even need a mirror to put them in.

The first few days are Hell. It took me 20 minutes to get them in the first few times. Now I can get both in in under a minute. I recommend contacts over glasses, but if you can afford a good laser eye surgeon, go that route. A co-worker saved up and got it, and she loves it. It makes life much easier.

I want night & day contacts, but My mom thinks that is hogwash. She won't let me get them. Sleeping in my contacts (which I do, from time to time due to laziness) is hell. It burns a lot.

One of the things about having contacts is when you're swimming, you can't open your eyes underwater, it stings too much.

I sometimes nap with lens in, too. :lol: It really sucks.

Yeah, the contact's not great when you wanna go in the water. :guilty:
 
I can't wear glasses in the pool so it doesn't matter regardless on that aspect for me.
 
i have glasses, but i don't wear them so often, only in class.
i think my vision is improving without them, but i can be wrong.
my opinion is that my eyes are starting to get used to a computer screen i guess :)
 
I wear glasses everyday, no problem, don't care at all... I'd only wear contact lenses if my eyes were really bad ( then glassen become thick and you see the whole world too small etc ) ... surgery ? No way ! I'd never do that ! There are no longterm studies... I study medicine, my father is a doctor... way too risky.... especially because only people with rather good eyes can use that method.... huge risk for nothing....

Get Night and Days NOW. They are the next best thing to LASIK. I've had them for 2 years now. I put in a new pair every month and forget about them unless I get something in them. They are more expensive, but it's worth it.

My wife had Lasik done 4 years ago, and absolutely loves it. She hasn't had any problem yet. I went in to see if I was able to have it done and they said there was a slight cataract, so they want me to wait a year and see if it changes.

Sleeping in regular contacts blows.
 
I wear glasses right now and probably will for the rest of my life. I can't get contacts because i have horrible allergies and Lasik surgery is $1000 per eye.

How do they feel when you wake up?

When the contacts are fresh (the first month) they feel fine in the morning. If you let them slide, your vision is blurred, but at least you can open your eyes, unlike "regular" contacts. That's when I use Blink and Clean. It is a cleaner and rewetting drops in one. Fixes them instantly.

OT: Based on your sig, you graduated HS this year. I have my 10 year reunion this year. So if "ish" is +/- 10 years, then yes, I am your age+ish. ;)

My brother and step-father did thst surgery, since they both had eye problems and they didnt go blind. My sister is still waiting for the surgery.
 
I wear glasses normally but wear contacts for sport and when I go out with mates. My sister also wears them for similair reasons.

I'm so happy now I have them, it helps seeing fists coming at you :), and being able to tell how hot a chick is. :p

Hopefully laser surgery will be better in 5 years time when I'm old enough to have it, and hopefully on the NHS's or RAF's money aswell :D

yeah, I'd like to get laser surgery once the surgery has been around for longer. You never want to do something that has only been available for a decade or so....
 
Exactly.

I already know 2 people who have had it, and like everyone else's that went right they swear by it, it's just not something I'm in a rush to get so I might aswell wait abit first.
 
Im calling the optometrist today to get prices. Im probably gonna shoot for night and days. 👍
