Thanks! I promise to do my best to stay out of everyone's way. Camaro is one of my best cars, but I like to see variety on the track.

6:30pm Eastern is race start or is that when qualifiying starts? I'm on West Coast time, so I'll have to bail out of work early to make it.

Would you be opposed to me setting up a Mustang with similar regs and see how it does?

Room opens at 6ish, and qualifying starts then and goes up until the race starts. People give updates on positions during the session. The race starts closer to 6:45 now, the west coast people have school/work now, so it makes them have a bit more time before :)
 
Anyone that ran the v12 what is the top trap speed at indy road course?
Also the mustang is the only one you don't have that's in sports car challenge. I would say 440 HP and 1450kg but I just joined yesterday. And v 8 with 300hp you have enough room to add supercharger. But with a supercharger v-8 that would have so much torque. Probably not fair. I'll try it for the heck of it now.

Nevermind. Actually about 4 seconds slower. So its ok. Not good but not terrible.

I already know the Mustang is a bit of a pig at handling. The weight distribution on it is atrocious at around 70-30 stock. I was going to start it around 450hp - 1450kg and see what happens. I'll probably get frustrated with it and abandon it. It's been a while since I've even attempted to race it, so I forget how badly it sucks. But I know it does.
 
But one really good thing mostly bad though is with the bad weight distribution it doesn't fish tail as much but it also doesn't want to turn.
 
It would also result in very poor tire wear, making the understeer worse and worse. I think it can be competitive if given a little bit of power & weight advantage, and in the right hands. I'm willing to be the guinea pig and try to drive the pig.

I just don't understand how PD screwed that car up so bad. The '71 Mach 1 handles waaaay better. And so does the Dodge Ram Quad Cab.
 
Yah I know. What would help. Say weight limit is 1450 kg put all weight reductions on it add ballast and position as far back as you can.
 
We tested the Mustang, and we just couldn't make it equal in all areas of the other cars. We could make it match pace, but it sacrificed tire wear which made it a no-go.
 
Other than that I think you have all GS cars. What about the focus and BMW for the ST class? Isn't there a lower BMW and Ford focus?

Those will probably be included next year. We really didn't get a lot of interest in the ST class, so we didn't test and spec all the options for cars.

I'm not surprised by that at all. I will not bother with it then, and save a couple hours of wasted time and frustration if you already have.
 
I see. I just had this thought come to me doesn't mean we have to do it. It's not really Grand AM spec but what if for qualifing if we ran a 4 lap race to base starting order. Order of that race is selected by random draw. But spots 1st and 2nd is determined by fastest lap times during that race. Like person with fastest lap is on pole but person that wins starts in 3rd. Like the gatorade duel in NASCAR in a way. I am not saying do this but I think it sounds fun maybe give it a go if people agree. Like a short Sprint. I did one before and it was pretty intense. I know its not Grand Am style but hey YOLO.

To help even things up, the Mustang was allowed to run softer front tires (Note that this was when softer tires = less tire wear) and a custom gearbox, although the gears were still set in the regulations. It wouldn't work now, the way you guys have it set up, but it did at the time.

And do not say YOLO.
 
Looks like you guys have thoroughly done your homework on the Mustang. And it no good no matter what you try to do with it. Fine with me, I'm over it. End of discussion.

Seems like we always use 25+1 or 30+1 :D

I think the timed lap average would be around 1:35-1:40 with these cars. So take that into account and maybe a pit stop or two to come to how much time that would take up. 30 laps would be 47 minutes at an average of 1:35 per lap.

Everyweek seems to keep going a bit better, so hopefully we will be loading the race at 6:45!
