Controller steering sensitivity

Definitely makes the X2010 much more responsive to drive, but at the same time trickier because little nudges of the stick send you off on straights.

I definitely felt an improvement doing the esses at Suzuka, but then like I said I kept swerving off at other places because of the increases sensitivy. Would take time to get used to it, but now I've got all bronzes I have no desire to ever drive that 'car' ever again.

Thing is, problem associated with increased sensitivity can be solved by user if their thumb becomes more delicate. It was more important that they solved ability to steer faster which would have made X1 challenge a technically impossible to achieve with DS3 (which was almost true until Tidgney proved wrong otherwise).

In short words: improve your control and you can achieve better times with increased sensitivity!

I tested how the car felt on -2/7 and 3 seems to be just fine for me. -2 makes the wheel turn considerably slow, good choice for tracks with very little to no tight corners. The drawback it seems for me is that when a car starts to oversteer, counter-steering seems to happen wayyy to slow. When i set it at 7 the car response towards turning increased greatly, controlling oversteer seems a bit easier, but as it says your car moves a bit more hap-hazardly and less smooth. That's why 3 for me works best, but it really depends on the car and track. Great option Polyphony :D

This setting has been a godsend for the HKS controller. No more more sluggish steering response and exaggerated thumb movements. With it between 5 and 7 the response is instant just like a wheel. It feels like a whole new game.

I love the increased sensitivity for regular cars. The added throttle and brake response is good.

But I would have thought the less sensitivity, the better the X2010. More is better?
Off to test.

The sensitivity adjustment is awesome. Whacked it up to 7 and my lap times have already quickened than my best before and they weren't even clean laps. :D

It certainly feels like I can turn earlier and accelerate earlier = quicker times

Maybe this makes pad better than a wheel in that you can spend less energy to turn at corners?

I keep it on maximum all the time, using the controller:D

It's definitely made the X challenge easier, just a few millisecs to shave off silver.

It doesn't work with the DFGT. You can test it by trying the highest and lowest settings and then watching what happens to the on-screen wheel in the interior view. It has no effect.

Hopefully they will sort out some adjustment for this in a future patch. The amount of steering lock you need to put into the likes of the X2010 and the Formula cars are not ideal at the moment.

I think Controller Sensitivity is Strictly for DS3, what sense would it make using a wheel? Wheel users already have a rotation adjustment and wheel's are much more easier to control how fast/slow you turn a corner whereas on the DS3 it is differcult to drive "smoothly" thats where controller sensitivity comes in. I could be wrong on the wheel but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, you're right about it being strictly for controllers and it's a good improvement. But as far as I'm aware, there is no way adjust the rotation settings for the DFGT on GT5. Was hoping this might do it.

As you say though, there is more control with a wheel so it's not a major problem.

Ahh I need to try this. Mostly use a wheel but for grinding Indy or something it's nice to play with controller. At Indy though I noticed with a pad I simply cannot turn as quickly AND not as much with the pad making me slower by about a second.

It seems with a pad the game restricts your maximum lock making it impossible to turn the full amount and you find it hard to get your tires squealing. I hope putting this up a bit makes that possible!

the problem i seem to have with increasing the sensitivity is that the car doesn't seem to be able to oversteer anymore?! I bought the M3 en R34 because they're awesome cars to drift but no matter how early and how hard i was flooring it through the corner the backend would do nothing when i was fully turning the wheel at the same time. I turned it back to sensitivity 0 en they were powersliding just fine.

That's interesting. 👍

Wow. I never thought of trying this on the X1 Challenge while racing on Suzuka. It's the one I can't beat.👍
