controls too sensitive

Hi fellas , yep I followed the settings laid out by Jetboys https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2130082&postcount=1 for the Chaparral 2J , I have to say the only time I got it hammering down the road nicely was in BSpec mode FFS !
I tried it in ASpec mode and could not keep the thing from going balistic and flying off the track. LOL

But seriously it's starting to annoy the crap out of me , I have a few high powered cars all set up according to some the guides posted here but either my standard PS2 controls are way too sensitive or I'm missing something here ?!

I don't know perhaps I need to get new PS2 controls , the one I have is a couple of years old.

Any advice would be very much appreciated... thanks petrol heads !

My advice? Can the Dual Shock and buy a Driving Force Pro wheel. You'll never look back.

No - I'm kidding...Seriously! Okay, I'll assume that your using the controller then? You must realize that a PS2 controller is pressure sensitive. The gas and brake apply to that. However, the Logitech Driving Force Pro is a whole lot better. If you drive with it, you'll get used to it real quick. But, naturally - it's hard to control the race cars[I've been able to do it, though]. I think you just need to ease up a bit. I've never "fine tuned" a race car. I never had to. If it really is hard for you - then all you need is practice.

But really, are you using the DS2? Or maybe the Logitech Cordless Action Controller. I use that sometimes and it has sensitivity like you wouldn't believe, excet in the buttons . Try to get more practice in, and don't tune race cars too much. And can the 2j, not a good race car by today's standards, IMO.

I use a DS2, and on GT4 it does take some getting used to. You HAVE to use minimum input, especially on steering, brakes and, erm, throttle. What does that leave? erm....

Take another look at the licences. When you can't gold one, check the demo replay, and set it up (in options) so you can see what inputs the (very real) driver is putting in. Notice the gradual and smooth inputs for the throttle. Notice he doesn't just slam the brakes on. Notice how he guides the cars round the bends, rather than throwing them in, and how he rarely (if ever) uses full lock. Notice he's pretty darn quick...

He used a wheel and pedal setup, I'm pretty sure, but the closer you can get to those smooth small inputs (especially the steering), the better. There are plenty of people round here who both drift and race using a DS2, so it is possible! Good luck!

It's all about practising. I used a DS2 that was four years old and in the beginning I had trouble driving even the slowest and easiest cars. It was just terrible, the car swerving everywhere and so on.

In the end I ended up with 80 gold licences and a 100% completion ratio, with the same controller. Keep driving, even crashing, every mistake you make helps you learn and maybe not to do the same thing the next time. One day you'll make a clean lap, and I can assure you that the feeling will be awesome. 👍

Sure you can buy a wheel though, but in my opinion it can make things even harder. Yes, I have a DFP myself and I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it but for me the controller was much easier to get used to - but in the end the wheel will almost certainly win.

About 100 US dollars. I made a stand for mine for about $30. Well worth every penny.

You can switch the gearshift to the other side, as far as I know. I believe it's made to be interchangeable.

Erm... are we talking about the DFP here? If so, I must have missed something - switching the side of the shifter on my wheel would require some sawing and glueing.

In my opinion, the Dual Shock is enough... just practice practice practice... after a month or so of practice on the double-sticks, you'll be able to drive even the Speed 12 without driving aids.

I paid $105 USD shipped for a new one and I've never had a problem with it that unplugging it and replugging it didn't fix - and even that I've only had to do a handful of times in the year I've had it.

If only I could envy you... I just can't... lol

I had one for 1 week. I plugged and tried it and the pedals were already broken. Then later in the week I done the Laguna Seca 200 miles, it stopped working. I have been a drummer in the past and I know how to gently press the pedals with my feets, so that proves that it's cheaply made.

I'm pissed of the DFP for life.
