first, anyone living in the U.S. turn to the Discovery Travel Channel; really sweet rides.

second, what do you think of convertibles. do you like or dislike, personally i hate. the only one looks good with no top is a Ferrari_Modena_Roadster, period. the most hideous is the thunder bird:irked:

Hmm, two threads about convertables! Like I said in the other one, they're awesome. Once you've driven a convertable sports car on a sunny day, I just don't see how you could want a roof :)

Great for cool, sunny days, but anyone who's sat in 40 degrees celsius plus Australian heat stuck in traffic in a convertible knows that there are some things air conditioning can not overcome.

That said, some of the new steel-roofed convertiles do seem to give the best of both worlds.

Well, except for weight :)

Oregon is nice, we get a lot of rain, but no real extreme weather, either hot or cold. As long as the top doesn't leak you are set.

Yeah, ragtops rule, but they are not high summer or dead of winter cars. But for those other 6 months, they're great! Driving an open car is like nothing else in the world.

Mercedes SL65 AMG!
Great looking, all the german engineering, the steel roof oh yeah and a twin turbo AMG tuned V12 releasing only 456kW.

In Arkansas we get about 8 months of convertible season. And like Vat Man said, the new convertibles have metal top options for the 'off season'.

I had a convertible VW when I lived in San Francisco. And if I ever lived there again I might want another. Phoenix is too hot for one. Chicago is too cold for one. Most of the time I'd rather have a roof on my car. They're fun... for a while. Remember: I H A T E W I N D!

I've owned convertibles, and cars with t-tops. Never again. If it isn't a hardtop, I don't want it.

I don't like convertibles in general, but the Ford Mustang is such a good vehicle it almost makes me want to get a convertible. But it's not quite that good. My problem with convertibles tends to be a lack of decent choices - there's only 22 midsize convertibles on the market compared with 66 midsize sedans and there's just six convertibles not also offered as a coupe (Honda S2000, Mazda Miata, Toyota MR2, Ford Thunderbird, Volvo C70, and Audi A4) compared to fifteen coupes not offered as a convertible. To me, manufacturers don't seem to really care that much about convertibles and as a result, I don't care that much.

The miata is, I think, offered as a coupe in Japan and apparently it'll be offered here soon as well.

I wouldn't *mind* a convertible but the problem is that I live in Canada. Our winters are intolerably cold and our summers are very hot. Not as hot as houston was but still damn hot. We only get about 4 months up here where driving with the top down would be enjoyable.

If I was tog et a convertible though...I'd probably take a Shelby Cobra replica/kit car or a Saab. I saw a saab on the road a few days back. It looked REALLY nice from where I was sitting 👍

I'd really like a VINTAGE conevertible car. nothing like sitting in a 32 Ford roadster, or a 57 Ford Fairlane with loads of chrome. or a 58 vette! those kind of ragtops are the only ones I'd really like to drive.
