Ok, I was just over a friend's house, and for some reason, I had to keep signing in in order to get anywhere. And I couldn't even post. So, what I'm suggesting is a Cookie-Download screen. You'd have to give your name and password, but you'd be able to get the cookie.

Jpec, welcome to GTPlanet! :) The way cookies are handled is controlled in two main places on this site, and you hold the keys to both of those. The first is an option in My GTPlanet, and the second is the privacy setting in Internet Explorer (I'm not sure about other browsers). In Internet Explorer, click Tools, go to Internet Options, and click on the "Privacy" tab. Move the scroll bar to "Accept All Cookies", or the next lowest setting that works and you are comfortable with.

Thanks, I don't think it worked, though.
It didn't? Hmmm, well, I'm afraid I'm all out of ideas...

I meant ideas about what could be going wrong. You see, we already have the feature of setting a cookie on your computer whenever you log in, so it's not an issue with the site - it's on your end.

I have the cookie on my desktop (which I'm using now). Is there a way to get it to my laptop (maybe through a network).

Hmmm...what browser and operating system was your friend using?

MS Internet Explorer (though I forgot to change the web settngs on there).
Oh, well, be sure and try that out... :)

I'm not sure I understand the furore over cookies. I've never seen them do anything bad, I think it's just the privacy nuts who get upset. I like not having to log in to the site each time (and wish I could code it for my own forums).

Oh, and J, I can vouch that the cookies work on Pocket Internet Explorer!

Why can't you include them on yours? Just have a cookie that stays that has their info in it. I use something similar for my logins on customer pages, and selecting log out deletes the cookie, or resets the SV.
