Cool feature I noticed

I got the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter over the holiday and set it up. After playing a bunch I noticed that if you switch between cars with H-gate transmissions and cars with paddle shifters, the game automatically switches to the appropriate shifter on my wheel and disables the other.

Some people might not be crazy about it, preferring to shift however they choose, but I really like the authenticity.

Does anyone know if any other console sims do this as well, or is this something that's only in AC?

Not sure on others, but found this too after hooking up an h shifter. Cool feature, that adds to the realism. That and how good it handles. Now I want to beat ghosts with the shifter. One down many to go.

Also got me an H-Shifter for me birthday and what a game changer, another cool thing is when you don't engage the gear properly you get that sound from the Gearbox, i love that although i end up with a broken Gearbox.
Still a lot more fun and a lot more precise especially in the braking department.

I'll just add to this that, with the H-shifter installed, cars with a shift knob (but sequential transmission) will also make use of the paddles. Which, I think, makes sense.

I'm just not sure what happens when you switch plates to sequential mode (we're talking TH8A shifter here). Still haven't tried that.

You will have to reassign the up and down shifts from the paddles to the shifter.

Yeah I got a TH8a for Christmas too and I've noticed this as well.
I was wondering has anyone tried the Ferrari 458 GT2 with a shifter? In Assetto Corsa the drivers hand clearly leaves the wheel to shift, all the footage of real life 485 GT2's I can find have paddle shift. Which does it use?
I think the shifter is an offline thing for now, it's very easy to total your engine with a careless down shift.

There's a switch under the shifter plate that switches it into sequential mode. Hopefully it would not detect the H pattern and just ignore the setting and revert to auto clutch.... might have to go and change the settings tho

I understand the modifications needed for the shifter. My question is whether AC will recognize this and correctly make use of it for cars with sequential transmission, since I didn't get a chance to try it myself.

I know it's not the same but the G25 had a switch that converted the H shift to sequential. GT5&6 both recognised this switch, I don't see why it can't be the same with the TH8.
