I started with a driver with a cool personality and have been mostly satisfied. I hit Lv. 5 and hired another driver so I decided to hire one that was opposite. I can't really tell a difference and that's my question. What is the difference between the two?

I started with a Hot one but in the first race he got stressed in the last lap and just stoped the car. He was in second place.

Im a little confused about B-Spec mode, not always my radio command works...

From what I understand, cool drivers are more apt to follow instructions, and less prone to making errors at the limit.

Cool drivers are also slower.

I've got a hot driver, turns out really well, didn't have any problems to win a race (level 9 atm)

I chose a hot driver. I wanted to watch an exciting race. :D

He's been fun so far, only level 4 at the moment.... If I give him the right car, and don't tell him to do things too often, he seems to do alright. :)

mines stone cold, its a 'her' as well! She never makes mistakes but she sometimes drive TOO calm which frustrates me watching :D

I haven't noticed much if any difference between hot and cold drivers at high levels, but when they are around level 0 it seems to really effect them.

Maybe in a smaller way their hot/cold personality effects how much they pace up or down when you tell them to. I would guess that a hot driver would speed up more readily than a cold one. I Imagine it also effects how fast the strength and mental bars drain which might be very important in long races.

Maybe we'll find out how good or bad they are when we do endurance races.

Yea I'm seeing this too.

Cool = less mistakes, but not as strong or agro of a driver. Mental Strength is very good, but physical strength wears off after a few laps.

Hot = more mistakes (early on), but also a stronger driver physically who might be able to duke it out and get ahead of some Ai.

Also when their form first goes down are they nearing retirement or do they just need a few good results to get them back to good form?

Update:
My original driver is up to 27 now and I think I have noticed at least one big difference between the two personalities. I have noticed that my cool driver can do more laps in an endurance race as his strength depletes slower than that of one of my hot drivers. Also, my cool driver will sometimes slow down (get too cool) but as soon as someone is on his tail he heats up and his pace increases. Anybody else notice any concrete details? I also don't give them many commands other than overtake when they're coming up on another racer.

I'm pretty sure the cool/hot setting on the driver stats doesn't dictate how slow/fast they are. It just dictates how quickly the driver will go into the red/blue area of the race bar, and that is the one that controls speed/sloppiness.

All drivers do this.

I have three drivers.
Cool - makes less mistakes when he is cold; when I push him he goes to red in a hurry. When I tell him to slow down he cools off quicker, needs to be reminded to keep pace otherwise he gets goes into chillax mode.
Hot - He makes more mistakes and pushes car too much, specially at the start of the race, need to tell him to pace down more often. Does not become aggravated when I tell him to pace up as cool-driver does. But his strength and mental strength drain much more faster. in 10 lap races he is down to zero on both categories.
3rd driver is more in the middle but he is pushing a little more to the hot side, he does not seem to push the car much and makes less mistakes...but does not pass when told to overtake. I have to tell him 2-3 times to overtake for him to do it.

I've got one cool and one hot. I've notice that when I tell my hot driver to pace up he gets to the far right almost twice, if not three times as fast as my cool driver. Also, the farther in the red during the race the more aggressive Bob will be. The cooler is like a "coast" and just going through the motions, they're not trying to set and lap records. So far, my hot driver is a lower level, but I am more happy with the way he is leveling and driving. It also seems like when my hot driver levels up, he is leveling faster (his green bars are getting bigger faster). So, that's my experience so far, hope it helps you guys out. B-spec is really fun for me and I find myself playing it a lot, so any thoughts, hints, or tips are more than welcome. I've got a lot of b-spec experience so anyone with questions hit me up.

They have got a very thorough writeup on this somewhere, maybe on this site maybe not, just run a search for "B-Spec FAQ" and it tells you everything some GTmaniac has figured out on their way to level sideways 8.

Anyways, I have picked all hot drivers and one middle. The cold drivers SUCK. They can not pass, even at higher levels my lower level hot drivers will get to first position sooner than the higher level cold driver.

Hot drivers are more aggressive and if anyone knows anything about racing, its all about controlled aggression (I'm thinking A Senna, although his aggression was not always controlled). Hot drivers also have much better control at the limit. A cold or neutral will spin a high powered FR or MR if they are "stressed", but a hot driver will pull a nice slide.

One more thing, it is much easier to cool down a hot driver but impossible to heat up a cold driver. I mean cold drivers just don't have passing coded in their artificial stupidity program.

Hot drivers may also turn out to be stubborn drivers who won't listen to what you have to tell them.

I remember that from the Kaz press conference thingy they had after E3 :)

I would have thought the cool / hot driver is based on the real life styles of racing drivers.

A cool driver looks after the car and doesn't get the tail out on the corners, whilst a hot driver goes for it big time - lots of mechanical wear on the car and slides etc

Alain Prost was noted for being a 'cool' driver for example. Ayrton Senna a good example of a 'hot' driver.

'Hot' drivers are more exciting to watch.. so perhaps best for b spec!
