okay with gt5 just around the corner, i plan on doing the nurburgring 24hr endurance race.. but with all the YLOD overheating issues and whatnot, i think i need to buy a ps3 fan.. who has one and which one do you think is best? thanks in advance!

Where do you have your PS3?

As long as the place you have it is well ventilated the PS3 does a perfectly fine job keeping itself cool.

The YlOD only affect the "fat" PS3's and personally I think the fan's won't help.

EDIT: I'm with Justin on that advice. Make sure there is about 4 inches of open space around the PS3. If you got your console inside a cabinet then keep the doors open while you use it.

well i have the ps3 slim on vertical position (my friend said it cools better like that) next to my tv.. not in a cabinet or anything.. if anything i still have like 3mos left on my warranty

I have the 60GB launch 'fatty'. It sits on it's own unit next to the TV and has a good 10 inches on either side and 15 inches from the back to the wall. The built in fan does increase in volume when my gaming sessions last a while, but I have frequently been at it all day, usually a Sunday, when playing games like Oblivion. I'm talking from 10am-5pm straight.
I don't believe in cooling fans, because I read somewhere they can actually blow warm air back into your PS3. Not what you want.
As for the endurance races in GT5, I won't be bothering with them unless you can save your race every now and again.
24hrs on a console? Madness!

I also have a launch PS3 and have done all but 1 24 hr endurance races didn't do both Sarthe's. That's what the pause button was for the only downfall is if you have a power outage.

me and my friends have done the 24hr enduros with the ps2 in GT4 with no problems whatsoever.. so i guess nobody uses a cooling fan for the ps3? hopefully mine wont YLOD during nurburgring!
