Looking for interest for a International Le Mans Series endurance championship that's as realistic as possible in GT5. LMP's will be based on LMP2 specs, roughly 500 hp and 900 kg. GT cars will be GT2 specs.

Cars: *I will be adding more later. I'm doing this off memory at the moment.

LMP (8 cars)- any LMP in GT5 de-tuned to regulation specs

Pugeot 908
Audi R8/R10
Mazda 787B
Pescarolo (All)
Bentley Speed 8
Toyota GT-ONE
BMW V12 LMR

GT (8 cars)-

BMW M3
Corvette ZO6
Ferrari 458 Italia
Ford GT
RUF RGT
Jaguar XKR
Aston Martin DB9
Dodge Viper SRT10

Car selection will be based off of a draft. Names will be drawn at random at which point a team/driver will select which vehicle they wish to compete with.

Aids: All aids will be off with the exception of Traction Control.

Races: Looking at a 6 race championship with 45 minute races with the exception of two. Spa (1hr 30mins) and La Sarthe (2hrs)

Teams: Two drivers per team/car are allowed. I.E. two BMW M3's or two 787B's. GT teammates will differentiate by wheel color. LMP's I haven't figured out yet... :nervous:

Right now I'm contemplating Friday night or Saturday morning/afternoon races. I will add more later when I have the game on and can do some testing. If anyone wants to help test shoot me a PM 👍

Well I only have a few things that I would like to question you about what time would the races be EST if they were on Saturday because i really race on Friday night and you do know not everyone has SPA right

Yeah considering switching Spa to Daytona and making Spa a special event. I'm testing now.

Edit: Got the R10, 908, and 787B tested. Good results thus far. Does anyone have a Bentley and a GT-ONE I can test?

I might test with you tomorrow if we are both on at the same time

just shoot me a PM when you do. I'll get an email notification on my phone. Here's the cars I have tested and balanced thus far.

LMP -

Audi R10
Pugeot 908
Mazda 787B

GT -

Corvette Z06
Jaguar KXR
Ferrari 458 Italia
BMW M3

I left my series to help you and so I can join you my friend talked me out of quiting my series

That's very flattering, but this is barely off the ground. There have to be enough people interested for it to work.

Thats fine I know friends that might join us

There's another series just like this. At least you're allowing traction control like the real life cars. But why not ABS?

Because the real life cars don't have ABS :sly:

I also wanted to note, that the LMP and GT cars will be performance balanced and not made to replicate their real life counterparts. Not sure how the other series does it you mentioned.

Edit: OP car list updated

You're shooting yourself in the foot there by not allowing ABS. The cars will just lock up and sling off track. Maybe wheel drivers can use no ABS, but DS3 users will have a real hard time with that. Just constructive criticism.

With the correct brake bias and regulated braking it's not hard to control lock up.

Do you use a controller or a wheel? I've yet to see a controller user run consistently without ABS. Not that it matters, I'm not joining your series anyway, I'm just trying to help.

I use a wheel. But it's set to be a realistic series

i totally agree with fresh, u should at least allow ABS at 1 miniumum, GT5's ABS is whack and with it off all of the best drivers have even locked em up(controller users mainly). I believe all the main series throughout GTP allow it on 1 at least cuz its just not right in the game, pretty sure you can browse around for more info on that. LMPs are great cars and very hard to handle for the avg driver as is with the new tire update. We run our own LMP series in my league on friday nights and only allow TCS and ABS and get some very great races with the car tuned down to the proper HP that they run in real life today. hope this input helps you out.

Ok so I've decided to change to allow ABS for controller users. I had not thought of that at first. Also Dragon, are you in Cedar Rapids, Iowa? I'm in Iowa City lol.

It's a good idea, but you shpuld just join the ALMS with us.

I would, but I ... HATE... racing soft tires. They're so freaking arcade I avoid rooms that allow them like the plague. It completely ruins the game for me. That's why I'm looking to start my own, plus all the cars will be performance balanced for close competition. The only tire allowed in this series will be Racing Hards. Drivers will have to use tire management to avoid the drop off in grip from constantly abusing the tires over long stints.

Racing hards are pathetic. They drive like high grip street tires. But it's your series.

You've obviously never driven on slicks then... you would know that racing softs are an arcade tire put in GT5 to provide ultra high grip driving for controller users. Mediums are about the equivalent of a soft slick. The difference in lap times between the hard and medium racing tires in GT5 is like going from softs to hards.

My biggest gripe is the new wear rates they implemented. All compounds wear way too fast, even if you're trying to take care of the tires.

If you've driven any true sim (GTR2, iRacing, etc) you would know how flawed all the tires are in GT5.

You have no clue what I've driven or rode on. The grip of the hard tires are a joke in this game. At least when running LMP's; you should realize that the level of grip they provide on those cars is low compared to real life. You can take a look at the lap times and cornering speeds on LeSarthe for a good example. LMP's with 550hp and hard tires will never reach the lap times they achieve in real life. Nor the level of life they have either. When you can do 3:29's on hard tires with 600hp for 3 stints of 12 laps, then you may have a point. Maybe with other types of cars in this game the hard tires may give the types of times or grip, but not on LMP's.

Stick with the racing hards, they are perfect with the LMP's. I am interested but a lot of things would need to come together for me to be able to do this. I've also always wanted to learn to drive without ABS and this could be the perfect opportunity.

Well I have driven race cars on slick tires, I worked for Skip Barber Racing Schools and sub contracted for Intersport Racing LMPC at Lime Rock last season and talked with the drivers and I can tell you the racing softs are by far and away arcade. The grip level is ludicrous and like I said, all tires in GT5 are seriously flawed, and anyone who has driven a proper sim and driven slicks in real life will tell you so.

mcfizzle - Don't worry, the hards will be the tire of choice for this series if I can get it off the ground. I still need to borrow a few LMP's so I can performance balance them. Hope you'll be able to join us 👍

Nice, your probably the closest serious GT5 driver i've come across, i've been down there quite a few times. I go discin and fishin down by sugarbottom alot too.

The tire grip does suck with LMPs now. Our league, we allow qualifying throughout the week and this is done on softs, when we race we only allow up to mediums or rain tires for the weather change tracks. we just review the weather change races to make sure nobody threw softs on. Hope this helps you out some.

Guys when you practise today i want to join i like LMP cars.
I take the Mazda 787B.

Probably won't be testing until tomorrow. Still need to find someone with a Bentley and a Toyota GT-ONE to test. I'm running the IZOD IndyCar series I helped create tonight for the season opener.

LMPC cars aren't nearly the same as LMP1's. Softs are arcade maybe in feel to some drivers. To me the only thing 'arcade' about them is their super short life span and how some of the cars react to them. Mediums are good tires but there's more to the game than just saying the tires are off. The traction control and all that combined makes the cars feel a lot different to real life I'd imagine. From karting to some adequately powered road cars with high grip street tires, there's a big difference in feel and response. With some cars on this game sport softs feel closer to racing tires than racing tires in the game. Then sometimes it's all wrong and the racing tires feel like worn tires. The consistency is off surely. Something I hope is fixed in GT6.

I'm trying to get into Skip Barber. :sly:

That's all fine, but I ran a 2.4 Hour Enduro in the 908 on RH's at Spa and it was very enjoyable. No complaints about the tires. This weekend I'm in a 2.4 Hour Enduro at Laguna Seca in the 787B with RH's and again, everything feels good. There is no problem with these cars and RH's.

Is that enduro full? That would be sweet to race in. Still need to find some LMP's for testing. Anyone that can let me borrow a GT-ONE and a Bentley Speed 8? I've just got to balance those two and finish GT cars, only about 3 more, and I can get some sign ups going 👍
