Corvette C7 Test Prototype Tuning

I had planned to tune this car tonight, but there are very limited options for tuning this car. On one hand I think it is cool that PD wants us to drive this prototype the way they interpret it from Chevy. On the other hand, I really wanted to see what this car could do against a C6 or ZR1.

Corvette C7 Test Prototype
464hp, 1500kg, 529pp at zero miles

Tuning options:
Oil Change
Ballast
Power Limiter
Brake Balance Controller
Tire Choice
Chassis Stiffening

You cannot change the transmission, no drive change or suspension changes and you cannot add any power parts.

Now... off to drive it.

Left the sports hard tires on it. Added 15kg of ballast at -50 to make it 50/50 weight distribution. Set brake balance at 5/7. Drives pretty well, but nowhere near what I can do with a tuned C6 at the same PP level.

Hami, could you post the stock settings for the C7? Maybe us Europeans can just tune a C6 with C7 settings until the real thing comes.

There are no settings. Other than Power Level - Weight - Brake Balance. Best I can give you is PP which is 529 at (466HP/1500KG)

So you're not allowed to view the stock settings? Makes sense, Chevrolet probably doesn't want to give out too much information about the car to the likes of Dodge and Ford.

Yup exactly. Clicking on Settings Sheet brings you to a very small details section.

Like always , PD forgot us in Brasil.

What's next ????

What's wrong with this people.

I'm on strike till they put the cars on PSN for us here too.

It drives pretty well for just cruising. If you enter the corner at a decent speed, it has a pretty good front/rear balance and you can use the throttle to get it to oversteer or understeer a little. But, if you drive like a mad man at corner entry, like I do, the car isn't aggressive enough. I am just craving making an LSD change or two.

@Praiano - you are not missing much. I have already lost interest.

You're in luck, you can speak and write in English.
Make a US account and download that 🤬 !

The C7 is free so perhaps you'll be able to download it.

It will download, but without the appropriate disc it won't work. I've tried with a couple of country exclusive bits of DLC and there was no option to install them in GT5's main menu.

I wish this technique actually worked, that way they would stop giving us overpriced DLC down under.

After a bit more testing I've come up with some weak points on the car. Driving on the Nordschleife revealed some major flaws..Drove with both SH and RS online.

- High Speed Grip = Car seems to have a lack of grip at high speed, It almost seems like the front end is experiencing aerodynamic lift. Ruins an otherwise very competent cornering car.

- Brakes = 1) Brake distance is comparably long to other cars I've driven (Even an SLS on CS tires). 2) Braking from high speed makes the car very twitchy and unstable (Even at 6/2 with ABS=1)(Maybe a weird Toe setting?). 3) Braking for a second at high speed (120 MPH+) for example before a corner and then trying to turn is a no-no. It seems like the weight transfer going front to back makes the front end go light.

- Suspension = A bit too soft and the car seems a bit high ride height wise. On the bright side the C7 absorbs bumps very well.

I think the Physics on this car might be different. No other car has behaved quite like this C7 💡. I can film some of the stuff I've mentioned above if needed.

I would absolutely love to assume that , since this car is covered in large loose pantyhose, that the car distorts the airflow surrounding its nose especially, further negating downforce at the back. PD is competent at simulating the sounds to be different based on camera mounts and viewpoints, I would only be surprised if such a skirt wouldn't wreak havoc on a car's stability at 300 391!lol km/hr. just a thought. Then there is the other possibility that something didn't pass QA and they released this with god awful toe settings like they did with the GT Academy car.

Braking distance is not that bad, with trail braking it's pretty good, we did a race, me and Lewis_Hamilton at Daytona Road Course and Indy Road, on comfort medium, no ABS, I had 10/8 BB, the braking point on 1st corner on both tracks is pretty similar to other 500+pp cars, a bit twitchy yes, and tendency to understeer when the brakes applied too much too fast, but with modulation the car is pretty stable, this C7 is nice, a handful when exiting corners on the CM tire, but overall great car to drive around and fun for races.

Praiano, american PSN account: best thing I've did. Get my DLCs right in time. I usually buy PSN cards on MercadoLivre... found it the best way to buy my stuff on PSN... quick and easy. I usually buy from these guys, they are honest and deliver the PSN codes quickly! https://www.facebook.com/cardsbr.eletronics?fref=ts )

Plus, some stuff in the brazillian PSN seems overpriced.

Sorry for the OT guys.

I would say considering manufactures do it regularly and race cars around with these skirts on, they don't cause too much instability. ;)

Personally I think PD is using physics changes and difference in DLC cars to judge people's reactions on the physics themselves and/or try stuff out.
That or they've totally lost it.

I keep looking at the space between the chassis and tires and think "what I would do to lower the ride height!". It looks so high for a Corvette! But it still has exceptional grip for riding on Sports Hards.

It is very stable as well. Doesn't spin out like crazy or anything. Only real weak point is the braking. It isn't quite as good as you would probably expect.

Also, am I the only one who finds it weird at the relatively low HP? I would think that a prototype would have a lot more HP, even more so than the official release. Having more HP could let them exaggerate whatever thing they are testing for so that it is more evident.

When comparing braking are you guys comparing it to other "spec" 1500 kg cars on SH tires?

Braking distance is rather subjective but yes, I compare the C7 to other cars I've driven. I gave an example of the SLS AMG since I drive it rather often on CS tires. I'll post all the places where the car goes wrong and you guys can experience it for yourselves. I thought the car was perfectly fine until I took it to the Nordschleife and tried racing competitively.

I tried to follow Ferrari SP1 ( detuned I presume, the room limit was 521pp ) driven by another member here Lewis_Hamilton at Daytona Road Course, both uses comfort medium and no ABS, braking points are pretty similar throughout the track. We also did a race at 24H Nurb earlier, same tire, and a bit of water on the track, it was a handful on corner exits, but braking distance seems fine to me, similar to other 500pp cars at same CM tire, only bad thing is the twitchy rear and understeer that often occurs when the brake pushed too hard, need little extra attention than cars like 458 or SLS. Just like the N24 GTR, needs time to get used to, maybe the C7 has some "different" suspension alignment ( toe and camber )

I wished we had more time, I had some shutdown error :(, then I had to leave for more than an hour and could not do more races.

Thanks , it's ok now ,i'm a Miami beach citizen.:) The best thing is that i can use my US account cars on my Brasilian account. Just need to install the cars. I've bought a USD 20,00 psn US card on the net payed by paypal.... Done.
:) Now i'm a happy man. Going to drive this HSV right now.
