it's already proven itself...
it sold..and continues to sell remarkably well..especially for a 150+ thousand dollar car...

BTW the interiors nicer in the GT than the viper....and I personally find the vette extremely uncomfortable...and the C6 is not very Vette like from the inside..I don't know if i've said this before..but from the inside of a c5...it feels like ANYONE would ever imagine a vette feeling...long hood huge fenger bumps in your field of vision..just 100% vette...

I don't get that at all from the C6 or from the c6 z06 i sat in.....

However I got it from the Viper RT/10 and SRT-10 coupe...

not so much from the SRT-10 vert(maybe because the top was down...but yeah....I'm done

Either way with the interiors, Dodge is re-doing it for the next model year, since they also know it's pretty junk.

I heard Ford GTs weren't selling nearly as good as predicted?

Ford GT's are cool but over priced I think. 125k is a little steep for a car like that.

You can easily buy a Ferrari for that price I do believe, but really how big of niche is the 100K plus car market? Well aside for where I live I can't think of many places.

...I know the mission statement of the Viper, and it was baisicly to give the finger to the Vette, Ferrari 348, 911, and NSX...

Close, but at the time, the 348 was near its end and the NSX wasn't debuted until late 1989 and sold in 1990.

The Viper Concept debuted in 1989 though I've heard 1988 as well. Now, yes, you could say the Viper was there to stick it to the Honda, but not really as the Viper's day started before hand. The NSX was debuted in its final form which is how it got the 3 year start on the Viper (1990-1992).

You could also easily buy 3 Ferraris for the Saleen S7 price as well.

In fact, I think the Saleen S7 sells are even higher than the GT.

Stick it to Honda..? What are you smoking? Psfft... who gives a **** about them. The only thing the Viper was for was a back to the basics 90's version of the Cobra and to help save Chryslers ass.

NSX background
1984 - R&D started on a new "sportscar" in (-tid bit of info-R&D had an idea for a new RWD car from the CRX in 1983 but that fell through...)
Reason behind developing? Return to F1 and the need for a true sportscar in the lineup
1986 - First prototype developed designed to follow the lines of a F16
1989 - the dev team asked Ayrton Senna to drive their car.
1989 - chicago auto show..NSX debuted
1989 - Sales began in Verno in September

The argument about the interior quality is stupid. Here's my thoughts on the matter.

The interior quality flat-out sucks.Ok? Now...
There are some who don't really care about this that much. They are the kind of people who, with more money, would buy an F40 over an F50 (this is a generality, if it doesn't apply to you, chill) and that is a-okay.
There are some who, when they buy a car, expect to look at their surroundings and enjoy what they see. They want a car that goes fast but also has what they want in the interior; nice leather, some good features and at least a nice fit and finish with metal components (as opposed to plastic). These people would buy the F50 over the F40.

Ok, I know the F50's interior isn't much more than the F40, but the car is simply more...there. I dunno how to put it. You can insert what ever you want into those slots, say, F430 and Z06 or...whatever. You get the point. What I'm trying to say is that some people want a nice interior in what they buy, some really don't care. Don't go assaulting those who don't really care about interior quality because it doesn't really matter that much to them.

Enjoy the argument, fellas. :p

If you remember that scene in Gone in Sixty Seconds (the new one) where Cage goes in to the Ferrari store and talks about all these typical Ferrari's people buy vs. the Stang that's what I'm getting at more than just interiors. The F40 has way more personality than an F50 would ever.

I personally think the F50 has more....Why you ask? because that is what EVERY ferrari fan thinks....

The F40 is much more of a car than the F50....which means.. NO ONE HAS F50's

You sure about that? because arn't most Ferrari "exotic" owners...Ferrari fans?

I mean hell look at those pics that used to be posted on this site of the ferrari exotic meet...

that were like 6 rows of F40's..... 1/2 a row of F50's...and a row of Enzo's

Any Ferrari fan would like ALL Ferrari's just as I like ALL Vipers but I'm not a fan of Ferrari but I wouldn't go with an F50 just because it's faster. I'd go with a F40 because it's a better car overall. Take for instance the sound of an F40, the F50 has nothing on the F40 in that department.

i'd take the F40 because i'd want to hear a Twin turbo V8 behind me 24/7...but you know what i mean right?

Anywho....

I'm a viper fan...But i'm sorry...Viper #1 was lame....and SRT-10's arn't too hot looking...Especially next to either version of the coupe..

no..there's only 3 gens....

There's multiple models..

but only two gens..

OLD model....and new model

coupe = same as convertible...just slightly more power...and a top

The F50 has the same performance as the F40 but it's more livable. The F40 is kind of aggravating to drive, really, if you're not in 100% performance mood/mode.

Don't get me wrong here, I love a basics interior. I love the Elise and its interior (although it does fall short build-quality wise). But there is a distinct difference with the Elise or the F40 interior with the Viper. The mentioned European cars have such little to them because of weight. The Viper has so little to it because, well, I don't know. To be honest, I'd rather have two seats and the basic controls than a bad attempt, like the Viper currently has. It's not sparse to save weight, let's put it that way. And the Elise proves that basics interiors can most definitiely look very very nice, all it takes is a decent design and engineering team, something that Daimler-Chrysler has access to, in different places. They fail to use that, and the final product is hurt. That's what makes me more mad than anything else about the interior. It's terrible, but it didn't have to be.

Just clarifying my take on this argument, after all, I was the one who brought it up on page uno.

2 year head start... NSX debuted with 1990 models, and Viper with 1992 models... just FYI.

It's funny all the people saying the Vipers interior looks bad.
Isnt beauty all in the eyes of the beholder? I think the new M5's look like crap, and Viper's look great, but it's not something I'm going to use to say the Vipers a better car. Just because you don't think it's pretty, doesnt mean somebody else doesnt, and likewise, not everybody thinks what you like is pretty, and nobody's right, it's up to the viewer.

A lot of Ford GT's are going for over 200K, because dealers are jacking people, and it will probabley kill them over time.

I wouldnt compare an M5's performance to a Viper real closely, especially top speed - limiter or not, it's extra money you'll need to spend, on your expensive brand-new car, just to make it go faster than a 5,000$ Firebird:)

Well, if you don't like it that much do what the enduro people did getting it ready for racing, strip it. :dopey:

So heres a good question then...

Which one SOUNDS better?

Ive never been a fan of the Vipers exhaust, but it has an overall unique sound that does make it appealing. There is a kind of "pop-pop-rumble" sound to it that sounds like a V8 on crack. Startup is a whole 'nother thing, it sounds like our John Deere tractor...

The Corvette sounds great, but even in Z06 trim, it is still too quiet. I want the full NASCAR exprience when I turn that LS7 over, loud enough to wake the neighbors and set off car alarms as I blast down the street. Okay, maybe not that loud... Maybe if we crossed Dale Jr's Monte Carlo SS with the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, then theyd have it...

Except that the M5 has loads of goodies is comfortable, has good build quality and uses quality plastics. I cant believe you even try and compare an M5's interior to the viper.

ALERT

Now that ive got your attention I just want to say this. The interior in my bosses vauxhal vivaro work van is better than that of the viper and vette.
Shows you how abysmal it is.

Ya know what... if you guys are going to whine, ***** and be little p***ies about something so insigificant as an interior you don't deserve to have a Viper much less handle one.

:odd: How is this a good question??

In my unbias view the Viper sounds better, I recently saw the Top gear review of the SRT 10 again, where he burnouts the Vipers name, and I had to turn up the volume, I LOVE that engine note.

And the Viper also has those side exhausts, behind and low behind your ears.

between the two, its a tie. The Viper is too awkward to pull ahead, and the Vette is too tonned-down to top the Viper by any means.

By far the two best sounding cars sold in the world are the Ferrari F430 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage, hands down... The Vette and the Viper dont even come close...
