Bahahaha, I knew you would bring this up - who ever looks at your threads anyway? :sly:

Bah... So far, it's still the best picture of the Toyota 7 ;)

great conflict... but now it is verry clear to me..great thankxz.. :dopey:

en egghead, bedankt jongen, voor dat filmpje.. :dopey:

It's a shame you have to fit a stage 4 to keep up with the other 800+ HP cars, although the HUGE lag from that makes it useless in racing.

Jeeez mate... It's 34 years old. What the hell do you expect ?... And it IS quite snappy when you get to know it a little...

All of the those twin turbo pics are sick!! :dopey:

I know I'm stupid, especially if it comes to cars; What's turbo lag

Thanks for the vid egghead, Im not too impressed with the sound too be honest sounds like GT generic super car too me :grumpy: After hearing the audi r8 in the enthusia video i gotta say gt's engine sound like crap, only after watching that video i realised what a massive diffrence an extremely meaty sounding engine note can make it did sound lovely

Turbo Lag is the time that passes from the turbines in the turbo starts spooling up till they actually start to produce pressure.. The bigger the turbines, the longer time to spool the turbo..

This was very common problem when turbo was young. Power kicking in when you don't want, or don't expect it to.. Today though, with advanced engine management, variable turbo geometry, twin turbo (smaller turbines), serial turbo etc. not really a problem...

Only thing wrong with the car from the videos I've seen is the lack of the screaming turbo from the replay views. That was my favorite part about GT2. the loud realistic turbo sounds(hooray for NFSU2 :))..

HAHA:lol:, powerkicking when you don't want it to, thanks anyway
:) 👍

the term "turbo lag" comes from the fact that when you open the throttle on a car with a BIG turbo there is a time lag before the engine winds up and starts putting the power down.

the reason for this is the following. the turbine ( exhaust driven fan) and the compressor( fan that compresses the intake air) are both freely spinning and are attached by a shaft. well when you go to a BIG turbo the MASS of those fans increases. The problem is you still have the same exhaust pressure pushing that turbine so when you get on the gas that slow spinning turbine CHOKES your engine.. as it slowly starts to SPOOL the compressor starts building BOOST. at this point more and more air is pumped throught the engine and eventually the big turbo spins up REALLY fast think 30,000-50,000rpms!!! this isnt related to the speed of the engine at all... the speed of the turbo is proportional to the amount of air/exhaust that is being pushed/sucked through it.

anyhow its all about rotational momentum big turbos tend to NOT want to spin and when they finally spool up to speed they dont want to slow down thats why they invented BLOW off valves because as you suddelly get off the gas or decrese the RPM's by downshifting the engine can no longer take all the air that is being pushed into it by the compressor and that sends a shockwave back to the compressor which can damage it. ( the shaft connecting the 2 fans turbo/compressor can snap ) so a blow off valve lets out the extra boost untill its needed again.

there is also a thing called a waste gate and that detours the exhaust away from the turbo to control the boost levels so when the boost is high enough the waste gate starts to open/close really fast to releive exhaust pressure.

im sure i LOST many noobies here.. but to all those that followed me.. let me know if i got any of it wrong ( i think its all right as far as i know )

Don't laugh - That's some serious stuff... Imagine going round a long, slighty decreasing radius turn, in wet condition, being very close to the edge of whatever grip you have, in a 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo which would rather be turned the other way around in the first place..

Then..... Instantly, add 150Bhp...

You finish the story ;)

the vid was great, there are some huge problems with sound effects tho. that thing should be whistling like no other. Turbochargers tend to get louder the bigger the exhaust and the shorter it gets. Being that the exhaust ends at the Turbine housing exit they should be extremely loud, almost overpowering the cars motor sound. If youve ever heard a turbo car running just a downpipe or just a O2 housing youll know what i mean. You hear it spool up and when you let off it will sound like the loudest BOV youve ever heard. All of this comes from the Turbine housing and Turbine wheel. I also noticed that the Flames would come out as a spirial instead of a just a flame ball. And from the video it didnt seem to have much lag at all, or not even close to as much lag as it should. Those turbos are big enough to be on a diesel truck, at least from the size of the turbine housings.

Well what I mean is it has one of the best power to weight ratio stock, yet still understeers more than most of the other "hyper" cars, and the only way to keep up with others in competitive races is by fitting that turbo, but the fact that there are 5 gears and it has HUGE turbo lag means that it's useless for racing. AFAIK there are no other races where it could be competitive, so that's why I'm dissapointed with it - not the fact that it understandably isn't as fast as "modern" cars.

It's an icon.. It's a useless as the Daimler "car" thingy... Still it makes great fun at the Nordschleife beating the crap out of it.. (The Toyota, not the Daimler that is....)

I guess, it's just a shame that with a P/W of .52 it understeers like a ***** if you don't do some suspension tuning (around Suzuka at least).

With 620kg and 840Bhp - who can blame it for understeering a little ;)

I took that first pic, btw. Nice to see it popping up places...
