i just got the feint drift done because of thio's drifting video i was wondering if anyone else has some of those like a braking drift one or a power over one. and also if anyone has a video of drifting in apricot valley the on the curve before the finish line the one after the big tire i have seen a lot of drifting vids but no one drifts that one. if anyone is kind enough to post a whole vid on appricot valley that would much be appreciated.

My Laguna Seca instructional vid has all three types. Braking on 1, power over on 2, 3 (with slight feint), 4, 5, feint on 6, transfer to 7 and 8, power over on 9, e-brake on 10 (although I use the brakes to initiate it, but then realized I was going too slow so I had to e-brake). All from the cockpit of an AE86. If you want it, let me know your ICQ or AIM account and I'll send it to you. Nothing on Apricot Hill though as of yet. I will probably do one soon though, another instructional one, because a lot of people seem to like that course. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what car they'd like to see in that?

i used to own an '87 300ZX...but i sold it. i used to drift with it all the time...now i own a prelude..lol, big mistake. its for sale :D

question. is FF (e-braking) considered drifting too you? i feel thats its power sliding cuz there is no force in the rear tires for a drift motion. hard to explain in words but i just don;t feel that FF cars "drift".

well theres a yes and then theres a no...

if you consider drifting in the traditional sense of the word, that is excessive oversteer in a corner, then yes, most cars with four wheels are able to, at the will of the driver, slide and drift. especially in regard to entering a corner, and decelerating to the apex point, a car's dynamics are more dependent on braking balance and chasis setup itself. how easily this can be achieved is much dependent on the driver's skills. at the same time, it is completely a different story upon exit, or accelerating out from the apex. a front-wheel drive car will depend much on the front wheels, naturally, to accelerate and steer at the same time.

a rear drive car can create oversteer with excessive power at the rear, while in front tires are still free to steer the car in the intended path. a front drive car will not have much flexibility as any loss of traction at the front with excessive power will rob its ability to steer effectively. as a result, the driver will have a very difficult time balancing the drift and cannot be very dramatic on exits in over-steering conditions.

so in short, a front drive car will drift, but it will not be with the same excitement and drama of a rear drive car. the only possible awe you get is from a experienced drivers view, knowing that its very difficult even though its not very beautiful...

thanks a lot for the post on the apricot hill and i have a comment on ff drifting. well to me ff drifting is really a true skill based driving because the exit is very close to the other end, the other end meaning to the other side of the road. while fr drifting starts far from a curve and enter into the corner of the curve and exit going away from the curve. ff drifting starts of close to the and exit away inducing major oversteer. i have to say its not really good if you want time. i know this from experience i drive a nissan maxima and i drift in snow because to me its much easier to lose control there specially the back and i don't like e braking when drifting seriously even on gt3. i believe that four wheel drifting in ff is a must if you dont' know how to do it then your not going to be able to drift with it.

lan evo thanks a lot for putting your lap in that gave me an idea on how to approach that turn to the start of the lap but the one i was talking about was the one after the dunlop tire underpass. but thanks a lot for posting the whole lap.

ok i made a major mistake on the ff drift when you enter its almost the same as fr but you have to do feint almost all the time. i emphasize on four wheels here because you can't haul the car to exit right away because of the heavy weight that will be transfered up front plus the engine. this is the advantage of the fr drifts though. but this is just my view on it and just how i did mine. so yeah its just like that.

I always hear the definition of drifting as the controlled loss of traction at the rear wheels, and that drifting is only when you can keep steering the car through other corners with little to no traction. FF cannot do that in the scientific sense. I'm planning to make a sole FF drift video, so stay tuned. I'm releasing the FR/MR/4WD video first, probably.

yup that is true but like i said i do it in the snow or rainy weather because that is the only time you lose traction easily and i was talking about real life. in the game well you can't really do it i tried but its really hard to do four wheel drifts.
