ATI R520 scores 10K+ in 3Dmark05

"Fudo" to beat two 6800 Ultra SLI

By Fuad Abazovic not in Old Taipei: måndag 06 juni 2005, 19:40DESPITE WHAT people were claiming, the G70 will score better than the 7800. The card never got the 7800 suffix based on its 3Dmark05 score and if it was number would end up significantly bigger. It's actually going to be quite better but still not as good as the "Fudo" R520.

We got some numbers from this card and it turns out that R520 scores more than 10000 in 3Dmark05. We still don't know its clock speeds but we know the score. For what we know Nvidia can not mach this with G70.

This is actually even better or equal to two 6800 Ultra cards in SLI which kinds of makes it looks ridiculously fast. Imagine R520 in Crossfire, what ATI "cool chap" described as "Coolest technology ever" could do? Just double the number please.

No question that R520, Fudo will be fast the only questions remains are when is it going to be out and when it will actually be available. We will hopefully found out more soon.

You're seriously linking the inquirer? These people can't spell, have horrible grammar, and their credibility is worse than IGN...

This isn't any kind of sign. Again, bench mark numbers only prove what is benchmarked. Performance lies in software using the hardware, not a benchmark.

It's not just that, it's the fact that he posted an article from such an unreliable source. And the fact that Nvidia hasn't revealed much, at all, about their next generation PC GPU.

It's exactly like Jedi said. The G70 and the RSX won't be the same card. The RSX is based on a G70 core, nothing else. :)

dont they get inside info from oem testers

No, they don't.

Nvidia and ATI do all of their beta testing and technical demonstrations and benchmarks internally, wheather or not they release that information to the press is to each companies discretion.

Nvidia has been much more quiet in reference to their next generation GPU in comparison to ATI. ATI has been putting everything they can into interviews and press releases, while it seems Nvidia is taking a more "wait for it" approach.

But no, this site is far from reliable, and the chances of them having any clue as to what they are talking about in reference to the Nvidia chip, and even the ATI chip, for that matter, are slim.

this coming from the same ppl that had elvis and Sasquatch on the covers saying they are still out there LMAO!!!!

I wouldn't trust a 3dmark score anyway. Ever since the 3dmark03 incident and the lack of real world testing, instead of synthetic testing, 3dmark has lost it's credibility.

ATi needs to worry about current gen cores. They can't even get them out into the market. Nvidia, on the other hand, has them on a limited basis.

I don't see why Nvidia should worry. For one, these are internally released benchmarks. For another, if the new chip ISN'T more powerful than an SLI 6800GT configuration, then that's definately cause for worry in terms of the progress that the tech industry is currently making.

what's to worry about anyway? these two guys are fierce rivals. Whatever one will put out, the other will match it.
