Could we be seeing a dirt/off-road DLC track?

I notice that with the two DLC's that have come out there seems to be some "dirt/off road" element added to each.
The Focus and Typhoon from DLC 1 could easily fit the bill. And no need to name the obvious in the December DLC pack. Looks like they're setting something up for a "different" kind of track.

I hope so. Pikes Peak seems possible, even if it was paved like the real one will be -- by June 2012.

I sure hope so, there are so many rally cars in the game. For me that is the one the Gran Turismo series has over Forza.

I wouldn't be one to complain. I liked GT5's rally and LOVED Dirt 3, so why not.

Sometimes I drive offroad at Sedona just to see the dust!

Going by that logic they would have been setting up for dirt since FM2 and 3 since they saw fit to include..

Cars that were built and homologated specifically for rallying and dirt

Ford RS200 | Porsche 959 | Peugeot 2007 super 2000 | Subaru Impreza 22B | Audi Quattro [1983] | Lancia Stratos | Lancia Delta intergale | Renault 5 Turbo | Fiat 131 Abarth

Then you have all the cars that competed in WRC

Citroen CTS - V | Ford Focus's | All the Evo and subaru's | Citroen DS3

Then the cars that are regularly used as rally cars
Alfa Giulia | Ford Fiesta | Older Mini | BMW E30 M3 etc

And then all the 4x4's that you'd never even see at a trackday let alone serious race series'

Most of these cars have been around since FM2 and suddenly now release a DLC dirt track rather than include one from launch and then release only one Dirt track with a few different layouts? Nah. If it happens I'll eat my LCE box and Book. There are way too many areas of tarmac racing to be realized before Dirt will even be considered by Turn 10 IMO. Pretty sure Dan said somewhere it was a final option and something about the cars becoming tools and Ferrari's and dirt not mixing blah blah blah anyway. IIRC he wasn't keen on the idea at all.

Also unless they patch in dirt tyres for all the cars [Unlikely] only the DLC cars would be of any use.

I would love to see an offroad track but I don't want it to be half assed nor tacked on like rally stages in GT games have felt like... at least for me. Much better in GT5 but it's not the best where it seems on some surfaces you get more traction than you should and others you get less. If PD were to add offroad tracks they'd need to add a dirt tire option (or snow tire). I like driving offroad inspired race cars in street form in Forza and many of my liveries are of WRC classics, but no offroad track. If not in FM4 I'd bet that FM5 gets offroad (and weather, and time shift to compete with GT5).

It would have to be a pretty serious addition to the game to be worthwhile, I mean there's a reason racing games tend to focus on either off road or on road. If T10 were going to do it, I would want it to be a completely new title, because that's the kind of focus I would want to make it a worthwhile purchase for me. If they were to just, say, port over GT5's rally modes and sell it as DLC I really don't think I would buy it. Okay I would, but I would still be wanting a lot more.

I think a transition track would be best. Something that goes off-road and back on again. That way you'd get Forza's regluar road physics and a taste of some off road action to give those particular cars more meaning and fun.

Hopefully they are still in communication with Perrelli (sp)

Doubtful. I'd love to see Pikes Peak or something else in there, but I just don't see it happening. My big concern is particle effects. I don't think the game'll put up too well with 8-16 cars with dirt particle effects coming from the track. Like I said, I'd love to see it, but I don't think it'll happen. :/

I cant see it ever happening. If T10 wanted to explore dirt/rally they would have done so by now. If you want rally, play CMR or dirt. If you want road racing, play forza. If you want frustration, Play GT ;)

I don't want Turn-10 to just put rallying into the game, for the sake of putting rally into the game. If they do this, it'll just be tacked on and lackluster, like it is in Gran Turismo. I would much rather T10 do a whole new rally sim I.P. and get it right the first time around.

Bring back RalliSport Challenge, please.

To be honest... Knowing that Pike's Peak is now going to be fully paved, I can see this track as being DLC.

The GMC Typhoon is a lowered blazer with a fast engine - it never was made to be anywhere near dirt.

Better to use a previous thread although dead.
COME ON WE GOTTA BE GETTING A DIRT TRACK FOR DLC!!!
Look at all these hot rally cars and no dirt?!?!? We gotta be getting something for these.

I Agree, though as said in the thread it would be most likely to see the Pikes Peak course only Tarmac'd

I mean when you think about it, the Monster SX4 is actually pretty useless in the game, I don't think I've used it since I bought it, so it needs a track that it has some use on

Absolutely, I would love the addition of a true rally stage in FM. But it needs to be proper. Tight and twisty, and no stupid invisible barriers!

This for sure. Tacked on would be going down the same road GT5 did with Rally, NASCAR, etc. The closest thing to new gen rally is Dirt2-3, and sadly they are more on the arcade side, and lost the "rally" charm in favor of "Xtreme" crap like gymkhana, and drifting.

NEver did understand the rally cars in a non-off road title, but oh well.

True this too. Its like somone purchasing a SVT Lightning for a ranch truck. And sadly, I have seen that done 2 times.

No thanks, not interested in off-road racing in Forza. Stick to the road racing.

Therefore I wouldn't buy an off-road track as DLC, neither do I think we will get one. I think Turn 10 would want to do rallying justice, i.e. do it properly and not the GT5 approach.

I loved DiRT1. I know it wasn't the best in terms of physics but the layout, the cars, the tracks, etc had me hooked bad. I got DiRT2 thinking it'd be more of it but it became this ESPN XTREME nonsense and I got bored of it a bit quick. Don't get me wrong, I like the more aggressive extreme stuff but after DiRT1... it just doesn't fit right with me.

I can really see the paved version of Pike's Peak coming. So far there's just been too many offroad vehicles in DLCs of FM4 and it doesn't make sense to me. The Ford Raptor, the Suzuki SX4 Monster hill climber, the Audi S1... but no offroad and only Fujimi Kaido uphill is the only place it feels like it fits somewhat

If T10 did drop a mega bomb by releasing a dirt track, then they would have to include a dirt tire. Pirelli apparently sponsors a small rally in the UK and we know that T10 worked with Pirelli on this. I just don't see how they would add a physics layer for offroad, dirt track, dirt tire, and offroad events. Seems a bit too much. Pike's Peak paved though.. would be much much easier

There is no reason they couldn't do a tarmac rally course, say a few stages from monaco or spain. I doubt we will see a gravel stage, If enough of us asked maybe we would get???? petition anyone

There are blank spots on the Event List, a clump for each manufacturer region as I recall.

Those blank spots could very have been Porsche place holders for Porsche specific events and even place holders for DLC tracks. Something I'm sure T10 got a lot of flack for was Nurburgring GP and how it wasn't integrated anywhere. It became a private MP race track for those who had the track or time trials only, and I think the track was great. Hopefully T10 listened.
