I use the Logitech drivng force pro and whenever i try to drift i get into the angle but the car just eventually spins out of contron. Even when i try to counter steer it does nothing at all. Most of them time when i try to turn for the drift the car front of the ends up hitting the wall and slides around the corner. I'm using a rx7 rz and i have a skylne gtr34. I need major help

counter steer earlier. as soon as u feel the slide countersteer... the more u go sideways, the more countersteer u need...:O :O :O counter steer doesnt work when ur already at an 90+ degree angle... if ur using an fr

I also have another problem. Sometimes when i start turning the car doesnt turn enough and it ends up fyling into the wall

I really never read those drift guides. I heard it helps alot, but it is always good to just try again and again. :D

plz start with the FD to learn the throttle control and get use of the steering, if u start with the awd all u will learn is the countersteering( ill u need for the awd is to mash the gas and turn)(i think) ,and last but not least, plz read the guides or the stickies( or use the PM sys. or the search button) and welcome to gtp :D

After reading cudaman's dfift guide I realized why i couldn't recover when i turned. It was the wheel. I had it set on professional mode so the wheel was too loose and i couldn't counter steer effectively. So now i can recover easily and i dont spin out. Im still green at drifting but ill get there. At least i will be able to link drifts now i can recover effectivley.

Don't you mean you had it set to simulation? The pro setting is great for drifting, simulation is the one that does not let you countersteer.

Sorry for getting off-topic but OMG bustave that 2.5RS in your avatar looks EXACTLY like my friend's (except for the rims)! Very nice!

wow, we have somebody here that can actually gain some knowledge from the drift bible;) i hope one of the vets here pointed it out to u

If you're just learning to drift, dont start with that RX7. Pick one of the many RWD Nissans and start from there. Also, dont go ape**** with the HP, keep it at a reasonable level, sub 300ish.

Countersteer does help to control the car in a drift.

Why do you think people countersteer then?

If you have really good skills, then you know how to drift without countersteering, thus achieving a four wheel drift.

And it does not matter whether you use the DS2 *not remote* or a wheel. It is all about skill.

Because you are developing understeer.

In a drift, you want to create oversteer so that you can drift through the corner. If you keep on understeering, then the car will keep on sliding out and hit the outside wall.

Try feint drifting the car to shift the weight around so that you can create oversteer by the time you tackle the corner.

how do u initiate UR drift cause i just turn and brake at the same time.
Try feint drifting.

If you turn and brake at the same time, then the front end will break traction before the rear, creating understeer.

um.. I turn and brake at the same time and I don't understeer...... maybe because I'm a good drifter.. :p

I noticed im not ready and it sounds very complicated. I saw a drift bible with some guy i think it was shadow drifters drift bible. He does his drifts diffrently than i had in mind. turning and ebraking.

would starting with a stock fc help me learn faster?
Yes, with simulation tires.

Then, when you feel comfortable drifting every turn with the car, start modifying the suspension, engine, drivetrain, etc. to your liking :)

all depends on weight transfer sometimes this can be effective if the weight is moving in the right way already

the article ryen posted further supports my opinion that 4 wheel drifting can almost be looked at as "super gripping"..

buy an fr car, put simulation tires on it, and turn TCS down to 0 or 1... give the car about 300-350 horsepower as well. this is the easiest help anyone can give you. it's an easy way to get drifting fast... and counterstearing with this set-up should be more effective than what ur trying...

well thats false, because i have a 86 with 270 hp and on sims or a FD with its oringinal hp on sims

as long as the car has enough power behind the wheels and can lose the traction enough, u can do nething

u guys make this sound too easy. Its hard as hell. When i try it the car goes foward will it slides or sometimes it goes back so either way its gonna slam into the inside of the outside. I wonder if im going too fast. I got around 350hp of the rx7 rz and i try to initiate the drift at around 120. Is that a good speed to start at?
