What the hell is NBC thinking!?! They've cancelled Coupling after only 4 episodes? That was my new favorite show this season. It was way better than my old favorite, Friends, every time that I watched it. Also, it would have been a good addition to a Friendless season next year.

TV execs are stupid sometimes. :banghead:

Plus, who doesn't want to see more of Rena Sofer every week?
 
If you've ever seen the original British version, you'd understand why the American version sucked so badly. Check out your local PBS affiliate on Saturday nights - they may run the British original, which is at least 124,579 times better as Klos would say.

Exactly, the British version was much better. The US version was just a carbon copy of the british show, just with bad US actors. ;)

Anyone remember the original Men Behaving Badly? That was a rip-roaring classic. Then the Americans gave it a bash, and it made like a Hoover and sucked.

I loved the original British men behaving badly. I didn't know there was an American version, did it have the same name?
 
I've never seen the British version so I can't compare the two. But, I do know that the one on NBC was one of the funniest damn shows on TV. It's a lot better than plenty of the shows that they're keeping.

Nah, had some lame, contrived name. I think it had that guy from Deuce Bigalo in it.

Mile - yea, that is shown here for some daft reason. How TV execs provide cash for that tripe is beyond reason.
 
The british coupling kicked big british bum. Why does everything have to get yankanised. I'm surprised they ever showed the british version over in america, I would of thought you'd have to be pretty in on the british culture to get half the jokes. Hoping to get the 4th series on DVD soon, got the other 3 :). Meh....
Never realised there was an American version of Men Behaving Badly as well. Next they'll be an American version of Red Dwarf...
 
Everything becomes copied by American TV studios because they think they've got a hit show, since it worked in GB. They think it's half way there to becoming a hit in America, but it ends up going nowhere.
 
I don't know, why do American shows get copied in other countries? Entertainment as an industry is pretty much based around ripping off whoever has the current big idea. It's not limited to America in any way, even though I do understand we're a nation of drooling imbeciles who have never had an original intelligent thought.

I don't know, Duke, "My Mother The Talking Car" sounded pretty "original" to me. :lol:

Funnily, Coupling was originally a British attempt at copying "Friends", to an extent. Only Coupling is funny and Friends is the worst thing ever.

We've had a lot of Friends-clones. "Game On" to name just one, dire one.

The problem with any copies - not just American copies of British shows - is that they are usually worse than the originals. Thus copying Friends is really, really dumb. If anyone disagrees, watch one episode of Married: With Children, then compare it to one episode of Married: For Life. Russ Abbott? **** off!

There was. It didn't work. I saw a clip from it during a program on the history of Red Dwarf. Lister was a handsome hunk type bloke..... 👎
 
*shakes head* that just hurts to see you post that daan. Is nothing safe. But then again, the BBC does boradcast to a lot of other countries so it's hardly surprising that so many other countries try and copy british programmes. But as you guys said, we're just as guilty at doing it.

I think what the problem is Neon, that there's either super intelligent people in America, such as yourself and a few others on here (key word, being few) and a lot of very very dumb people. From my little experiance of America, there's very few inbetween. Ok generalisation, but just from experiance im making that assumption...
Have you ever seen or heard of a British Comedian called Eddie Izzard. He seems to of made it quite big in America recently.
Another thing is I've noticed quite a few American having been trying to do the British style of singing. Like the Killers, just one badn that pop into mind. Altho I do like them.
