Course Maker in GT6?

If they do it how I think they will, there will be some sort of map with the topography etc, and you select a region in which you would desire to design your circuit, and go from there,

But I think that there will be certain area's that they wont allow the circuit to pass, large bodies of water, steep inclines, incredibly awesome jumps etc, they just simply wont let you do it, thus limiting the size of the area,

First, I was not expecting this thread to escalate this quickly, and I can now see that point to points will become very popular. If you have this much space to work with, there will no doubt be a point to point feature.

Again, GT5 had point-to-point shown in preview screenshots and it exists in game in the rally stages. But you can't access it when building your own course.

Point-to-point is not guaranteed. It seems like an obvious move and PD would be colossal morons not to put it in, but that didn't stop them taking it out of GT5.

Do not underestimate the weird things PD can do when designing a game.

Really? :yuck:. You should edit that in before the warning:

You reckon? I don't see any of that in there. There's several other people in the thread saying that it should be assumed to be in, on fairly reasonable grounds.

It's not particularly abusive, hateful, threatening or profane any more than telling someone that they would be a colossal moron for making a cake but replacing the sugar with salt.

I'm sorry, I believe in calling a spade a spade. Leaving the feature out of GT5 was silly, but possibly they had reasons. The tracks would have been pretty short anyway. But having a course maker with 2500sqkm or more of area but no point to point feature is just daft.

And honestly, they haven't done anything one way or the other yet, so I'm not calling them anything. Once they announce that they're not supporting point-to-point, then you can feel free to lambast me with your Stick of GT Defense +3 for abuse of your idols.
 
I doubt there will be full control over the editing/layout, remember to feature real circuits you need to have the rights to feature it so I'm not sure if Polyphony would want to risk getting in trouble because of people making clones of real life circuits that are not featured in the game. I remember something similar happened with an MMO game where people were making duplicates of Marvel Comics superheroes.

I doubt there will be full control over the editing/layout, remember to feature real circuits you need to have the rights to feature it so I'm not sure if Polyphony would want to risk getting in trouble because of people making clones of real life circuits that are not featured in the game. Unless you can upload custom textures, build your own pit buildings etc, layout your own kerbs and gravel traps, put walls and barriers where you want, any and all other trackside furniture etc.... no track is actually going to look that much like it's real world counterpart...

I don't want to get my hopes up for that level of customisation, it would kick ass - but it's not going to happen.

If I took a scale of how I could see it working from 1 to 8, with each level adding functionality/customisation...

1) You have randomly generated track (as with GT5)
2) + You can pre-determine the path/length of the track
3) + You have control over the elavation
4) + You have control over camber/width etc.
5) + You have control over the surrounding terrain
6) + You have control over the placement of automatically generated track furniture/buildings
7) + You have control over the look/feel of trackside furniture/buildings (This is where M.N.R. is from memory)
8) You have a CAD system to create totally from scratch.... (rFactor/BTB)

I'm hoping for a 6 or 7.. but truthfully, I'm only expecting 2 or 3. :guilty:

How about...
1.5) You can choose the path of your track inside the Course Maker Area, but only combining pre-defined roads.

It's not THAT unlikely.

Not unlikely, but I don't see it being like this.

In any remotely realistic non-urban area there aren't going to be enough roads to offer any variety without having to utilise a lot of the area. This will mean either you will have to have a 20 mile cicuit to get any varierty (and not everyone wants a 15 minute lap time), or there just won't be that many combinations of short (sensible) length tracks available. In cities, or point to point races it might be easier, but like I say, I don't see PD going down this route personally.
 
I hope for control of layout but I don't expect it.

As for everything else, I think where you put the track on the map will automatically mold it to the terrain surface. That will give you the up/downs and cambers.
 
Seeing how much of a fanboy KY is with Switzerland, I'd try to make something similar to Stelvio if an Alps theme is featured and supports this. Tight, downhill hairpin corners with little room for error. And if the course maker supports this too, a beautiful scenery to accommodate the course.

Secondly, a long A to B road with a Rainbow Road-like consequence. Think of it as the Speed Challenge courses in Need for Speed ProStreet. If lucky, you can walk away from a race there with everyone totaling (or in GT, falling behind in-) their cars because of a minor screw up causing them to crash into a cliff, a bridge, a stone, whatever it can be, and making a mess for everyone in the race.

Oh, and lastly, a general recreation of a country's border shape as a circuit and naming it after featured-country used to shape the layout. :sly:
 
This entire course maker is dependent on one thing to get me excited about it; elevation change. If we can make our own custom layout, but can't control where the hills and valleys are, then it's kind of pointless.
 
I really hope this Course creator is as extensive as we hope it is. Honestly, will spend so much time creating tracks. I'm a sucker for customization.

I'm expecting a slight improvement on what we had with GT5. PD have a record of flattering to deceive.
 
Realistic....

Is a large area scanned whit principal Road and users are able to select road to road for create the circuit and the game make it similar as tokyo 246 for example
 
Try and recreate the complex string, what else?

Well they can be found on your profile under the infractions tab.

I have now twice told you what to do if you feel the AUP is being broken, and that is to use the Report button.

Any other course of action, including attempts at moderation are not a wise idea.

Continue to ignore the advice you are given and you will find yourself on the wrong side of the AUP again. Please note that the above is instruction, not an open invitation to debate this topic publicly. Attempt to do so and it will be considered to be ignoring moderation and will result in an infraction.
 
Not really sure right now. But I do know if it is as good as advertised I will probably spend more time making tracks than anything else
