Anyone know how long Silver members have to wait before the downloads are opened up to them? I'm pretty keen to try this seeing other peoples positive responses.

I played the demo for ANOTHER 3 hours straight last night with Heather. This game gets better and better each day!!! Last night in my first game I maxed out my guys driving abilities by driving over enemies and avoiding civilians while Heather attacked main enemies. Holy crap the car transforms into basically the Batmobile with 2 machine guns when you reach level 4!!! It also goes over 200mph and you can steer it in the air. Friggin awesome!
The next game I leveled up my throwing ability and was able to throw or kick just about everything I could get my hands. People lookied like Pinatas when I attacked them. lol
The 3rd game I leveled up my jumping ability by collecting orbs. This took a while but once I reached level 3 I felt like Spiderman. I decided to try and climb the largest building in the game before the timer ran out. I made it all the way to the top and was just about to go on top of the tower when the timer ran out. It was my first attempt so the next time I try I know I will make it for sure. Takes a long time to climb and jump to the top. The view at night is crystal clear too. During the day its a little hazy because of draw distance. I will get on top of the Ferris wheel probably tonight. Cant wait to buy this game!!! :dopey: :dopey:

oops I will delete it. lol There have just been sooo many rumors about this. I still wonder if its true or not. I am buying Crackdown for Crackdown. The beta is just a bonus. If I have it I do if not its no big deal.

Same. Crackdown is awesome, so they can keep the Halo 3 beta for all I care.

(But I'm still going to register for it, because I can, so don't think I'm giving out my beta code or anything ;))

...Well, I didn't get in on the Beta. SUXORZ. Looks like either my brother or myself will be playing a lot of Halo 2 next weekend, hoping to get in on some of the Beta action. If not, I may have to break-down and buy Crackdown, but we'll see what happens...

Both me and my brother agree that the demo isn't all that great.

The graphics are a little bland, especially the explosions and fire. At least they're sharp and the people and cars look pretty good. The shooting is a little too much point and shoot, and the AI is pretty dumb. One main dood you had to kill just sat there without moving trying to shoot at you the whole time. He died very easily. The amimation of the people seem flimsy as well, but that may have been done on purpose. At least the car damage, physics and sound is good.

It's just a shame that I may have to buy this game just for the Halo 3 Beta...

The demo is already released on the Xbox Live Market.
Yep. That's what we all have been talking about the last 10 posts or so...

I'm really surprised at how fun this game is. The skills are cool, the driving and on foot action is very entertaining too. Also, I'm glad to see that the Police car has more than a passing resemblance to Australia's own Holden Monaro :)

This game really demonstrates the effectivness of the Xbox Live Marketplace. If I hadn't played the demo I would have thought yeah looks ok but meh and probably wouldn't have bought it. But after playing the demo, I'm pre-ordering it tomorrow. The fact that I may be able to register to play a bit of Halo 3 is just a bonus.

The Halo 3 beta is available to people outside the USA right?

I have now officially put over 10 hours into the Crackdown demo. I absolutely love this game and look forward to the final version. I hosted 4 rooms last night and everyone joined with successful gameplay. The last game I played was with a guy from Belgium. We started playing then about 30 seconds later he started talking and I noticed a strong accent. The first thing he asked was about the connection. He said normally people say he lags real bad or he causes rooms to disconnect. It ran very very smooth. We leveled our guys both to level 4 jumping then decided to climb the highest tower in the game. I finally made it all the way to the top with his help!!! He showed me the only last jump I needed to make to get to the top. The view at night was crystal clear and the draw distance was extremely impressive. During the day the draw distance wasnt as friendly but it was still better than any other sandbox game I have played.

As I have said before I have been planning on buying Crackdown since last September. If Heather and I get the Halo 3 beta that will be a bonus but I am buying this game for the incredible co-op experience of Crackdown itself. :)
edit: I took 2 pics last night just as the timer was runing out. If they turned out then I will post them some time today.

Yep, I've been playing this a helluva' lot. Shame the demo only lasts one hour max.
When I first saw some video I wasn't sure about it. But plaing it has been real fun.
It nods its head towards GTA but, unlike Saints Row, it isn't a copy. It does try to be a little original. I kinda' felt it was a cross between GTA, Spiderman and Robocop!
The rpg-ish element of increasing your abilities is a good touch, making that a mini-game in itself (running around throwing cars about is a laugh) and a nice array of weapons (all of which sound good) is great fun, particularly the grenade launcher. Cars behave surprisingly realistically too and the 5.1 is pretty good.
My only gripes are the lock on which can't be cycled and the "gang info updates" that can pause the game at inconvenient times. Not too sure of the slightly cartoony graphics but at least it looks decent with little slowdown or tearing. My only concerns are it may become repetitive and the single player mode is short. But that may not be the case.
I do like these essentially free-roaming games and I'm looking forward to its release next month.

I love the crackdown demo. I always find myself trying to get the highest rank of agility. It so much fun just to fly around from building to building.

Good to see that you're getting the full enjoyment out of the Demo CamaroBoy.

One problem I have with the skills giving you such great powers is that people will spend a long time building up skills and leveling up before they actually begin playing through the game. I hope there is something to encourage people to keep playing the game rather than just tying to max out their stats. But having said that I guess it is the appeal of 'sand box' games that people are able to do whatever they like.

This is just a little hint I want to give anyone thats playing this demo.
Many people do not seem to understand just how well the lock on target system works. In case you haven't realized, you have the ability to shoot the head, left arm, right arm, chest, or the legs after you lock on. After you hold the left trigger a diagram will pop up that looks like a human. Use your right analog stick and push in the direction on that diagram where you want your guy to shoot. Left for left arm, right for right arm, down for legs, up for head or dont push in any direction and he will shoot their chest. If you push down and aim for the legs they will drop instantly!!! Then you can go kick them around or shoot the body while its on the ground. They will even grab their knees sometimes. Its brilliant!!! Also as your shooting skills level up this becomes extremely accurate and very devostating.
I just figured I would post this helpful information for those that dont know.
I have had my 360 for 6 months and I have spent more time on this demo than any other demo I have played. I have played at least 20 hours worth of this demo. There is more to do in this demo than most people will ever even find out about. The only limit is your imagination.

i just hope you're not spending too much time in the demo that you won't enjoy the full game (as it'll be a lot slower...)

I like how your chosen character physically changes too. And I think the type of skill level determines the changes. Nice little touches.
It's good fun shooting an enemy in the arm to make them drop their weapon, kick it away then shoot them in the leg and give them a good kicking. On Psychotic this can go on for sometime and you get a shed load of points back once you finish them off.
Some nice weapons too. There's two sniper rifles I've found - one with a 5 shot clip and 20 rounds max and one with 1 shot and 10 rounds max. The later one is a Police/Agency weapon. There's two gang SMG's, one with and one without a sight, an M16 type rifle and, as many know I'm sure, that rather devestating grenade launcher. I'd love to see a flamethrower in the game!

EDIT: Just saw this vid at Gametrailers of Crackdown that someone must have made. Let's just say there's one serious explosion to be seen...

Like you mentioned the lock on target system works wonderful to drop enemies real quick. I almost always hold down with the right analog stick to shoot their knees. You can also target vehicles the exact same way. If you push right on the right analog stick you will shoot out the vehicles gas tank causing it to explode instantly. Very satisfying!! Or you can pull down on the right analog stick to blow out individual tires. I actually made an explosion very similar to that video you posted. Those sticky remote grenades are awesome!! I just cant get enough of this demo. I now have over 23 hours into it and this is only a demo!! :dopey:

Hey I don't know if any one has noticed but the big tower that dominates the city skyline with the red lights that CamaroBoy has climbed (and I'm sure many others have too) is the Agency building where you start from. You can actually climb out of the garage and enter the city that way rather than drive a car down the tunnel.

Yes I have noticed that. I have used it many times when I fell off the agency building and died. lol You can climb out right where you spawn.

I played it and enjoyed it, definately much more than I thought I would. I'll probably end up picking it up, hopefully when there's a used copy or when the price drops, till then hopefully VF5 will keep me busy, but this game was definately leaps and bounds better than I had thought it would be.
