so, who here besides me likes the black/death metal band Cradle Of Filth? They are one of my favorite bands. they rule. with all awesomeness.

err, sort of.
I've had Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids on my playlist for a very long time, and I like it. The only other song I've got is Presents form the Poison Heart, and that's just okay.
Maybe you could recommend something?
Also, I think "Of Dark Blood and ****ing" is a really hilarious song name.

Yeah, I got their new ablum and thats the first song I listened to.

CoF- a band composed entirely of people with too much free time.

Not a fan, but I do listen to them.

They are OK, but I rate many more bands higher

'Cradle of Crappy Average Drivvle' would be a better name for the band though...

One of my room mates loved Cradle Of Filth and would always listen to it. I liked a lot of their songs but I dont really know the name of them. I think I even have a couple of their songs on CD in my car.

Cradle of Filth went downhill around Cruelty and the Beast. I'll admit, their latest, Nymphetamine isn't as bad as their other mediocre albums, so they might be on the mend.

Also, you can't compare Cradle of Filth to Children of Bodom, as they are two different styles of music. I prefer Children of Bodom, but I can't say one is better than the other, exactly, as they aren't in the same field.

By the way Silverzone, they're a mix of Black Metal and Gothic Metal, not Death Metal. Children of Bodom are more Power or Speed Metal than anything else.

Most people don't honestly know what Death Metal really is, so anything heavy with vocals that are shouted out, becomes Death Metal to some people. It's the same with "Heavy Metal".

Funny how some people in this thread like Cradle of Filth, yet they say rap music has a bad influence on people and isn't music in that other topic. Yeah, satanist noise aimed an already suicidal target audience of teens who want to be different by dressing the same like all the thousands of other gothics, now that has a good influence on people... Go take a shower, get a haircut, get out the house some more and get a healthy skin complexion...

Before dismissing me as just another metal hater, System of a Down, Rob Zombie, Slayer and Metallica enter my playlist quite often.... but Cradle of Filth is really trash. It IS music, but I won't take anyone's musical opinion seriously anymore if they actually listen to this awful music.

This is amazing. You've ripped apart the "Reasons For Hating Rap Music" thread by saying that noone should ever dismiss Rap music, any of its fans or any of it's artists, just because you don't like it. Yet, you proceed to say that you "won't take anyone's musical opinon seriously anymore" if they listen to Cradle Of Filth. I'm sorry Mr. Socks, but you've lost all of my respect for your opinion with this statement.

I personally do not like Cradle Of Filth, but what you said completely ticked me off. How can you possibly say that because a certain person likes a certain band which you dislike, you dismiss this person's opinion? Seriously, how can you say that with a straight face, and proceed to put forth your opinion on Rap music to be taken seriously?

Cradle Of Filth "promotes" the same amount of negative lifestyle as most rappers do. Do you seriously think it's okay for Rappers to promote gangs, violence, drug abuse, prostitution, disrespect to law enforcement and anyone in the community who doesn't agree with them, weapons, and various other illegal activities? Of course it isn't. While Cradle Of Filth may promote, and I quote: "satanist noise aimed an already suicidal target audience of teens who want to be different by dressing the same like all the thousands of other gothics" ... I don't think this is quite as bad of an influential problem as Rap music possesses.

I typed that post with a sense of sarcasm in it, to make the people who talked like that on the rap thread feel how it is when someone speaks on music like that. I definitely do not like Cradle of Filth, that part is true from the heart.

You are wrong here: "Cradle Of Filth "promotes" the same amount of negative lifestyle as most rappers do. You're only talk about ONE category of rap / hiphop called Gangsta rap. If you would have said this about gangsta rap I would have agreed with you (even though gangsta rap can be just as entertaining as satanic metal), but not about rap in general.

By the way I don't think nobody should ever dismiss rap music, if you don't like it then so be it... but before you dismiss it, know what you are dismissing. I've heard my share of Cradle of Filth so I know what I am dismissing.

How talented do you have to be to stand in front of a synthesizer and talk to lyrics someone else wrote. And Cradle really doesn't promote it, they just sing about it. I'm a Christian, so as you can tell, I really don't care what they say. I just like the music style. Really great.

Not talented at all, because that is not how good hiphop is made. Anyway, back on topic, I won't bother you guys anymore from now on.

By the way I do like the song named "Cthulu Dawn" by Cradle of Filth, a good song to open up an album like this... very energetic and overwhelmes you with a whole load of sound. Unfortunately this style of music gets old really quick to me, the next song sounds like the previous to me.

i cant wait for the new DVD to come out. i wonder what that book is going to be like. the gosple of filth. haha. sounds rather funny.

i even think cradle of fear was a good movie.

something i think is funny is how people that only have heard a few cradle songs think they suck. yet people that have heard more then one album actually like them.

Not to foul your theory, but I have heard a few of their albums from start to finish... This only cemented my distaste for the band... It's just not my style... The cheesy lyrics, over-the-top (even for black metal) sound, and uninspired compositional elements, just act as fingernails on a chalboard... To my ears...

However, we are all entitled to our opinions on music... I am merely stating my opinion of said band... If you like 'em, more power to ya...

I'm drawn more to black metal bands like Satyricon, and even some Children of Bodom... Not quite as over-the-top, and better musical elements...
