That will not save you from corruption. flash usually dies before HDDs too. I think a HDD platter can survive more write cycles. I usually backup to some other drive. Wish I could auto backup to a server.

How many of your harddisks & how many of your usb sticks died till now? :)

Till the SSD's getting mass market friendly when it comes to the price, it would be a good thing.
