crazy amount of guest online.

Odd....

I'm wondering since the HMRCWG thread takes more server power to display than any other thread here, could this be some kind of a lame attempt to crash the server?
 
When you are in invisible mode, you show up as guest. sometimes you will see a guest replying, which is a invisble member.

Wrong.
You don't show up at all when you're invisble.
 
no way..... even if every single one of those guests where invisable members there has never been anything like this beofre.....
this site usually have around 40 people on all the time... around this timeof the day it is around 30..... not 125...
for some reason all these "guests" are flocking to "HMRCWG"
 
see, were now up to 63 GUESTS in that thread... and allmost every single one of them is inactive.... click on the users online button and see there last active time... most have been idle for 20 mins...
thats a little weird is it not
 
Now I'm almost positive it's a "Poor Man's" Attempt to crash the server.

Ever click Reply when you arn't logged in?
It takes you to a screen where it asks you to sign in.
When You're on that screen, it shows you replying on Who's Online.
 
If the server does crash I'll be really surprized.
I would guess that what they're doing will just slow it down a bit.
It all depends on the proc in the server machine.
Lets just hope it's at least a 1Ghz.

If Jordan pays by bandwidth usage, Jordan will be paying alot this month.
 
Well i can say for a fact that we had almost 85 guest all in the HMRCWG thread. And they were all different users. Maybe some one linked that thread and alot of people wanted to see the # of post we have in there????????
 
I believe a website has posted a link to the thread due to it's size, although I'm not exactly sure what site that is. I have a good idea, but I find it hard to believe that all of these new visitors are coming via that link. I highly doubt it is a DOS attack, because each guest is accessing the site from completely different hostnames and IP addresses from all corners of the globe.

That's what I was going to mention. I bet that thread just got posted on someone else's website. No big deal. It's a bunch of anonymous people surfing over to see the humongus thread. What a waste of ... everything.
